Blog: Top Fiver

Its over

So this is my last night in new york and I am sitting at Beau's place and blogging. So lame. John Raux is out at rock show right now. Sunday I just chilled I was almost too tired to do anything else. Monday we took the train into NYC found this amazing little coffee shop and got a muffin. Then Anna Jane was amazing enough to fix us breakfast. And then we had an adventure in Dumbo. Which stands for Down Under Brooklyn and Manhattan Overpass. It is one of my favorite places I [...]

New York, New York

So new york is pretty awesome. I could totally see myself here. It would be kind of tough though. Friday we just got in with a few problems but nothing to really write home about. We ate dinner on the roof of this itailian place in Brooklyn. It was a beautiful night. Then on Saturday we went to Williamsburg. We ended up walking a good four or five miles from Williamsburg to the Dumbo. The show was amazing. It was sold out and I love the new cheyenne songs. They are pretty fantastic. There is some new [...]

NYC here I come

I am going to be in NYC. Hopefully I will be able to update and make some lists. So I will either have tons of posting to do when I get back or I will do a ton of posting while I am there. Either way you will hear all about it for sure. Take care and see you again soon KC And if you happen to see this and you are in New York come to this.

Jason Collett, Flaming Lips, Inside Man, Godfather Part 2, Lucky Number Slevin

1. Jason Collett- Idols of Exile (Stream the entire record here) I actually got this record awhile back and had been meaning to do a feature on it. But last evening(this has now been weeks ago) I ventured out to the Record Bar to see Jason Collett. It was a really great show. I had been excited for it even before I had heard his record. Jason is one of the members of Broken Social Scene. If you remember back to my top 25 records for last year that one [...]

Stephen Colbert’s Tribute to Bush

Whether you are a fan of Bush or a fan of Colbert you really need to see this. Stephen Colbert was asked to speak at a recent white house dinner. I love that he is within arms length of the president. Well luckily someone was nice enough to put it on Youtube. Here are parts 1 , 2 , 3 . My Favorite quote from it was: "Oh, they're just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic." First of all, that is a terrible metaphor. This administration is not sinking. This administration is soaring. [...]

The Cinematic Underground

I need a huge favor from everyone. I heard this great band The Cinematic Underground (myspace) online a few months ago. Well I saw they were coming to Warrensburg for a show and I thought hmmm I want to see this band because they sound intriguing. So I emailed them and helped get them a show in KC at the Brick which happens to be Tuesday. Now I really need people to come to see them with me. I think they are going to be extremely cool and it would be nice to see [...]

Gnarls Barkley

Good ole you tube. I found this amazing video of Gnarls Barkley(which is Cee Lo Green and Danger Mouse) preforming their hit song Crazy on Britian's Top of the Pops show. The set up and outfits for the show is amazing. I think this song could be my jam for the summer. Gnarls Barkley- Crazy

Tapes N’ Tapes, Band of Horses, The Godfather, Viewtunes, The End of Arrested Development

I am having a tough time as of late to do a blog a week. Life is just really busy of late and I don't really it slowing down anytime soon. 1. Tapes N' Tapes- The Loop Mp3- Omaha The only reason I heard Tapes N' Tapes is because of Pitchfork and some music blogs. Be on the watch out for them to be one of the great breakout bands of 2006. This record takes me back to when indie rock was sloppy and catchy. It reminds of [...]

Every Gentle Air

I just put up an e-card for the newest Record Machine release Every Gentle Air- Part 2. You can listen to the entire record here. It will be available in April in The Record Machine store. Please go check it out.

Heat Vision and Jack

I just found a really random tv show pilot called Heat Vision and Jack, It is from 1999 and it starts Jack Black and Owen Wilson is the voice of a motorcycle. It is little on the silly side but it is also funny to see big well name actors in rolls like this. Anyways watch it on YouTube

Colour Revolt, Anathallo, Babble, V for Vendetta, Tourney time

Colour Revolt, Anathallo, Babble, V for Vendetta, Tourney time 1.The Colour Revolt- s/t ep Myspace - (You can download a song from their myspace) This band is great. The last few years has seen so many great bands come out of nowhere and Colour Revolt is one of those bands. My complaint is that this is an ep and not a full length. But this ep is as strong if not stronger then a lot of full lengths. These songs are not just b-side material. I look for really good things to come out of this band in the future. [...]

nartan posted a photo: This is a old fashioned tv that was turned into a home for various scary cat figurines. Sorry for the low quality of the pic.

Top Fiver Podcast, Songbird, Weeds, The M’s, Metal Hearts

Top Fiver Podcast, Songbird, Weeds, The M’s, Metal Hearts Sorry for the delay on Top Fives lately. Everything but music seems to be in a slump. I could probably have 5 records a week as of late. And I don't see that slowing down. But thats how and why you weed stuff out. 1. Top Fiver Podcast As promised I got the Top Fiver Podcast up and going. If you would like to get the mp3 links that post every week delivered to your feed reader or itunes just subscribe to feed which you can find here . You can also [...]
