Last night we went to our first show of the year ( Annuals / Jessica Lea Mayfield ) and it was such a positive experience (undoubtably having a lot to do with the the company that we were in, but the music was great too) that it got us pretty excited for upcoming shows. Below is a sampling of music from some bands that we think you should definitely check out: Enjoy* 5. (mp3) The Little Ones - Like A Spoke On A Wheel [...]

Having gained comparisons to bands such as Animal Collective and Broken Social Scene -- we've decided Annuals' eclectic and experimental style is a difficult one to categorize. We encourage you to listen for yourself (that is, if you are not yet familiar with Annuals' music) and give us your own creative opinion and description via comment or email. As always, your feedback is appreciated, in this case making you eligible to win two free tickets to the Annuals (with opener Jessica Lea Mayfield ) show this Friday [...]

Back in the days before all these gigantic cumbersome bailouts, when you worked for a financial institution (such as myself) you used to get off holidays like MLK day. However, now that we are in this complete melt down of the financial markets and since all these bailouts have taken place I no longer get those "Bank/School Holidays" off -- which is exactly why I am thrilled to have today off instead. *** On a side note, I wanted to add that I did not get a chance to watch any of the inauguration ysterday because [...]

While Jose is hard at work on this frigid and snowy Saturday, I am relaxing and simply trying to stay warm. But lucky for me, I have Lily (pictured above as a puppy) to cuddle with as I watch The Craft for the umpteenth time. My sister and brother-in-law have placed their "child" in our hands throughout the next week while they vacation in Hawaii -- I cannot imagine a better time to escape this weather. . .those lucky bastards ;) Anyhow, before Jose comes home, I was assigned [...]
On Christmas Eve, when I was at work it was a really slow day -- so slow in fact that they let us leave by 10am that morning. However, before I was sent home I decided that I had enough of having this song by The Rolling Stones song stuck in my head for years that I did not know the name of. The most recent time I had heard it was when I was The Colony with Justin before we went to go see Slumdog Millionaire (go see if [...]

Staying in on this Monday evening feels especially good -- the following are some elements heightening our enjoyment :) 1. Animal Collective's new album: Merriweather Post Pavilion [Mp3] Animal Collective - My Girls 2. Root: 1 Sauvignon Blanc [Casablanca Valley, Chile 2007] $10.99 @ Giant Eagle 3. Andrew Bird's new [...]

Today we were awakened to the sound of the plow...luckily neither of us had to work. Unfortunately Kelly had to get up at 9am to "get her toes done up and her finger nails matchin" for her friend Ali's wedding. Kelly said she can't believe she has to warm a brides maid dress in this freaking weather. & That my friends is why you don't have a wedding in Cleveland during the dead winter you have it in a place warm.... like south western Florida ;) I wish we were still there. [...]
On this Monday morning you may be griping because you are headed back to work, school etc after that nice break. You may just be down because you are frustrated about the state of the browns, that cavs game yesterday (that call was total b.s.) or the fact that Ohio State is going to get killed again on the national stage again tonight. Or perhaps you are bummed out about the cold (at least it is sunny today), the increase in gas prices, how inept our local politicians are etc. Whatever the reason is you can hopefully take a minute [...]

Just the other week, while down in Naples for our wedding (we're still recovering and eventually will return to consistent blog form, promise), we were hitting up our favorite blogs to see what the haps were back in C-town. In doing so, we discovered that our friend Justin had found a new local brewery called in Indigo Imp . We checked out the Husband/Wife duo's website and noticed that they were demonstrating tastings at a variety of local Heinen's stores, making us wonder whether they were already selling at Heinen's -- low and behold, to [...]

While Jose is spending the afternoon doing man things (aka drinking and eating) with his brother in-law and dad, I am enjoying the peaceful quiet of being alone. This sense of relaxation is something that I haven't felt in quite some time! In doing so, I find it particularly therapeutic listening to the following beautiful Christmas tunes :) 5. [Mp3] Sally Shapiro - Anorak Christmas (Piano Version) Loove love love this [...]

...for NAPLES in about 2 hours to go spend a week of sun, friends and family. The reason for all for all of this celebration is none other than our WEDDING. We are ecstatic to see those of you who are going and those who cannot come, you will be in our thoughts. Regardless, be sure to a have a drink for us on Saturday night :) (mp3) Reindeer Section - You Are My Joy just look at that title (mp3) Bishop Allen - Corazon [...]
With Jose and my wedding date approaching rapidly and *finally* taking place (this coming Saturday to be exact), there have been endless anecdotes and references made by our friends. The most favorite of mine being a recent message from Lopez , reminding me of the following stunningly beautiful Volkswagen Commercial: {mp3} J Ralph - One Million Miles As a result of this nostalgia created, I couldn't help to think of the ever so memorable closing scene from [...]

Back in September, you may or may not recall the life changing moment when we played Rock Band for the very first time -- this event happened to take place @ Ben & Colleen's House. [Speaking of Rock Band, we're both hoping to receive it as a Wedding and/or Christmas Gift: umm, hint hint.] Anyhow, Ben is the husband of Colleen who was Kelly's roommate for a couple of years @ Miami . They are both awesome and Ben just so happens to have really kick ass music taste and just yesterday [...]

Pictured above is our very first tree. Both of us are purists when it comes to Christmas trees, however, given our complete lack of time this holiday season, we opted for a pre-lit no fuss fake tree . Also, since we have very little furniture, our little tree really helps spruce up the room (no pun intended). Now all we need is a quality pine scented candle -- God forbid, we would never get one of those crappy air freshner brand ones. One major bonus of the fake tree is we won't have to vacuum [...]
Last Saturday evening, while Kelly, CB & I were at the Winking Lizard, enjoying some brews, we heard a lot of good and bad music. The very bad being when we first walked in and decided to not sit at the bar because this obnoxious guy nearby was singing Lyndard Skynard's "What Your Name" really loud and out of key (I am tone deaf too but that was just a bit much). We proceeded to be seated over into another room and trudged threw several bad songs until finally a good one came up, which was [...]

Design above from Ohio Boy Yesterday in our email box we were excited because we got an email from Ohio Boy letting us know that finally their site had been updated. It has been quite a while and long over due their previous site did not do justice for the quality of their work. For those who don't know Ohio Boy is the work of the supremely talented, Kent educated, Ohio bred artist & designer Andy Taray . His list of work is long and impressive including [...]

You may recall our plans over the the weekend: Attending the GCP Holiday Party ( Note: our apologies for having too good of a time to photograph it, but perhaps the photo that was taken of us there by a photographer from The Plain Dealer Society Section will be published) , Hitting up MOCA and The Browns game. . . The following pictures were taken at the start of and throughout this past *extended* weekend: [...]

Today I called in sick to the office (makes a coughing noise) but for real I am under the weather and feeling run down. I also had to keep my streak going over the last month for various reasons I have not had a week where I worked a whole week m-f straight thru. One of the main reasons for taking today off is that we have got some fun plans this weekend and I don't want to miss out. Tonight we are headed to GPC Public Officials Reception @ Windows on the River. It is [...]
Our last night in Naples, we went to the most wonderful gourmet ice cream and chocolate shop, known as Kilwin's . Usually getting ice cream at Kilwin's is a very enjoyable experience. . .however, not so much this time. Upon entering the ice cream shop, the beginning notes from LFO's "Summer Girls" (or that song about a guy who likes girls who wear Abercrombie & Fitch) started playing, causing Jose to let out an angry "WTF?? I hate this song." It's almost as if Jose took [...]

You may or may not have noticed, there has been a significant lack of posts from us. The reason being. . .we've been crazy busy. A lot of the craziness is due to planning all of the festivities surrounding our wedding -- however, we must admit that the process has been surprisingly seamless. It's hard to believe that we are getting married exactly 4 weeks from today! In our true procrastinatory nature, to acknowledge this fast approaching date, this afternoon we finally had the opportunity to purchase our wedding [...]
