Shot at twilight (or "magic hour" as it's known in the film world) over the course of 42 days, this gorgeous video from director Colin Kennedy follows professional skateboarder Danny Garcia as he navigates Los Angeles in the final moments of daylight, which I think that makes this the " Days of Heaven " of skateboard videos.

This amazing video from director Ohji Inou takes you on a Kubrickian journey through outer space by way of vintage romance novel covers. That may sound like a completely ridiculous concept (and it is) but what's crazier is how well it actually works. The visuals are executed flawlessly and it all builds up to a fantastic climax where a cacophony of romance novel imagery is sucked into some type of vortex. It's as awesome as it is baffling.

Director Ryan Enn Hughes takes an energetic performance from Toronto band The oOohh Baby Gimme Mores and animates it with a super-colorful poster edge look that's extremely inventive and eye-catching.

After coming off that very entertaining David Guetta video just a couple weeks back, we already have another new video from reliably off-the-wall Swedish director Andreas Nilsson , this time for Dizzee Rascal 's latest single "Goin' Crazy" with Robbie Williams . The one-shot Quadrophenia -inspired video stars the two British artists as rival Mods and Rockers gang leaders parading down the street in electric mobility scooters for the elderly.

Director Eric Power helms this beautiful stop-motion animated video for Northern Bells "Animal Kingdom" which relies entirely on stylish, meticulously-created paper cut-outs. The clip follows a group of intertwined creatures in a strange, dreamlike world who all yearn for something more but meet the same tragic end.

Earlier this year veteran video director Floria Sigismondi helmed the Tilda Swinton -starring clip for David Bowie 's " The Stars (Are Out Tonight) " and she's now reteaming with Bowie and bringing along a couple more high-profile actors, Gary Oldman and Marion Cotillard . The result is a profoundly weird and visceral filled with weird religious imagery, lots of blood and a brilliantly meta ending.

This clever video from director Aaron Lampert uses rapping puppets and some rad visuals / camerawork / locations to spread environmental awareness for MC Prolyphic & Buddy Peace 's track "Go Green". They had me at "rapping puppets".

Directing duo  HARRYS created the impressive video for Toro y Moi's " So Many Details " last December and they're back to their blissfully retro ways with this video for Kurt Vile 's "Never Run Away". The directors' intention was to evoke the iconic album covers of 702s artists like Harry Nilsson and Neil Young and with the vivid, often surreal imagery of Vile playing guitar amid a smoke-filled bus and snowy urban decay, I say they accomplish that splendidly.

Elliot Sellers directs this lovely music video for Crystal Fighters "You & I" which combines gorgeous California landscapes with animatronics in a touching story of friendship between an adorable little dancing bird and a mustachioed talking tree.

In Swedish director Andreas Nilsson 's follow-up to his spoof of black/hip-hop culture, " Birthday Song ", the master of bizarre/surreal music videos takes on Latin culture for David Guetta 's "Play Hard". It's a video full of weird and memorable images from Mexican pointy boots (which is an actual fashion trend ), Ne-Yo indulging in stacks of pancakes, to unibrowed beauty queens eating Popsicles, but the highlight for me has to be the chain of tattooers who are also getting tattoos. Genius.

Superb directing team Young Replicant 's first music video of 2013 is this beautiful clip for Bonobo 's "First Fires" which tells an intriguing story of a volatile relationship and features some truly stunning cinematography which focuses on contrasting images of water and fire.

Ryan Staake directs this incredible video for A-Trak and Tommy Trash 's "Tuna Melt" featuring a giant, increasingly complex Rube Goldberg machine that progresses through every room in a house, incorporating dominoes, paper airplanes, submarines, and fittingly, a tuna melt in it's elaborate design. It's the fast and furious camerawork is what really sets the clip apart from other Rube Goldberg videos like OK Go's " All Things Must Pass ". Director Hayley Morris uses various animation techniques from hand-painted water colors to stop-motion claymation in this beautiful, poignant video for Iron & Wine 's "Joy", taking its inspiration from the song lyric "Deep inside the heart of this crazy mess, I’m only calm when I get lost within your wilderness".

This beautiful, yet unsettling video for "Overgrown", the title track for James Blake 's new album, was directed by superstar music video director Nabil . This cinematographic gem shows James Blake wandering along a remote hillside, while being stalked by dark, hooded figures.

I launched Seen Your Video just over a year ago and to commemorate our anniversary, I've made a long-overdue list of the Best Music Videos of 2000s . While researching the 2K decade in music videos, I found it largely to be a story of two halves. Last year's consensus rookie music video director of the year, Emily Kai Bock is back with this stunning, cinematic B&W video starring Kenneth Welsh ( another Twin Peaks veteran, Windom Earle !) in a emotional performance of an solitary old man coming to terms with his frail existence.

Ian & Cooper direct this stunning video for Joel Compass' "Back To Me" that tells an emotional tale about life & death and fathers & sons, tale using cinemagraphs , a GIF-like technique of still images with just one isolated motion. It's a wonderfully executed video and features plenty of gorgeous black-and-white imagery.

A girl searches for her missing pet (played by Stanley the giraffe) in this adorable video for Chris Malinchak's single "So Good to Me". The video is a realization of British director Robert Hales , who is most famous for directing Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy" . On a side note, who knew giraffes were so good at hide-and-seek?

The ever-brilliant directing duo DANIELS released their first music video of 2013 today, a visually imaginative dream scene for Passion Pit 's "Cry Like A Ghost". The seemingly one-take clip portrays a girl bouncing like a "pendulum, heartbroken and numb" (as noted by the song lyrics) between her many romantic relationships, featuring some of the innovative dancing effects that DANIELS created for their very first music, FM Belfast's " Underwear ".

A new Megaforce video is always something to get excited about, and the French directing team don't disappoint with this gripping reverse-edit narrative (think Memento meets Dogville ) starring actress/model Lily Cole as the town bicycle who stirs up a riotous, jealous witch-hunt among the hypocritical townsfolk. It's a chilling, fantastically well-executed tale that pretty much requires multiple viewings.
