I went to a friend's place on Saturday for a party. We ended the night watching a DVD transfer of old stuff they had videotaped in the 80's, mostly music videos. Here are a couple of highlights: Hard, loud and fast!

I have always considered Michelle Phillips the ultimate hippie goddess. I loved her look from the days of the Mamas and the Papas, and apparently she's kept her marijuana-loving 60's values . I thought about Michelle this morning as I listened to my favorite song by The Brian Jonestown Massacre, which is drenched in patchouli: If Love Is The Drug, Then I Want to O.D. Even the BJM boys themselves have been mistaken for female hippies. Strange.

Oh Christ. I lost count of how many drinks I had last night. Mrs. West invented a new cocktail called the Pink Pussycat. It's basically a Cape Cod with a splash (or more) of Limoncello lemon liqueur. It's a delicious drink for the end of summer. But now I'm paying the price. When will I ever learn? The worst part is that I wake up early, hungry and hyper/spaced-out. Ah well. At least
