Sometimes music and lyrics are the best way to convey a mood, a feeling. The music heightens whatever the songwriter is trying to pass on to the listener. These songs speak for themselves and have the universal message of that tricky emotion that's tangibility is always questioned. Call me a cynic, but truly an optimist. The first track where Bjork in the verses sings the same words but slightly different through each speaker and when the chorus hits, the lyrics are in unison through both speakers. Ha. The rest of the tracks ? They [...]

'Camo Clown' Painting by Ron English Hello. If you didn't get the first part Songs 1-12, you have a few more days (look above). This will probably be the last Radiohead post for quite awhile and you never know what could happen, so enjoy it while you can. Experience good music. Radiohead - Live @ The Greek Theatre, Berkeley, California June 23, 2006 Songs 13-23 Radiohead - Like Spinning Plates (Live @ Greek Theatre, Berkeley 6/23) [...]
I guess this must be Radiohead week. After this week, I'll have to focus my attention elsewhere, but for a temporary pause before Part II.......... here's 'True Love Waits' from Saturday's show at the Greek. The quality is so-so and I wish the recording would have been extended to include 'Everything In It's Right Place' which is what they went into afterwards, but it's still a haunting and unique version of the song. The next track is a Live version of 'Idioteque' from the 2003 Earl's Court gig. It's in response to this article which [...]

This weekend was dedicated to Radiohead. They played 2 incredible shows at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley. Many people were asking why we were going to both nights. Why? Well, if you've ever been to a Radiohead show, you would surely understand. The 2 nights were completely different in terms of mood and delivery. Friday night was understated from the band as well as from the audience. A certain radio station was complaining after the show that they played too many new songs (9) and it broke up the momentum of the show. [...]
I am looking forward to this exhibit, but damn what the hell was I doing last night. Gene's always at the right place at the right time. I guess he has to be in his line of work. One Little Indian Radiohead tonight at the Greek Theater in Berkeley....WooHoo.......
Photo courtesy of Rebecca Cook All of the music presented in this post is the soundtrack to a dream I once had that I was stuck in a greenhouse and that all of the plants communicated to me through music. If plants could talk, I think they would sound like the music presented here. Eerie and dreamy if you're floating in some altered reality. I think we walk around sometimes thinking that reality is set forth upon us, but maybe reality is what we deem in ourselves to be real. Are you catching my drift ? [...]

Photo Courtesy of iomarch June 10, 2006 I was going to put up the rest of the new songs from the Toronto show, but I just got this Montreal show which is probably the best sounding one I have so far from this tour. I found some nice goodies this week which I will be posting soon. Due to a better distribution deal, I was able to pick up Marc Leclair's (Akufen) musique pour 3 femmes enceintes. I got the new m-nus compilation min2MAX which is a banger and [...]
Photo courtesy of Cristina P from KB Hallen, Copenhagen Show June 5, 2006 I went to see my doctor yesterday for a routine check-up, to load up on some meds and to get some type of reassurance that my death bed is not close in the proximity of my life although it was only diagnosed through a check of my weight, my blood pressure and a 5 minute consultation with the actual doctor. My doctor asked about my overall health and the only advice to be given was to listen to Radiohead. She said it's [...]

Christmas Quasimoto photo provided by Stones Throw This first track is a great remix of the classic Fool's Gold. It still has that great funky swing without the 'Funky Drummer' sample/riff. I guess everyone is waiting in anticipation for their eventual reunion tour. Are reunions a good thing ? Does their Led Zepplinesque lackluster of a second album justify a return ? Who knows ? Yet, still one of the funkiest bands ever and one of the few to converge rock and dance. Grab your Chucks and glowsticks and do [...]

This past year has been great for turning people onto new music as well as myself being turned onto music that otherwise I would have missed. Also, with the hemmoraging of music on the internet we are now able to get concerts uploaded for everyone's listening pleasure and concerts from the past that people have been gracious enough to share. So, I do a shot-bump-hit-grind-shake-smok e to another year of real music.........Thanks !!! ??? Miles Davis - Blue In Green (Jazz) Stevie Wonder - Uptight (Everything's Alright) (Pop) [...]
Check out the new video from Headset featuring Beans for "Jaw Modulation" on ~scape . Wobbly, sharp, mechanically swirling through atmospheres of melody and punctually late rhythms......... Headset featuring Beans - Jaw Modulation

I found this creature a few days ago and I believe it is a cross between a raccoon and a rat. Strange. It's big and furry and could be mistaken for a big cat but the face is a hybrid of a rat and raccoon. What is this world coming to ? Well, I left work early today due to my stomach flu. I haven't felt pain this bad in quite a while. And now that I'm running a fever and writing this post is becoming a most difficult chore.....Here are some tracks [...]

I just found out that after 8 or 9 years of waiting Noah Baumbach's 1995 classic Kicking And Screaming will finally make it's DVD debut on August 22nd of this year. And the cherry on top for waiting so long is that it's a Criterion made release. Home of Rushmore, Sid&Nancy, Chasing Amy and Brazil to name a few. No, this isn't the Will Ferrell soccer movie from last year. It's one of my favorite movies and I experienced it at a time when like the characters, I had just graduated from college with no direction [...]

"Italian Tree" DangerDoom are back at it again with free downloads off of the Adult Swim site and here is a remix of one of the best tracks from the LP. Mike Doughty, the former member of Soul Coughing does an acoustic solo rendering of this SC classic from a live session from the KCRW studios. It might be from the always excellent Morning Becomes Eclectic series. Next up is a Boom Bip song featuring Buck 65 with a Aaron Funk Remix. Three unlikely people coming together. The final track is off of [...]

Ahhh, the long weekend is almost here. The wind is starting to creep back into it's nightly existence here in the Bay Area and with the sun shining, the rain a cracked memory, memorial day approaches. A sign, at least to me that the official summer season begins. Here are 5 songs to brighten, or dampen the mood of your summertime. I just picked up the GHits of Al Green even though I think I should have gotten he remastered Belle cd. I generally like getting the original stuff rather than the hits [...]
