Betsy and Jon Heibler started the Sugar Stems in the fall of 2007 in Wisconsin with bassist Steph Swinney Conard and soon added Drew Fredrichsen on guitar. The band apparently issued a single and LP before releasing Can't Wait via Screaming Apple Records (Germany) and Dream On Records (Japan). Can't Wait is now seeing a North American release via Dirtnap Records. This is great energetic pop whose harmonies at times remind me of an excellent band of yesteryear, the Dance Hall Crashers. The melody and energy are infectious, a perfect jolt to stir up some positive [...]

Sweden's four-piece BEAT THE HEART recorded their new EP Glebe Market in a studio built at a loft of a barn in the Swedish countryside in early 2013, and have released their new endeavor over the course of the past week. They describe their music as a mix between alternative rock, folk and the dreamy sound of the 802s, which is a nice summation. We enjoyed the laid back feel of the song as it languidly but steadily builds throughout seven minutes of pop perfection. The band has been talking about recording this week and emerged [...]

Recently the upstate New York folktronica duo SWIMMING IN SPEAKERS inserted themselves into the landscape of new releases with the debut full length, "Guessing the Others", a conceptual LP requiring close to four years of planning, mixing and tracking to get just right. Taken from that release, today's dose is the free flowing track "All We Have", our featured choice out of the sixteen excellent songs on this new album. This song starts off with the sultry vox from self taught vocalist Meadow Elizabeth, punctuated by the steadily increasing electronic beats bubbling up from below via multi-instrumentalist [...]

Clap for Daylight is a 4-piece indie rock band from the Atlanta area. They have released the follow-up to their debut album Break Even , their Fire Escape EP, and today's Daily Dose is from it.
