Deuces (Remix) - Chris Brown (Feat. Drake, T.I., Kanye West, Fabolous & Andre 3000)
My boy MPB hit me off to this remix of Chris Brown's "Deuces". Some of the best MCs express when it comes time to call it a day with a lady. {Where's the Rihanna cameo?} Of the same thread, a classic:

Happy Birthday Black Moses

Happy Birthday Black Moses Still sorely missed, I still remember the first time I heard The Theme For Shaft while watching Shaft (remember those Saturday afternoon blaxplotation or kung-fu movies) as a kid (that and the theme from The Car Wash ) and wondering what kind music that was. I loved the fullness of the funk/soul. Then to later discover that much of the hip-hop that I was listening to was built off of Isaac's masterpieces. Just click on Chef's pic for Evil Dee's tribute mix. One for old [...]

Time Out: Happy 4th Birthday!

Time Out: Happy 4th Birthday! Snoop Dogg - Can't Say Goodbye (Featuring Charlie Wilson) A lot done changed in the 4 years since we first started this ride. For 1, it seems like music blogs have come and gone , reinvented themselves, and straight jacked the game in process. GD was not immune from change, as we've gone from criminal minded to a video clip site, back again. It seems like the whole music blog scene has been on the decline and as such, we are going to take some time to reevaluate how to flip [...]

Friday Night Fix (OVERDOSE 2): Kibbles N' Bits

DJ Apollo brings another fix with this mix of break beats. Apollo, an early mentor to DJ Qbert & Mixmaster Mike (& a founding member of the Invisbl Skratch Piklz), keeps it fresh while spinning the classics as well, so good it'll make your dogs start pop lockin'. Just click on the pic.

Friday Night Fix (OVERDOSE 3): The Best Part (J-Live)

That's right, to get you over your work-filled comatose, like any good dealer we give you an extra dose. This time 2. J-Live has always been a GD favorite here, I don't know if he can graff or break like he can rhyme or spin, but anybody who is wicked at half of the elements deserves props over here. Some of the best, most fun, mixes we've heard in some time. Click the pics for your fix.

Friday Night Fix (OVERDOSE): Who Own's Culture???

Friday Night Fix (OVERDOSE): Who Own's Culture??? From the guys who inspired the likes of Cut Chemist and DJ Shadow, Double Dee & Steinski bring it hard with this mix. Now even though you may have heard the first half of this, a run through of their famous Lessons , from track 14 on, it will not disappoint. Just click on the pick and answer the question for yourself. Check in every hour for the next 3 if you want to OD.

The Breaks

The Breaks [I know that this is a couple of months late, but I totally forgot that I wrote this. We'll miss you Little Brother!] Why is it that almost all great hip-hop groups (Tribe, Fugees, Blackstar, N.W.A....even Dru Hill [I know, not great, not hip-hop]) break up? Ludacris finally expresses what I've been feeling all these year perfectly (well, at least in the last 2 verses) in... Parting is such sweet [...]

My Music Weighs 2 Pounds

My Music Weighs 2 Pounds My vinyl may weigh a ton, but all my music files, that's every song, album, in mp3, mp4, etc. formats over the years all fit on my new 1.5 terabite external hard drive that weighs 2 pounds. That's right, my entire music library uses only 27% of the space. This excludes most of my vinyl, but its still amazing. Truly the King Of All Media. Speaking of which I had to drop my subscription to the Howard Stern show!!! Cutting back sucks, but its a great thing that I can have my entire collection in one place now instead [...]
