I added an RSS/Google Reader/I don't know what reader to my sidebar. Does it work? I never use that stuff. Someone tell me, I'll be your best friend if you do. Guns N' Roses Don't Cry (Demo) I never thought I'd get a chance to post some rare and out-of-print GNR, mostly because I didn't think that there was any rare and out of print GNR. But hey, I love being proven wrong. This demo version of the classic "Don't Cry" is the B-side to to the 123 "Don't [...]
Okay, let's try this again. I wrote a thing for Nerve. You should read it. After you do that, come back here. I have music for you. And if you're visiting here for the first time because of Nerve, well then welcome! Want to listen to the soundtrack to Urgh!? If so, you might find this post of some interest. David Bowie When The Wind Blows (Extended Mix) When The Wind Blows (Instrumental) I [...]
I've been annoyed by something over the past few weeks, and I've continually debated with myself if it's something I wanted to bring up on this blog. But since I'm posting a video game soundtrack tonight, I figure that's enough of an excuse for me to go on a video game related rant of sorts. Fucking Mass Effect 3 . If you at all follow gaming news, you know what I'm going to talk about now. If not, a quick summary. Mass Effect 3 is a video game made by [...]
Hey, it's a post with a couple of bands from the 80s. I've never done that before! Pet Shop Boys Se A Vida É (That's the Way Life Is) (Mark Picchiotti's Deep And Dark Vocal) Se A Vida É (That's the Way Life Is) (Deep Dish Liquid Remix) To Step Aside (Ralphi's Disco Vox) To Step Aside (Hasbrouck Heights Mix) To Step Aside (Davidson Ospina Dub) [...]
Thought I'd take a break from arguing with game developers on Twitter and pounding my head against my desk trying to overcome a case of writer's block with some happy tunes. And I totally promise to have that guide to ripping vinyl up...sometime. I started that when I had almost no writing work going on and now I seem to have a ton. I'm not complaining about getting paid to write, but it does make this blog kind of a secondary concern. And I'm sure most of you would rather me ramble for a bit and post some [...]
I'm going to try to update more this week. I'm not covering anything for any magazines right now, I'm not traveling at the moment, and I'm done getting my heart ripped out and shit on by Mass Effect 3 (thanks so much for that ending, BioWare). So hopefully I can plow through my massive backlog of electronic singles that I pick up last week. In other news, I have a new(ish) post at my other blog, Random Record Reviews ! Read it. Leave a comment already! I like positive reinforcement. Also, do you want to [...]

Hope & Anchor is a pub in the Islington borough of London. In 1977, they held a series of concerts dubbed The Front Row Festival. Performances from those concerts were then culled to create a 2LP concert album that was a record for the ages. It's a crazy album with a wildly diverse set of artists, a line-up that shows a bygone era where an amazing assortment of diverse bands and genres co-existed in an open and free environment. Not only are a wide arrange of punk of and new wave artists featured on the album, but a good majority [...]

Next week I will have at least one super-awesome post! And the week after that I promise to have my damn guide to ripping vinyl complete! Right now I promise to offer some classic hip-hop with minimal editorial comment. Cypress Hill Insane In The Brain (Extended Version) When The Shit Goes Down (Extended Version) A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to interview B Real for a story on something I'd rather not mention here. It was a phone interview. [...]
I think I only really like one of the songs in tonight's post. But what can I say? I'm a man of the people. And I'm certain that some people out there really want songs, so I'm happy to oblige. Are there any people out there who want to oblige me? ...wait, that sounded dirty. Let me start over. I'm working on a few articles at the moment, and I'm looking for some people to interview. Do you like video games? Do you like vinyl? Do you like video game soundtracks on [...]
This site has not turned into an Underworld fan page, it's just what I had easily available at the moment. I'm sick, tired and it's been a long week. When I do get the energy to clean/play/record my recent finds I can assure you that I will have some amazing stuff that's not dance music. But there will also be a lot of dance music. So you might want to get used to that. Underworld Dirty Epic (Dirty Guitar Mix) Dirty Epic (Dirty Mix) [...]
I know I promised my guide to ripping vinyl this week, but I'm sorry to say that I lied. That's going to have to wait at least a week, if not two. Life is getting in the way, mostly in a good way, but definitely in a way that makes writing a 2,000+ how-to guide for fun kind of a low priority assignment. Speaking of things I've written that are approximately 2,000 words. If you are in a bookstore and see the latest copy of Goldmine (the one with Dennis DeYoung on the cover) and you want to read something [...]

I was in Youngstown, Toledo and Detroit over the weekend and now I am sick. I do not believe this is a coincidence. Endgames Love Cares (Extended Version) Love Cares (Single Edit) Ready Or Not Endgames is on the Live Letters LP I featured a couple weeks back . On that 1981 release, they area dissonant post-punk act with a decided Joy Division influence. In this single from 1983, they are a mainstream pop act with a decided dance bent. The [...]
Off to Ohio for the weekend. Need to fill my brain with great electronic music if I want to keep sane, or at the very least - gleefully insane. The Orb Aftermath (Bus Mix) From A Distance (Hybrid Mix) Once More... (Mark's Slide Mix) Little Fluffy Clouds (Danny Tenaglia's Detour Mix) The Orb's Adventures Beyond The Underworld turned 20 last year. Feel old, ravers? I have a lot of 123 singles by The [...]
Let's all dance to music made by a tiny bald man. Moby Extreme Ways (Lee Combs Remix) Extreme Ways (John Creamer + Stephane K Remix) In This World (T&F Vs. Moltosugo Club Mix) In This World (ATFC's Southern Fried Vocal) In My Heart (Ferry Corsten Remix) In My Heart (Sean Tyas Misses Twilo Mix) We Are All Made Of Stars (DJ Tiesto's Full Vocal Remix) [...]
The Official Lost Turntable Guide to Ripping Vinyl is coming! It might be a few weeks though, whenever I get going on it I find myself rambling for a bit before I focus. Look for it next week I hope. But you know what you can look for right now? My new blog! I've been doing this blog for about six years now (holy shit!) and while I'm going to keep doing it for as long as I can, I find its format rather limiting sometimes. Recently, I've become fascinated with bands so obscure that I [...]
I've been thinking of putting together a guide of some sorts showing how I record vinyl, would that be something any of you might be interested in? I'm trying to figure out what to focus on. Should I talk about hardware, like what cartridge and turntable to get, or is that bit kind of played out? I feel like people with far more technical know-how than I have covered that topic to death. What about something about how to get the most out of the vinyl you got; a guide to recording beat-up and worn down records? Would anyone [...]

People rarely talk of the Welsh music scene, but a lot of notable acts have come out of Wales, and not just Tom Jones. The Alarm, Hybrid, Attack! Attack!, and Manic Street Preachers are just a few of the amazing bands to emerge from Wales over the years. Bullet for My Valentine is also from Wales, but try not to hold that against the whole country. I'm sure if they would have known then they would have done something to stop them. Back in the 70s, when punk and new wave was exploding all over the [...]

Band'its At Ten O'clock is another 101 release that came out the same year as Live Letters . Unlike that album, this record is a collection of studio cuts and not live records. But it's equally, if not more so, impressive and well worth the listen today. The Scene All People Go Mad You like mod music? These guys sure did. This album came out in 1980, but this song sounds like it was ripped straight out of the late-60s. Great stuff, very [...]

I first posted this album eons ago, and it sounded like complete dogshit. In my ongoing effort to redeem myself for my ceramic needle USB-turntable early days, here it is again, re-recorded with decent equipment. Live Letters - Bands Featured Live at the 101 Club This is a very interesting record, and I wish I knew more about the people who made it. Apparently the 101 Club was a venue in South London in the early 80s, but I don't know for how [...]

A pair of oddities tonight. If you find this stuff boring, don't worry, I'll have some actual music sometime later this week. Data Age Mindscape This track was taken from a flexi-disc, produced by the video game company [...]
