Summertime is upon us and for Los Angeles that means heat, traffic, and beach trips. The music scene, though, is fourth. One of the great things about Los Angeles, aside from Dodgers games and fast cars, is the talent this city houses. From Local Natives to Red Hot Chili Peppers, they’re based in LA. The ...

In preparation for his first full-length album, The Light Within, to be released on May 14th, New York-based singer-songwriter Jared Saltiel has released a new single and a B-side to hold us over. Much like his work on his two previous EPs, Holy Grail Blues and The Moon, Mary, and Me show off Saltiel’s unique ...
Following the success of their stunning debut Vacation, Big Scary have recently released two singles in the run up to album number two, Not Art. Luck Now, the second of the two, is a rich and melodic affair. Opening with a syncopated drum loop that wriggles into the mind before melting into the lush piano sounds familiar to Big ...
Fresh off premiering their new track at Coachella, Disclosure officially released "You and Me" earlier today in the UK. "You and Me" brings along Eliza Doolittle providing the vocals that everyone has come to love. The song is similar to many of Disclosure's previous tracks but may very well be their best yet. Eliza Doolittle is wrapping up her sophmore album. She recently released a teaser song called, "Don't Call It Love When It's Really Life." Click to play: Disclosure ...
From the opening bars of Say What You Mean, Allison Weiss, a young Brookyln transplant, asserts herself as a powerful force with her sweet voice, energetic guitar riffs, and clever and honest lyrics. Bringing together the edge of The Strokes and uniquely perceptive lyrics about young romance that give Tegan and Sara a run for their money, Weiss’s second full-length album stands out amongst other indie-pop/rock records by eschewing the requisite apathy and bath of reverb in favor for killer ...
This came across my Twitter feed today and I kind of laughed when it was introduced as "How you properly Rebecca Black." My thoughts raced to an image of the former "Friday" singer, and I was fully prepared to have myself at least a little laugh. Instead, I really enjoyed it. It wasn't great, but it was a little easy to listen to. She's not Rebecca Black in the sense that she's talking about school, instead she has support from ...
The Knocks and St. Lucia together have to make for one of the best records of the year, undoubtedly. St. Lucia have been delivering on all the hype from 2012, but they this connection with The Knocks is probably one of the finest gems from the band. Easily, The Knocks make any song a pleasure to listen to. They stick to what they do best and it shows song in and song out.

Having been off the site for a month now, it's good to get back to listening to great bands. I've been waiting to post this delight of a band for some time now as their new tracks contain an easy-listening, yet hard-hitting rage of tunes. We Are Falcon, the London-based indie folk band, released their self-titled EP March 21st with their two biggest hits being "Second Go," and "Fever Nova." Each song is a delicate blend of folk and crafted ...
Brooklyn based indie rock song writer Allison Weiss is gearing up to release her new full-length album Say What You Mean on April 16th via No Sleep Records. In the meantime, she has premiered a new song over at AltPress. The song, "Wait For Me", is a heartfelt folk song that exchanges Weiss’s usual punk outfit in favor of a simple acoustic guitar accompaniment ornamented with lush strings. The complex lyrics find our narrator leaving her significant other, upset but ...
Before you start reading our review, go below and start playing Nantes' "Avid." Let the music sink in. Nantes, a five-piece band from Sydney, have an uncanny way of becoming to a soundtrack-like tune in whatever 3-minute track you choose. Lead singer David Rogers is the defining voice of Nantes; with vocals that becoming a driving force of the synth-and-drum duo behind it. "Avid," the lead single of BeingsBeing, couldn't be any more of an eargasm. With past hits such ...
In today’s musical climate, people would be more inclined to associate ‘Folk’ and ‘Bluegrass’ with the homogenized stomping and strumming of British band Mumford and Sons or Icelandic group Of Monsters and Men than anything that stays truer to the lineage of American Folk music. With that in mind, Cre EP is a breath of much needed fresh-air. Indiana natives Dave Alpert (Guitars/Vocals) and Morris Burns (Mandolin/Vocals) put tradition first in their exquisite four song EP. Together with producer Doucer ...
I've been selfishly holding back on posting this remix because of just how good this is. Though, it may have been because I kept playing the song over and over again. Formerly known as KO-KO. Pacific Air have been killing it with their EPs and remixes. We caught them live in Santa Ana the Griffith Observatory and they're better than advertised. These SoCal mates hooked up on their touring mates', Ra Ra Riot, latest hit, "When I Dream;" off the ...
Phoenix' new album, Bankrupt!, is scheduled to be released on April 23rd, and this is the first full-length track the band has released. Phoenix released their album artwork and tracklist not too long ago but if you've been dying to sample their new tunes, you're finally able to. "Entertainment" is a synth-driven craze yet simple enough to keep us itching for more.
Hoodie Allen is a non-stop music-dropping machine. Seriously, when does the guy ever stop making music? Hoodie dropped the first track ("Cake Boy") to the Crew Cuts mixtape last week. Today, he's dropped the music video to "Fame is For Assholes" which has a verse from Chiddy of Chiddy Bang. Any track where Chidera hits on the verse is a dope track. Crew Cuts is due out on Wednesday.
J. Cole dropped some previews from his sophomore album titled, Yours Truly. These are raw, unfinished tracks but show that Cole is still at the top of the rap game. His single should drop sometime this week. J. Cole - Rise Above J. Cole - Tears For ODB J. Cole - Stay (2009) J. Cole - Crunch Time J. Cole - Can I Holla At Ya Download J. Cole's Yours Truly.
