Today is Super Tuesday. And for all you idiots who ran around wearing your Superhero costumes...you've got the wrong day. What I don't understand about today's election is the shame that comes with voting for some people. I know a lot of friends who voted for Hilary but just won't admit it. Why? The race between Obama and Hilary is a race between two very similar candidates. It's not like
Jack Johnson is headlining Coachella. I don't get it. I like Jack Johnson. Hell, during the 3rd quarter of the Super bowl, I could have used a nice dose of Jack Johnson to keep me from falling asleep. But does anyone who goes to Coachella like Jack Johnson? Even if you can find a handful...and a handful is pushing it...is it enough to constitute a headliner slot? Jack Johnson headlining
Why do we watch bad movies? You rent a bad movie thinking that there's something about it you like. Actress, Director, even just a cool title can tilt your decision to sacrifice a night in the favor of this cinematic entity. Getting sucked into watching a bad movie is one thing...but why do we keep watching? After 15-minutes, we pretty much know that the show is either good or a waste of our
Growing up in a small town teaches you one thing. God and country music go hand in hand. It's like hot dogs and fat people. Friday Night Football and Sunday morning church. Elvis Presley and underage girls. Certain things are tied at the hip and truly one hundred percent American. I was once at a high school party and someone was blasting the new Garth Brooks CD. Of course this was the
A few weeks ago, I Tivo'd the movie Guns of the Navarone. I just watched it this weekend. It's a great WW2 movie. One of those movies I always knew I should see but never actually made the effort to do so. But I've been burned before with movies. I can't tell you how many times I've rented a supposed classic only to be severly disappointed. So when you get the chance to watch something
A year when major musical careers were launched were all but lost on the music buying public of the day who were scooping up soundtracks for South Pacific and Gigi...completely ignoring the alternative music scene (jazz scene) that would be the backbone of all modern music. 1. Little Richard - Little Richard 2. Frank Sinatra - Come Fly With Me 3. Billie Holiday - Lady in Satin 4. The Everly
I went back and listened to some of the albums on this list as I was compiling it. Sadly, they were all on my computer and I only could listen to them on my computer speakers. Granted, I have a 5.1 system on my computer...but it still sounds like music from a computer...only louder. So I tried pulling out my CDs from their storage boxes and listening. It was better. The stereo opened up the
Further down the rabbit hole.... 1. Van Halen - Van Halen (Atomic Punk) 2. The Cars - The Cars (Moving In Stereo) 3. The Band - The Last Waltz (It Makes No Difference) 4. As we continue our journey back in time, the filter gets more interesting. Now we're looking at my high school years. Man, have my tastes changed.... Now: 1. Public Enemy - A Nation of Millions 6. Guns N
As we move away from 2007 and begin keeping track of the music being made in 2008 (I hear Sia is leading), it's fun to take a look back. Especially, now that music has progressed and changed, the years work as a filter changing opinions of albums from years past. First up, the 11 Best album of 1998. There are two lists. The first list is my opinion of the 11 Best albums of 1998 as made in
This was a big slugfest between the top bands (Modest Mouse, Wilco, Radiohead, Spoon, White Stripes, and Bright Eyes). The Number One band changed with every new vote. Modest Mouse comes out on top (the second time in 4 years) by a last minute ballet. Lots of really good music on this year's list. I've discovered some very quality albums all through-out the list, even at the very bottom.
Disc 2: 1. Superstar 2. She Who Is Militant 3. Mad Kow 4. The Victor 5. Hey Domingo 6. Misstep 7. Mo Beats 8. Lullaby 9. Organ Player 10. The Story Is Wrong 11. Sacrifice 12. Acapulco
I hope everyone had a great holiday season and a very Happy New Year. We've had an overwhelming response to the Best Album Survey this year. Monday will be the last day you can turn in your lists. Remember, for all of you who haven't voted...just send over a list of your favorite albums of 2007...in the comment section or via email. For everyone who has voted...thank you much! The results

At first listen, Rivers Cuomo's new solo disc might seem like a throwaway album to the casual listener but the truth of the matter is that the album is far more complex and intriguing than 90% of the albums that will come out this year. The new disc is a history of the Weezer sound as it changed and evolved through-out the years. Each song on the album is a snapshot of the creative mindset of
I was planning to post the Unreleased Weezer Double album that was scratched inbetween Green and Maladroit...but I ran out of time...maybe this weekend. BUT and ONLY IF...everyone votes in my countdown for their 20 best albums of 2007. Now you don't have to vote for 20...it can be only 10 or even 5...or shut...even just 1. I'll compile all the submissions, tally them up, and release a
What does Christmas have to do with Jesus? Santa Claus was invented by Coca-Cola. The Christmas tree was used by Pagans hundreds of years before Christ's birth. Caroling is a form of Pagan ritual used to ward off evil spirits. And to top it all off...Jesus was born in February. Therefore...we all should celebrate Christmas together for what it really stands for...capitalism. As promised...
You know what I hate...I hate all those Christmas cards that get sent out every year by your so-called friends. I mean seriously, what is this garbage? When did this become an acceptable form of holiday greeting? Here's my problems with them: Basically, people have these Holiday cards made with a cheesy picture of themselves on them and some generic greeting
I've been reading the lists of top songs for 2007 and I'll have to say...most of them are pretty lame. There are a lot of good songs on them...but most of the songs are obscure tracks that were never released to radio. Therefore I doubt many of them will ever be classic tracks remembered in ten years. Back in the 90s, he big tracks on the radio were also the tracks that were loved
