The two members of the Jet Age of Tomorrow , Matt Martians and Hal Williams, have been exceptionally busy since the release of their previous album, 20112s The Journey to the 5th Echelon . Among other things, Martians has been working on material as part of the Internet while Williams has continued to flesh out his career as Pyramid Vritra . But that didn't stop them for putting together some more music as the Jet Age of Tomorrow, which is made evident by today's release of Jellyfish Mentality . It's 100 percent free to download (!) and [...]

Did you know that intergalactic rap kings Kool Keith and Del The Funky Homosapien joined forces to form Dr. OctoTron? For those wondering, that's a combination of Keith's Dr. Octagon and Del's Deltron characters. Anyway, I don't know why this one flew so far under the radar, but they put out a two-track single, Spaz , on Threshold Recordings recently and we're now hearing the B-side. It's a spaced-out, albeit slightly funky, tune featuring guest vocals from Motion Man and production from KutMasta Kurt. You can stream the track below. [...]

This year's Soundset Festival is a few days away and as someone who partied the night before, didn't eat enough and missed a crucial interview last year, I did not have the best experience possible. It was an amazing day, but it wasn't as good as it could have bee. Because we are so kind at Potholes, we thought it would be great to have our friends give you a few tips on how to enjoy the day comfortably instead of having the little things bother you. We managed to gather a Soundset host, performer, a current and former Rhymesayers [...]
Koreless – Yugen Young Turks: 2013 Lewis Roberts is clearly a man who places quality over quantity. The 21-year-old Welshman who currently resides in Glasgow and operates musically under the moniker Koreless has only put out two singles of his own to date (“4D” and “Lost In Tokyo”), but each one is held in such high regard by punters and musicians alike that you’d be mistaken for thinking he was a well-established veteran of the electronic scene. “Lost In Tokyo” was released on Toronto producer Jacques Greene’s Vase Records, he’s remixed the likes of [...]

Good lord , Nacho Picasso . This new song, "F*ck Rio", is insane, through and through. I'm not sure where the audio of the woman, Rio, stems from and if it's actually some groupie who flipped out on the Seattle rapper, but that doesn't really matter. The track is essentially a spaced-out shot of vitriol delivered through one of hip-hop's finest cold-hearted talents. Dude drops so many quotables here that I could have probably just listed those instead of writing the previous sentences. Listen to the track below.

After dropping off the passionate " Shaka Zulu ", F.Stokes is back at it with the second leak from his forthcoming album "19543. Capturing the story of his grandfather's relocation from Arkansas to Chicago in 1954, F.Stokes paints a different picture of a city that has been illustrated an awful lot in recent hip-hop. And Doomtree's Paper Tiger does a fantastic job handling production duties, too. Fearless Beauty drops June 17.

If Mayer Hawthorne's new single wasn't enough, here is another soulful jam to get excited about. Thanks to the resurgence of Booker T. Jones of Booker T & The MGs fame, we get a sample-driven new jam that sets the mood for T's forthcoming full-length Sound The Alarm . With features from the likes of Estelle, Anthony Hamilton and Gary Clark Jr., this is sure to be quite the record when it drops. [ via ] Give the title track "Sound The Alarm" a spin below.

Following a pretty crazy bit of promotional material surrounding their new album Tomorrow's Harvest , Boards Of Canada are finally ready to let us hear what really matters: the music. The Scottish duo has revealed the first track from the LP and "Reach For The Dead" a slow-building, richly layered piece. There's a melancholic vibe to the synthesizers that revolve around the eventually skittering percussion and it's difficult not to get lost in everything that comes at you. The ambient, almost-choral vocals (right?) are especially haunting. You can stream the song below. Tomorrow's Harvest [...]
![Open Mike Eagle – “Free-Writing Exercise” F. Nocando [Video]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4967327_lg.jpg)
I can always count on guys like Open Mike Eagle and Nocando to deliver hip-hop that's both intelligent and humorous. And those qualities often find themselves running through their music videos, too, like the newly revealed "Free-Writing Exercise". The track, which appears on Mike's 4NML Hsptl , serves as the soundtrack for a behind-the-scenes look at a summer blockbuster ... that looks friggin' awesome. Or absurd. Or both! I'm not sure, but I do know this is just great. You can watch the video below. Grab Nocan's latest project [...]

It's about time Chris Alfaro announced a new Free The Robots project, as we are constantly craving his jazzy instrumentation. The new project to look forward to is the In Other Worlds EP, which sports the lead single "Transmission". The psychedelic, jazz-driven production is perhaps Alfaro's most expansive work to date. That isn't to say his previous work has been lacking, but something about this track seems more challenging and progressive. Perhaps it is the piano-laden backdrop, or the zoned-out transitions that fade in and out with every lick of the synthesizer. [ via ] Anyway, [...]

Hey you, sittin' over there, you better get up outta your chair. This new Disclosure song, "When a Fire Starts to Burn", is the definition of a dance floor jam. It stems from their forthcoming full-length LP, Settle , which keeps sounding better and better with each track that hits the web. Seriously, this is funky, bouncy, and infectious in all the best ways, and you just have to love that vocal sample. You can stream the track below. Settle drops June 4. [ via ]

Those of you looking for some music to ride out to this long weekend will be happy to know Chuck Inglish just dropped a collection of trunk-rattling jams. His latest free release, Droptops , is bursting with bass that's destined to shake your rearview mirror, annoy your neighbors, and make your holiday that much more enjoyable. I mean, just listen to the uber-thick "Back Up" remix or "Drops" and try to keep the volume at a minimum. Guests on here include Asher Roth , Buddy , and slept-on duo Da$h & Retch . [...]

Aceyalone has really been on a funk/soul kick these past few years. I remember his previous album, Aceyalone & The Lonely Ones , brimming with feel-good jams and sing-along hooks. And from what I've heard so far, his follow-up, Leanin' On Slick , follows a similar approach. This one's funkier, though, and definitely ready for all your summer listening needs. I know it's not summer yet, but it's definitely warm enough in Raleigh to make me think I should be on a beach somewhere. That reminds me... You can stream the album below.

We've been hooked on singer-songwriter/producer Mikky Ekko since we heard his Clams Casino-produced single, " Pull Me Down ", last October. This led us to dig back into his discography and it turns out that he has a few pretty damn good EPs to his name. Not only that, but he recently watched his stock rise considerably following a guest appearance on Rihanna's "Stay" single. He even took the stage with RiRi at this year's Grammy Awards and I'm willing to bet you have heard their collaboration on the radio at least a few times. Most [...]

To celebrate 10 years of Scion, the car company is putting together a compilation sporting music from ten stellar independent artists. Our first taste of the project also happened to be on Jonwayne 's Cassette 2 , which is a collaboration between himself and fellow rapper/producer Jeremiah Jae . This, of course, is a clean version, but it hits just as hard as it certainly does on the tape release. The Scion compilation will also feature music from the likes of Poolside, Chromatics, Harry Fraud and Smoke DZA. Tracks will drop sporadically between now and [...]

We still don't know when Earl Sweatshirt's proper debut, Doris , will be released, but hey, that's perfectly fine. Why? Because dude's been slowly rolling out tracks from the album and creating a ridiculous amount of anticipation for the project. Just today he shared his collaboration with Mac Miller, "Guild", that the two performed together in Los Angeles this past March. It's a superbly blunted, codeine-laced journey through the minds of Mac and Earl, the latter of whom also produced the cut. You can listen to "Guild" below. [ via ]

Quadron 's sophomore full-length, Avalanche , is almost here. But before it drops on June 4, they're keeping the momentum of "Hey Love" going with the release of "Better Off". It features a guest verse from Kendrick Lamar, which is only fitting given the connection between him and Quadron's Robin Hannibal. You see, Hannibal's work with Boom Clap Bachelors was sampled on Lamar's " Bitch, Don't Kill My Vibe ". Here, he's provided a slightly jazzy backdrop from frontwoman Coco O. and the Compton MC, who is a natural fit for this feature. Stream "Better Off" below. [ [...]

Earlier this week, we caught some footage of James blake performing four tracks live in the KEXP studios out in Seattle. And while we were obviously thankful for that, it's nothing compared to what NPR has delivered. They had their cameras rolling for his show at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. and they're now presenting it in all its high-definition glory. I'd say either save this one for later or the impending long weekend ... when you're a lil' faded. You can watch the show below. [ via ]

Ryan Hemsworth doesn't waste time. Last week, he revealed that he had a new EP, Still Awake , on the way and, as promised, it's already here. For free . Yeah, I wasn't betting on getting this thing for the cost of a few mouse clicks, but I am most certainly glad that's the case. Hemsworth's rep is growing bigger every single day, and this is just another chance for new listeners to get acquainted with his fantastic sound. Seriously, dude's the tops, and you should be listening to him. Right. Now. You can download the EP [...]

Yes, summer is fast-approaching, but perhaps you guys need some tunes to help you get in the warm weather spirit. Count on the lovable indie-pop tones of TV Girl to take us there, as they drop off the audio to their latest single "She Smokes In Bed". While we often times ask for artists to progress and reinvent their sound, it appears TV Girl has chosen instead to build and improve on their already infectious formula. That is, catchy lo-fi jams with a hint of nostalgia. "She Smokes In Bed" will land on TV Girl's forthcoming [...]
