wow, am I on a roll or what? Here's another uplifting summer tune from a to me completely unknown band called Mistery Fix . Their new song Syllogismobile has a funny flute-intro and a slight Ska-influence, and it should definitely make you tap along. The song is downloadable including a B-Side from here: http://mysteryfix.com/ Then there's something for [...]
Since the weather has also arrived in summertime, why not stick with the topic and continue with some more summery-lite-and-breezy music? Swedish label Labrador has just released Sambassadeur 's I Can Try as a free download, and if there's one summer-album around, it has to be the band's latest, European . Don't believe it? Well, try out former singles Days and Stranded [...]

You just have to love Matinée Recordings ! Not only do they have a great lineup for us indie-pop-lovers, they also make it very easy for bloggers to promote their acts (and most of all those bloggers among us who don't have much time on their hands... ). So here's a simple copy-and-paste-post about the - damn great - new release from Bubblegum Lemonade : Scottish pop act Bubblegum Lemonade have a [...]

It really has become a MOTM-Feature, this monthly post on the latest offering from those popsters Viola . Latest offering is Popsicle Summer , and the song really delivers what the title promises: an uplifting, breezy summer tune to sing and tap along. Now if only summer would arrive... http://violamusicclub.com/ Viola - Popsicle Summer (MP3)

...please! I haven't completely forgotten this blog and the readers (yes, both of you! ). But there's just no time for any lengthy articles, so this here's another short one. On the other hand, it's the music that counts, so grab what you get! Danish band Alcoholic Faith Mission (love that name!) has released their new album this March, and the song My Eyes To See has somehow hit a nerve with me. Reminds me of Arcade Fire [...]

A new remix from our favourite wall-of-sound band The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart : The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart - Higher Than The Stars (Others In Conversation Remix) (MP3) and just for those who still have missed out on the original (shame on you, btw.! ): The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart - Higher Than The Stars [...]
…no, I wasn't on holiday (although the lack of recent posts might suggest that). The Danes from Kashmir are on tour right now, and visited Switzerland last Saturday, and even better at a convenient location just 20 minutes away from my home. I'm glad they chose that location, because otherwise I could very well have been too lazy to travel further. And I would have missed one of the best concerts this year! But I didn't, and the musical firework that Kashmir burned down was just [...]

And Finnish indie-pop-heroes Cats On Fire are fully responsible for that! Their take on 90s lo-fi hit Your Woman is nothing short but brilliant, and original artist Jyoti Mishra aka White Town should be very pleased with it. Your Woman is the lead track of Cats On Fire 's new compilation Dealing In Antiques which will be released on May 12th via the [...]

So I finally reloaded all my old posts from the Blogger-account ( here 's the whole story if you've not yet heard about it) to WordPress. All the links are still there, but I guess quite a few won't work anymore. And I will also start to remove all "dubious" links over the next few weeks (probably months), to prevent any legal actions. I have to admit that I really got comfortable with WordPress, and hearing about Blogger still deleting blogs out of the blue only confirms my decision to switch. [...]

Normally, I'm not a big fan of Best-Of-Compilations, especially when there's nothing new on it, or just one or two - often less than average - new songs. But now and then, there are some exceptions, and The Places Between , the first Greatest Hits album by UK's Doves , is just one of those rare cases. That is, if you're willing to go for the Extended Edition that includes 2 CDs with a total of 34 songs (15 regular singles, 3 new songs and a whole bunch of rarities, [...]

…and has brought the Seagull as well. The Year Of The How-To Book , the second full-length album by Nebraska's own Eagle Seagull , has finally been released this March. Back in early 2008, new songs have been popping up on Last.FM, but it took two more years before the follow-up to 20062s self-titled debut was released into the wild. Having created quite a buzz in the blogosphere and amongst critics as well over the past few weeks/months, Eagle Seagull really do live up [...]

Another one bites the dust. Swedish electro-pop-band Thermostatic has called it quits. Although their sound was pretty special and definitely not suited for every occasion (and maybe even annoying to some 80s-pop-haters… ), I quite liked what they did. They leave us with 2 albums, a handful of EPs and a couple of freebies, including a demo of a yet unreleased song called Härifrån . Well… it was fun while it lasted! http://www.thermostatic.se [...]

Don't forget to order your copy of the brilliant Sleep Mountain by those Danes The Kissaway Trail . Check Bella Union for details. And here's the video for one of the best songs this year: http://www.thekissawaytrail.co m/ The Kissaway Trail - SDP (MP3)

so yes, I did make it back from Copenhagen Popfest . But what a weekend that was! Switching to the train instead of the plane for getting to Copenhagen was the easiest thing, as we soon learned. Although the train itself was pack-jammed from Hamburg to Copenhagen (we spent the 6 hours either sitting in the children's compartment or on the floor...), we arrived with only one hour delay. But then the whole volcano misery started to unfold, and it became pretty clear that we wouldn't fly back home on Sunday. [...]

What a day! The plan was to board a plane tomorrow morning, a nice and easy 1 1/2 hour flight to Copenhagen, but then... Iceland's nature decided to mess up air traffic in Northern Europe for a bit! So after some hours of phone calls, rearrangements and quick decisions, I will now board a train in about 3 hours and will then spend the next 17 hours travelling through Germany to reach Copenhagen tomorrow afternoon. The flight back to Switzerland on Sunday evening is still on time, but who knows... maybe I will spend Sunday night and most of Monday [...]

...when the mailbox gets too cluttered. I have absolutely no clue anymore who sent me this song initially, but it kind of stuck with me over the past few weeks. Web research led me to the official homepage, but other than four names ( Mark, Lee, CJ & Jon ), I couldn't get much more out of there. Just that they apparently create their songs using a three-guitar-setup, and that probably explains the wall-of-sound you'll hear on Well Wished . They have an album out called Film Noir , and [...]

...I'm crawling my way to all the new stuff that has been flooding in over the past weeks. First of all, there were some announcements of new albums to look forward to: Delays : Star Tiger, Star Ariel will be out on June 7th. Album opener Find A Home (New Forest Shaker) is yours for free if you give the guys your e-mail. Visit the official homepage for details. [...]

Just a quick one to let you know I'm back from yet another wonderful holiday break. Once again, I encountered many fascinating creatures, and once I've sorted all the pics, I will post some of the best ones here. Musically, it was rather bleak... I didn't listen to as much as I intended to. It's quite nice to enjoy some peace and quiet from time to time, just relaxing and listening to the sound of music. Most of the songs I've heard were only playing in my mind, and this here was one that constantly kept coming around: [...]

... as my annual 3-week-diving-holiday is coming up. As of tomorrow, I'll leave the blogosphere and full mailboxes behind in exchange for some long-awaited warmth, sunshine and of course - hopefully - a whole bunch of fascinating underwater-critters. I'll return with the Easter Bunny, and I do hope some of you will still be here, even if it has been awfully quiet around the blog lately. Who knows, maybe I'll also return with fully loaded batteries and a lot of fresh enthusiasm to keep this baby going... keep your fingers crossed!!! Stay tuned, and enjoy music! [...]
