Last night in Auckland, Pavement played their first show in 10 years. After the show, Spiral Stairs blogged about how 'seriously nervous' they all were in the lead up to it, and it must be a huge relief for them to get that first gig out of the way. Of course, Sydney is next with shows at Enmore Theatre later this week, of which I'll be attending on Thursday. To say I'm a wee bit excited, would be a gross understatement at this point in time. And why not. I never got around to [...]

Here's the new video for 'Bear' by The Antlers, off 20092s 'Hospice'. It's directed by Evan Davis and it is enchanting and mysterious as the song itself. Video after the jump. Bonus video link: 'Two', also off Hospice

What better way is there to resurrect this blog than to share news of a brand new spanking Broken Social Scene track? And it's kinda epic. It's been 5 years since the last proper BSS record (self-titled) and earlier in the month, Kevin Drew told p4k that the new album will be released this May. To be titled 'Forgiveness Rock Record' , the core 6 members of the ever-changing BSS brigade wrote and arranged the songs, while there are a cast of thousands that contributed to the [...]

A couple of rad videos landed at the gblk desk this week, and they are both too good not to share. Okkervil River's classic album 'Black Sheep Boy' will be available on vinyl for the very first time, 4 years after its original release. The 11 minute film that debuted at this year's LA Film Festival, and according to Jonze , meant for release on iTunes in September, has now emerged on various locations around the intertubes. In what can be described as Kanye's homage to the death of his own ego, it really takes a turn at around the 8 minute mark when all sorts of [...]

Sydney's iconic Hopetoun Hotel has shut its doors, with all future shows booked at the legendary venue cancelled indefinitely. A seemingly innocuous tweet by agent @ford_davis around 6pm last night led to cries of disapproval and abject anger from the local community who have enjoyed many a memorable gig at the Hoey over the years. Within minutes, a facebook group was set up to gather ideas on realistic ways people can help save the venue (at time of writing, the group has [...]

The twitterverse has been rife with rumours this morning, of the inclusion of David Bowie to the Big Day Out lineup in 2010. Groupie also pointed out this article on stuff.co.nz. All will be revealed tonight/early tomorrow morning where BDO are set to make it all official. [...]

Here's some amazing footage of Final Fantasy performing new-ish track 'Lewis Takes Off His Shirt' at the Hillside Festival on Guelph Lake Island, Ontario, a week or two ago. Halfway through the song, he is told to stop playing as the storm intensifies, with rain pelting down and lightning strikes being felt overhead. However, Owen has only one thing on his mind and for a brief moment, nothing else matters than playing out to the end of the song. I'm never gonna [...]
