Shields is the fourth studio album by American indie rock band Grizzly Bear. The group, which formed in Brooklyn, New York in 2002, consists of Chris Bear, Ed Droste, Daniel Rossen, and Chris Taylor. The album has charted well since its release on September 18, reaching number seventeen on the UK Albums Chart, and number seven on the U.S. Billboard 200. Thirty-two-year-old singer/songwriter Regina Spektor released her sixth studio album on May 29, three years after her last release, Far. Born in Moscow, Soviet Union, Regina has used her exceptional story telling ability and broad vocal range to create six unique full-length albums over the past eleven years. Her latest work, What We Saw from the Cheap Seats, was promoted through two recent tours, and has received generally favorable reviews from critics. British alternative indie rock group Alt-J (Stylized as "∆") released their debut studio album, An Awesome Wave, on May 25. According to their website, "The delta sign is created when you hold down the alt key on your computer keyboard and punch ‘J’ on a Mac computer. The symbol has a deeper meaning for the band, as guitarist/bassist Gwil Sainsbury notes, “in mathematical equations it’s used to show change,” and the band’s relatively new name came at a turning point in their lives." Alabama Shakes is an American rock band consisting of Brittany Howard (Vocals), Heath Fogg (Guitar), Zac Cockrell (Bass), and Steve Johnson (Drums). The group formed in Athens, Alabama in 2009, and on April 9 they released their debut album, Boys & Girls. "Default" is the first single released from the alternative rock & electronic group Atoms For Peace, as they prepare for their forthcoming debut album, Amok. Formed in 2009, the group consists of Radiohead lead singer Thom Yorke and producer Nigel Godrich, Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, Joey Waronker of Beck & R.E.M., and instrumentalist Mauro Refosco. Chill Bump, a rap duo out of Tours, France released their fourth EP yesterday, titled The Loop. The EP follows three other free releases, including "Starting From Scratch," "Back To The Grain," and "Hidden Strings." Electronic music composer (and YouTube celebrity) Ronald Jenkees released his third independent album on November 21, three years after his last album, Disorganized Fun. Jenkees began making music in 2003, and Days Away is another prime example of the wide variety of genres that can be found in his music. Collaborating since 2004, emcee Murs and producer 9th Wonder have come together once again time for the release of their final album together, aptly titled The Final Adventure. Beginning with their critically acclaimed debut album, Murs 3:16: The 9th Edition, the duo have churned out an album every two years, including Murray’s Revenge in 2006, Sweet Lord in 2008, and 2010’s Fornever.
