I recently received the best news of my life from the most unlikely source - a friend of mine's father, whom I never in my wildest thoughts think I'd ever met, let alone receive the most life changing news from. This paper uses an economic analysis on efficiency and aggragated inconvenience to conclude that men should just leave it in current resting position of their last use. In fact, it is not obvious why there should be a presumption that men are expected to leave the toilet seat down after use.
