Memphis is full of great music of all different genres, but right now a lot of folks in the know are hoping that there will soon be a spotlight on John Paul Keith and The One Four Fives. JPK is joined by three of Memphis' favorite musicians - drummer John Argroves and bassist Mark Stuart, also of the Secret Service and one of the most popular producers in town on guitar, Kevin Cubbins. JPK toured Europe this past summer with Harlan T. Bobo and Jack Yarber, and if they took him with them - you know he's quality! [...]

Goner Records has once again outdone itself in releasing this career-spanning anthology from Ross Johnson, formerly of the Panther Burns. Make it Stop! can best described as a collection of alcohol-fueled, mostly-improvised, highly funny rants, set to music that's, well, all over the damn place. . . in a really good way. And when Ross really gets to carrying on, there's no stopping him or the belly-laughs. Guests on the album include REM's Peter Buck, Alex Chilton, Jon Spencer, Jeffrey Evans, Ron Franklin and Lorette Velvette. Ross Johnson's Myspace [...]

"A Kung Fu clogging battle breaks out in the Chinese restaurant where touring stringband Uncle Earl has decided to stop for dinner. Sensing impending dance madness, the Uncle Earl "g'Earls" leap for their instruments and play a rousing tune (with original Chinese lyrics) to spur the action. When the fighting gets dirty, Uncle Earl intervenes. They show off their fancy triple-axle wagonwheels, and they unite the two warring tribes in a dance of joy and cooperation." - Jim Walsh (Uncle Earl's video release guru) [...]

Before hitting Hi-Tone's stage tonight, Cincinnati's own, Bad Veins played eight songs for a group of friendly fans in Studio A. You will be able to listen to this performance on Breakthru Radio on Dec. 10. They are involved in a really cool new venture with RCRDLBL.com (Record Label, sans the vowels). Check it HERE .

Alice in Chains, Velvet Revolver @ Snowden Grove, 10.09.07 Found this one in the archives and couldn't even remember what it was supposed to be a picture of for a few minutes. This is pretty much what we saw the whole time . . . I guess this explains why the tickets were being given away for free. What a weird, bad show. But the amphitheater seems like it'd be nice enough if real bands were playing. B.B. King @ B.B. King's, 11.08.07 [...]
