The Acacia Strain’s new album, The Dead Walk, will out June 13th. The guitars are lower. The lyrics are harsher. It will be as brutal as ever, if not more so. It’s being advertised as “The Heaviest Album of the Year. Period.†I guess you’ll just have to listen to Angry Mob Justice and see if they’re serious. (p.s. I made sure to find the most brutal picture I could to attach to the post)
Yes, I am in a chill and mellow mood. Of course the posts will reflect that. So if you want your hardcore, you might have to wait until I wake up a little bit. Until then, I feel like listening to some more poppy folk music, and that’s why I have some Jennifer O’Connor for you all. It’s fun, it’s catchy. Her album, Over The Mountain, Across The Valley And Back To The Stars, will be out on Matador Records August 22nd. Until then, enjoy Exeter, Rhode Island
Any PRP readers out there? Yea, well I noticed the first Learning Curve in a thousand years. And one of the bands is a definite winner. Baroness make that kind of smart metal, you know the kind where you don’t to feel like one of those “SLAYER!!!!†guys when you listen. That same good feeling Isis gives you. Not to mention some of the riffs are sweet(or they are so METAL!!). Anyway, enjoy Baroness, with this track, Red Sky .
Mellow, slightly folky indie rock. Simple acoustic guitars and soothing vocals. It’s The Impossible Shapes. If you’re tired of your regular hardcore listening, turn this on and chill out. Florida Silver Springs is featured on their lastest release, Tum, through Secretly Canadian Records. They put out a lot of good records.
I know every kid and their mom own an Underoath t-shirt from hot topic, and fold it neatly at night next to their Atreyu album and Pac Sun girl jeans, but you know what? I still like Underoath(more than I can say for Atreyu). That being said, I’m quite excited for the new album. The first track they posted “Salmarnirâ€, that weird ambient one in a foreign language, had me really excited. Well now they have a track that really sounds like Underoath, and it sounds good. Writing On The Walls is only available on their purevolume, [...]
In case you haven’t heard, The Dillinger Escape Plan will be releasing an EP, only available on iTunes, of four covers and one live song. Today they released the first of those covers on their myspace , Jesus Christ Pose by Soundgarden. It’s not available for download, so I decided that I would have to find the best Dillinger Escape Plan cover ever(not on the iTunes EP). Come To Daddy is a cover of the Aphex Twin song, and features Mike Patton on vocals. One of my favorite cover songs ever!
It’s edgy, it’s grungy, and it’s sad there’s no new music to speak of. Yes, We Invented Tornadoes have been dead for some time now, but that doesn’t mean the music must be dead. Their self-titled album came out on Learning Curve Records in the summer of ‘03. Average is the second track off that album.
Catfish Haven give us Bear-Vs-Shark-style raspy vocals over a mellowed indie background of slightly distorted guitars and steady drumbeats. The lyrics are simple and catchy. Please Come Back is title track of their newest album, out now on Secretly Canadien Records.
Push To Talk bring a Police-inspired indie pop that sounds fresh amongst the backdrop of so many peers. Their fun catchy style should have you tapping your toes, and will leave you relieved that they aren’t waste deep in trendy sob stories. Problems is on thier self titled Doghouse release, in stores now. Be sure to check out their myspace for more tracks, if you like what you hear.
I’ve been loving the constant stream of videos coming from Head Automatica, in promotion of their upcoming release Popaganda, and luckily they haven’t seemed to slow down. They just released one for the track Scandalous. You can find it in both Windows Media and Quicktime format. Be sure to pick up Popaganda when it hits stores June 6th. And because I found an mp3 of the track God I thought I should post that too. Enjoy.
Fall of Troy, easily one of the coolest three pieces out there, have posted a video for their track F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X . As far as I know, it’s only available on Launch, which sucks, but the video is cool, so check it out. Also, for your enjoyment, I have posted an mp3 of the track.
The Number 12 Looks Like You meet Isis in a dark german alley, for a fist fight to the death. The ensuing tones should sound something like McCarthy Blacklist. They mix ambient metal with multiple vocal layers and sporatic song structure. The Pattern of Nothing can be found on their 7†split with Engineer, out on Black Box Recordings.
It’s like all those things I like about Amanda Woodward, but in English. And a little more Number-12-Looks-Like-You-When- They-Go-Ambient (Alright, sorry, I know i just referenced them last post, but I can’t help but think it). But anyway you put it, Funeral Dinner have got me hooked, and I’m just glad to hear a band with a style I can really get into. Post hardcore just how I like it. Two Houses can be found on The Underdark, out on Alone Records.
Graf Orlock. They take the absurdity and brutality of grindcore and add in a few spots to stomp your feet and swing your arms to, because you can’t have blast beats all the time right? Their disc comes on sometime in June through Level-Plane records. Until then, tide yourself over with this track, 50 Year Storm .
New London Fire used to be known as Sleep Station, and have released a few great cds. They’ve always been a very interesting band. I saw them live about a year ago, and I’ve been a fan since. I decided to take the time to see what they’ve been up to lately. Their album “I Sing The Body Holographic†will be out sometime this spring on Eyeball Records. This track, Different , will be featured on the album, and was also released on an EP. New London Fire seem to going with a mucher fuller, more electronic [...]
It’s catchy, and it’s indie, and it’s alternative, and it’s rock, and it’s kinda arctic monkeys, and it’s kinda radiohead, and it’s a lot of fun. The King Left have a self titled EP available on their official site. $5 for 3 songs. I Have To Let You Win is the first song off of that EP.
Take The Cure, and add a pinch of Mewithoutyou and Sonic Youth. Guess what you got? That’s right, it’s The Picture. These kids from Brooklyn, New York, have a cd out now, Connect. This track featured, It’s Alright is the first song off of that album.
New Mexican Disater Squad. Sweet name. Sweet band. Out of Orlando, FL, this band delivers Minor Threat/Black Flag style hardcore punk. Their new album, Don’t Believe, is out on Jade Tree Records right now. Tightrope is the second track on that album.
If you couldn’t guess by the name, Guns Up! is a hardcore band out of the Boston scene. Break downs to dance to, that New York tough guy sound. They pull it off very well. Their album, Outlive, just came out on 1917 Records. You can find You Break on the record.
