It pains me to say it, but I haven't heard a single good thing come from The Strokes this time around. That said, I still want to give Comedown Machine a shot. The early leaks were completely unexciting. I had hoped that the new album would redeem the New Yorkers for the super disappointing Angles . Let's see what they have to offer for 2013. In paying homage to MCR , here is my favorite of their tracks. Gerard Way and company announced today that My Chemical Romance  has official called it a day. With a lack of interest in their most recent release of singles, I guess the time is right. I remember when they blew up from a couple videos on Fuse to the arena rockers they became with The Black Parade . They'll be missed. My question is what is next for James Dewees now? Major Lazer enlist Vampire Weekend frontman Ezra Koenig for the next track off their upcoming Free The Universe album. Diplo lays down more of an authentic reggae beat than the dancefloor bangers we've come to expect. This is definite high guy music that will get better with listens. MAJR LAZER FEAT. John Nolan was getting back on his grind doing a short solo tour, performing acoustic versions of songs from Taking Back Sunday, Straylight Run, and his short-lived run at a solo career. Unfortunately, the singer-songwriter was in a car accident and has canceled his show scheduled for tonight at The Barbary . Very disappointing news. I was looking forward to hearing some of those classic tunes and most likely a cover or two. Empire Of The Sun go the Daft Punk route and tease us with a 15-second snippet of some new music that will land on their upcoming album. Or at least we can assume that. The Australians take a full 2.5 minutes to get around to the short taste of the disco rhythms fans have come to know and love. Luke Steele sure does know how to rock a fancy headdress. New music finally from this duo 2013. Well overdue.

Wavves will be back in Philly at Johnny Brenda's on April 9th, but between now and then, the new album Afraid Of Heights will be released. March 26th is the official date. Justin Timberlake made his 5th hosting visit to Saturday Night Live last night and brought a bunch of celebrities with him, including Hov for a performance of "Suit & Tie". JT did most of his recurring characters from his SNL history. No Barry Gibb Talk Show though. R.I.P. Robin Gibb. The second performance was "Mirrors". No outro. Bummer. Producer Harry Fraud has been showing suckers that his beat game is on point the past year or two. His work with French and Action Bronson has been generating the most buzz in my own mind, but now we get to hear him team up with a whole squad of MC's. Check out his new mixtape Adrift . Thom Yorke and Nigel Godrich hosted a mix on BBC Radio 1 that includes plenty of Yorke material but nothing from the duo's new Atoms For Peace release. Regardless, worth a listen. It starts off with Thom and Johnny Greenwood's track with Doom which I am a big fan of. If you have two hours to kill, check out the full thing. Likely, you'll just skip around like I did. I've never gotten much into Beach House , but when I saw that their latest video was directed by Eric Wareheim , I had to give it a look.
