We all expected some remixes for the Atoms For Peace songs and who better to help out with that project than Four Tet . Here goes the reverse of that idea with Yorke and company remixing one of Tet's tracks "Pyramid". My money is on a split remix release. Still bummed that Liacouras is the best we could get for the Philly show.
Ville Valo is looking like a stretched out Smeagol in the new video from H.I.M. The title track off Tears On Tape is not very good, but I heard another tune "All Lips Go Blue" that was a little more true to their better sound. There is an obscene amount of buzz around the new Daft Punk album. The lead single with Pharrell has been getting a ton of attention. Another Record Store Day exclusive, Manchester Orchestra teamed up with the always happy Grouplove for a split vinyl. The tune "Make It To Me" is fun. I'm digging the dubstep sound they went for on this. Hopefully an MP3 comes around soon. They also did a track with Frightened Rabbit called "Architect". Not as exciting to me.
MGMT released their new single "Alien Days" via Soundcloud. Taking hipster to a-whole-nother level, the band issued a cassette single today for Record Store Day with the new track that will be featured on their upcoming third album. I'm not super impressed with this track, but it's not bad. It sounds like Congratulations material, which I liked more than their debut. Hopefully the rest of the album is a little more exciting.
Tim & Eric are back with a six episode web series called Tim & Eric's Go Pro Show that follows the every day lives of the comedy favorites. Check out the first two episodes that premiered yesterday and today on YouTube. Not much going on, but you do get to see the guys receive calls from Hollywood big wigs like Spielberg and Pacino. Ghostface Killah was quiet for a short minute, but an unexpected new project with Adrian Younge is his latest venture. I thought him and Doom were supposed to have a full album together, but I'll take this. He gets a few Wu-Tang guest spots, including INS, Cappadonna, U-God, and Masta Killah. I am shocked that "Original Don" didn't make the album, even if it is old as fuck by now. Empire Of The Sun are well overdue for new music. The follow up to Walking On A Dream is five years in the making and the first taste is "Alive", the lead single from Ice On The Dune , due out in June. I was super excited to see they will be at Made In America. The bizarre outfits and stage performance should be an attraction at the two-day festival at the end of the summer.
