Taking what most people consider to be their favorite Bjork song of all-time, Great Skies has eloquently constructed a remix that compliments the Icelandic songstress' 902s classic "Hyberballad." Not trying to go against the sound of the original, Great Skies decides to only make subtle alterations to the track by adding in his signature dub sound to the bassline and beefing up the percussion with a few kick drums and hi-hats. Slightly shorter than Bjork's version, Great Skies seemed intent on delivering a remix that was short, sweet, and more importantly, captivating. And after listening to his remix, all I can [...]
Our favorite 17 and 18 year old producers from Lancaster are back with another original! Titled "All Inside" I like to describe Bondax's latest song as "tranquilly smooth." Utilizing one of the best vocal samples I've heard in a while, the duo manages to create a track that's marked by stunningly beautiful build-ups, mesmerizing loops, and fluid drops of intricate bass that are enough to keep you're head bobbing throughout. Like walking outside on a rainy day, this track will leave you feeling fully immersed, completely washing away whatever thoughts that preoccupied your mind before you pressed the play button. This is [...]

Hailing from the country of Belgium, Aeroplane is the one-man operation of Vito de Luca. Having been in the sky for three years now, Vito has taken to world by storm with his plethora of party-starting remixes, originals, and hour-long soundcloud mixes he posts once every month. Now setting his sites on the United States, Vito recently announced that he'll be touring North America all this February, hitting several cities from New York all the way to Los Angeles. So if I were you, I'd make sure to check out the tour poster at the bottom of this page to see [...]
Set to release their new EP " Apparitions " this Tuesday on February 7th, Labyrinth Ear have recently given San Francisco producer Giraffage the opportunity to remix their mystifying track "Humble Bones." Scrapping almost everything from the original, Giraffage decides to utilize the song's mesmerizing vocals and reapply them in a way that's more suitable to his style. By combining his signature dream-state melodies with loads of emphatic, yet soothing bass, Giraffage is able to to take lead-singer Emily's vocals and alter them in a way that makes them sound as if they're literally floating across the track. [...]
One of the great things about listening to music is seeing - and more importantly, hearing - artists progress throughout their careers. Lots of producers have made incredible tracks here and there, but only some manage to make music that you listen to over and over again. I remember the first time I heard Gigamesh : it was in the period where I had just moved back to Amsterdam and was starting university. His remix of Radiohead's "Everything in Its Right Place", an incredible composition in its own right, made it more danceable and easy to listen to and [...]
I always love artists' descriptions of their own tracks because they usually tend to be spot on. Steve Metz and Chris Conover from EarthMoonEarth describe their latest remix of Dragonette's classic track as something that, "continues to build throughout, from very soft beginnings, through a gated-reverb second verse, a bridge full of vocal edits and pianos, to the energetic conclusion." And in a nutshell, this is exactly how the song manifests. Although I didn't believe that anything could be better than Fabian's reinterpretation of " Easy " in 2010, this one definitely comes close to upstaging one of my all-time [...]
New Navy - Zimbabwe (RüFüS Remix) Reaching #67 on Triple J's Hot 100 for 2011, New Navy's track "Zimbabwe" has caused quite the stir in the music scene for last couple of months. A song producers can't seem to get enough of, this single has already been remixed by the likes of Flume, Lancelot, and Distrackt. Now Sydney collective RüFüS have decided to take their shot at editing the track by adding in their signature indie-dance grooves that they've become known for. If that wasn't enough, they have also decided [...]
Due to conflicts with him and his record label, Paul Dixon, better known as David's Lyre has decided to go independent and will be releasing his album "Picture Of Our Youth" unsigned. Feeling that his former record label was preventing him from sharing music that his fans could be proud of, Dixon has chosen to release his latest record via bandcamp on a pay-what-you-want basis. Joining an ever-growing number of artists who have started to self-release their work, Dixon embodies the current sentiment that one doesn't need a big record label to share their music, attract fans, or gain notoriety. In preparation for the [...]
It's not often that someone manages to release two tracks which we here at Upside Sounds classify as must-haves in the space of a week. It happens even less in the space of 3 days. Earlier this week, we were loving Le Crayon's collaboration with compatriot Oxford, remixing Metronomy . Today, the man has topped that. Lovely Swedes Miike Snow released Paddling Out last week as the first single from their second album (due March 26th!). It's awesome, and shows that Miike Snow still have plenty to offer after their incredible debut. Paddling [...]
I know I say this way too much, but I love it when artists cleverly play with vocals. With sampling only five words in "Demon," Kartell is able to create an emotional track that locks you in. It has awesome downtempo that straddles the line between a classy cocktail beat and a soothing jam you play for yourself on repeat. If you are anything like me, you're brain will be racing in the beginning, but then it will settle on that one person or thing that gets you going. It could be a sexy girl, a club or just some chill atmosphere. So kick [...]
In honor of reaching a mind-boggling 50,000 followers on soundcloud, Alfred Darlington, better known by his musical alias Daedelus , has decided to place 7 "adjustments" or remixes up for free-download on the site that has been showing him so much love. Featuring edits of Daft Punk, Aphex Twin, New Order, and his own original track titled "Adjustment Made," there's plenty for Daedulus' fans to be excited about and thankful for in these fantastic collection of songs. Now with all this said, I suggest you hit the play button below and mellow yourself out to the producers chopped and screwed arrangements. [...]
Sumsun is the musical project of West Palm Beach native Judson Rodgers and if I had to describe his sound in one word, I would probably go with "fluid." Like the pristine waters he's originally from, the notes that Sumsun pieces together flow as if they were waves gently skimming over the coast of a beach. Although their patterns and frequency are subject to change, their rhythms and motions have a tendency to put whoever is experiencing them in a clam and relaxed mood. Sun Glitters - They Don't Want to Let You Know (Sumsun Remix) [...]
When they were kids, Fare Soldi used to receive money at the end of each week from doing chores. By the end of the month, they would have saved enough money to buy one Golden track. Within a year, the duo would be able to buy 12 tracks with the "Paghetta" or pocket money they got from their parents. In the spirit of those simpler times, Fare Soldi have decided to take on the role of parent to their fans and give them one "Paghetta," or in this case, one funktastic banger every month. If this is just the first out [...]
I know, I know. You must be thinking to yourself, "Not another Metronomy remix!" But before you place your judgments, I suggest you reserve them until you actually listen to this edit French producers Le Crayon and Oxford managed to put together. Barring the original title of the track, everything about this remix exudes the sense that one is currently experiencing romance rather than having it abruptly snatched away from them. From it's silky-smooth intro that features lush, drawn-out synths and funky guitar riffs, to its brisk discoesque melodies throughout, this remix seems to have the word "LOVE" written all over [...]
Goldroom has been making it onto some of my favorite playlists lately and his new original, "Angeles," is no exception. For those of you that are not familiar with this breezy LA dj/producer, his name Josh Legg and he has been carving out a strong name for himself. Upside has featured him on two of our posts, Disco Friday 2 and Happy Nu Years . Both tracks there are must haves, especially his "Mother Protect" remix, originally by Niki & The Dove. From the start of "Angeles," Goldroom creates a soothing production by combining [...]
Hannes Fischer is back with another remix! And this time, the artist from Berlin has decided to modify one of the biggest names within the electronic music industry: SBTRKT. Usually when I hear that someone has attempted to edit one of SBTRKT's songs, I tend to grit my teeth and wince in agony as I re-think the myriad ways in which past musicians have butchered some of my favorite songs from him. Producing such a unique sound, I find it difficult for most producers to intertwine their own within something SBTRKT has already created. Often times, remixes end up conflicting [...]
It's not every day that you have your mind blown by music. And with mind-blowing I don't just mean something that will instantly get you moving or put a smile on your face. I mean the kind of mind-blowing where you're not sure what the kind of expression to put on your face, where you can't really do anything but sit and listen. It's difficult for me to name many artists that have produced as much music that does this to me over the past few years as the two entities involved in making this gem. As I'm sure you [...]

After long hours of reflection and days (maybe even weeks) of painstaking research, carrying out a variety of experiments and rendering myself half-deaf, I have come to a startling conclusion: there appears to be only one way to get over a winter depression. Forget what you've heard about alcohol and other narcotics, tanning beds, family holidays, mediocre comedy flicks, suicide, or whatever else you've been trying. The answer has been on this blog all along. Nu-Disco. 126 bpm Nu-Disco. Final DJs 126 bpm Nu-Disco. To be even more precise, Final DJs newest release - One Day In The [...]
