Rock's saddest, most fucked-up ongoing story just became even more depressing. Back in 2009, Courtney Love lost legal guardianship of her daughter Frances Bean Cobain. And now the court documents behind that split have come to light. In them, Frances alleges that Courtney was responsible for the deaths of two of her pets, a dog and a cat, as the Belfast Telegraph reports . Now, Courtney didn't maliciously murder the animals or anything. But according to those documents, the dog died after swallowing some of Courtney's pills, and the cat died after "it got [...]

In memory of Yours Truly's late sister Lauren, L.A. space-pop artist Nite Jewel has recorded a spare, gorgeous cover of Stevie Wonder's classic ballad " Visions ." Stevie is not an easy man to cover well, but Ramona Gonzalez sings the song over nothing but a shivery electric piano, and the effect is haunting. Download the song below. Read More...
On the heels of Jack White's new album announcement as well as the unveiling of Blunderbuss 's first single " Love Interruption ," we thought it was time to revisit the hits - not the literal ones , unfortunately - of White's wide-reaching, strange and prolific career so far. So, here's 13 of Jack White's most memorable collaborations. Sorry Bobby D . For once, you didn't make the cut. 13. Insane Clown Posse and JEFF The Brotherhood w/ Jack White Definitely one of the higher-ranking moments in Jack White's "WTF?" register, White [...]
"Telling Ghosts" is the latest video from Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan's Puscifer project, and it focuses on the band's live show. But the clip is so dizzily edited that you're not sure what you're looking at half the time. One thing, however, is abundantly clear: Keenan wears the hell out of a cowboy hat. Tim Cadiente and Meats Meier direct. Watch it below. Read More...

Below you'll find our latest Rank & File of the biggest buzz in Stereogum's world from the past week. (Once again, better luck next time, 311.) In the video for "Materials," a new track from Chilean amniotic-techno prodigy Nicolas Jaar, an adorable little kid finds himself in a mysterious hallway full of creepy clowns and scarred up mutants and magical doorways. It's a messed-up dream-logic narrative that actually works because it seems like a dream some kid might have. Pondr directs, and Jaar himself has a cameo near the end. Watch it below. Read More...

Though much praise has fallen on the lap of Harlem-bred rap upstart ASAP Rocky, last night's show at Irving Plaza was his true coronation as the scene's torchbearer; not only did he keep the stage clear so he could maximize his own performance (he has had trouble with this in the past) plenty of special guests rolled through to pay homage. I did not go to this, because I'm a dumb idiot, and posting the footage is good penance, no? It looked so fun, and RapRadar 's Elliot Wilson won't stop tweeting about [...]

Name: Dan Deacon Progress Report: Baltimore's favorite experimentalist opens up about his new record … and also tells us a bunch of lies. Dan Deacon sure is wacky. And busy! In the time it took to read this sentence Dan Deacon will have recorded music for half a dozen projects, made some art , worked on a Wham City sitcom, and possibly have groomed his beard. Aside from a million other things, the Baltimore-based art popster is busy putting the finishing touches on a new full-length album - his first [...]
On his new album Exercises , the Montreal producer and remixer CFCF leans away from dance music, instead making a series of meditative instrumental pieces built around synth and piano. Following up the excellent first single " Marienbad " from Julia Holter's forthcoming Ekstasis is the glowing "In The Same Room." Like much of the electronic music made by her peers in the '10s, it's sticky and nostalgia-pining, though Holter's work is more fantastical and resonant. Check it out below. Read More...
Ascendant Mississippi rapper/producer Big K.R.I.T. released his excellent Return Of 4Eva mixtape last year, and he'll soon follow it up with another tape called 4Eva N A Day , which suggests that he may have finally succeeded in his quest to come up with the most annoying mixtape title of all time. The first track we've heard from it is the lush, expansive "Boobie Miles," named after the most memorable character from the Friday Night Lights movie. Read More...
Last Call With Carson Daly : It's still on! Who knew? Last night, the show featured the majestic British synth-rockers the Horrors. But instead of bringing the band in to play in front of a studio audience, Last Call did what it's been doing lately: It just aired footage of the band playing a couple of songs at one of their regular live shows. In this case, that show was at L.A.'s El Rey Theatre. Watch " I Can See Through You " and "Endless Blue" below. Read More...
The legendary baldheaded UK techno duo Orbital is about to release Wonky , the group's first album since 20042s Blue Album ; we've already posted the early track " Never ." And now, the duo has made the exceedingly smart decision to recruit Zola Jesus to wail operatically on their track "New France," which serves as further justification for my theory that Zola Jesus should sing on every song ever. The track sounds great, and you can stream it over at Pitchfork . Wonky is out 4/3.

Extra Life is a New York Band To Watch whose frontman, Charlie Looker, is an elementary school teacher with connections to Dirty Projectors, ZS, Mick Barr, Glenn Branca, and all sorts of other experimental-music heavyweights. They'll soon release Dream Seeds , their third album, and it's a fucked-up art-rock record that explores themes of dreams and children - territory that Looker seems uniquely qualified to map out. Below, download the dark, heavy album track "Righteous Seed." Extra Life - "Righteous Seed" Dream Seeds is out 4/10 [...]
Witch house purveyors oOoOO return this spring with a new EP, Our Loving Is Killing , for Tri Angle Records. The song we have today is a wispy, ominous track with a stuttering backbeat, Butterclock's vocals adding another layer of still, hazy incantations. Download "NoWayBack" after the jump. Read More...
From the vibrant enclave of Burlington, VT comes an artist one of you called the North Country's "best kept secret." Verily, after spending the last week with Ryan Power's latest release I Don't Want To Die , and seeing the reaction it gets from heard-it-all friends, it really is pretty weird that more people aren't aware of what he's doing. So let's help change that, because this is music with a fairly prodigious talent at play. The style's impossible to peg with a catch-all genre tag, so let's start with "exploratory-pop," and get you started [...]
