this week, the richie hawtin show at mighty on june01 was announced and since it falls on the same day of the arcade fire show that i got tix for, i will have to wait for the next go-around from arcade fire unless there is a bit of energy left for the saturday show, but i highly doubt it. a slow year in terms of the number of shows, but with bjork in may and now hawtin, the season seems to be falling into place. also, with lcd ss playing next week, the possibility of the soulwax [...]

utah 2007 - taken by travis boyette @ solitude last wednesday and thursday, i had the chance to see tv on the radio perform @ the fillmore. everytime i get to see them, they get better and better. these set of shows topped the great shows at the independent last year. some highlights were the slow and heavy version of 'wash the day away', the hyperkinetic versions of 'wrong way' and 'satellite', a haunting version of 'province' and on the second night, oakland's subtle joining the band for a 'join-in-the-chant' like version of 'a [...]

ocean beach.san francisco.january 2007 i finally had the chance to see p.t. anderson's 'punch-drunk love' and it once again proves that he is an incredible director. i enjoyed 'boogie nights' and when 'magnolia ' was released in the theaters i fell asleep a few minutes into it and awoke at the scene when the frogs were falling from the sky. after finally watching it again at home along with his other movies, he has a way of making almost every scene look amazing. he frames everything to enhance the scene and by using jon [...]
