This newest love/hate letter from Atlanta's Tiger! Tiger! features 15 new songs that capture the shifting moods of a waterfront tavern with floors of sawdust and broken teeth. "Cut Them Where They Bleed" (March 13th, Chicken Ranch Records) ups the ante of Brecht/Weill's "Threepenny Opera" to five bucks. Once again, Tiger! Tiger! has escaped from its jungle and into your zoo, dissolving the distinction of who is inside or outside of the cage. [via Fanatic] Download Cut Them Where They Bleed [...]

Due to a bout of ADD we recently misplaced our new favorite track by Seattle Washington's THE TORN ACLs, but last night its been rediscovered and placed in the pill cup for today's Dose. This is one of the first groups we know nothing about, and even hoofed it over to Timberlake's moneysink [_MySpace_] to gather up some info. We were skunked there as well, so lets just let the quality music speak for itself today. The Torn ACL's have a handful of great releases dating back to 2009 which you can grab [...]

Dandan started out in the spring of 2012, on initiative of singer, songwriter and guitarist Daniel Nilsson, who began to record an EP together with drummer Max Anderhell and bass player Patrik Engström. At the time when the EP was finished, Daniel wasn’t satisfied with the songs and abandoned them cold-heartedly to collect dust throughout the summer. After a couple of months, however, the band decided to give the songs a second chance by treating them with kid gloves and caring for them. They were carefully tucked in with cozy synthesizers to heal the wounds from broken hearts [...]

The name The Crackling refers to songwriter Kenton Loewen's favorite sound, the sound of burning. From gentle taps of smoking wood, to violent sparks [...]

La Crosse, WI trio Porcupine organically forges its singular brand of rock 'n' rock reminiscent of late-90s alternative without compromise. "We are kind of in the middle of nowhere – Midwest, small college town. To me, that works in our favor," lead vocalist/guitarist Casey Virock says. Unyielded by what's trendy, Virock with Dave Reinders (bass) and Brian Kerr (drums) continue to derive some of their inspiration from 702s classic rock and 602s British psychedelica, somehow resulting in a Swervedriver-meets-Queen of The Stone Age sound. Out on Hang Up and SP Records, "Witness to A Chase Scene" is [...]

Today we reach back a full year to the Feb 2012 album by Montreal's Plants and Animals - The End of That . The album sees the Canadian trio bridging the gap between their 2008 debut, Parc Avenue , and 2010’s darker La La Land . The band took a different, more relaxed approach with The End of That as opposed to their former sprawling, in-the-studio songwriting process; they decided to write and fully develop a large volume of material before setting the tape rolling and clock running. But whereas they spent [...]

Today's feature come off the new Nashville band, Great Peacock's self-titled debut EP ; out March 5, 2013 through This Is American Music . Instead of trying to live in a long-gone past, Great Peacock draws from the same inspirations that once fueled their now-extinct forebears (geography, aging, love/hate family relationships, blood, death, birds), channeling them into an unmistakably modern sound. For songwriters Nelson and Floyd, it’s natural, intuitive. “We know that even though there’s a history we’re connected to, we’re of our time,” Nelson says. “We know most records aren’t made on tape any more, but [...]
