Dull Flame Of Desire by Björk
The Dull Flame of Desire, featuring Antony Heggarty, is out as a single on September 22nd. The video concept for 'Dull Flame' is as unique. Björk and Antony performed against green screen in New York then each director was sent the raw footage to edit and create their piece. Pint Shot Riot single announced

Pint Shot Riot - Start Digging
Life In The Big City Records is set to release the third single by PINT SHOT RIOT on 27th October The blurb tells us that: "'Holes' is about trying to put a smile on someone's face in a tired relationship by offering optimism and adventure. It is filled with catchy guitar hooks and a chorus which will have you singing the days away. The song was produced by Joe McGill (The Fratellis, Sergeant). The second song on the CD 'Ain't No Fun' shows the acoustic side of the band, no doubt one day there will be a full [...]

Johnny Flynn 'Brown Trout Blues', out today

Johnny Flynn 'Brown Trout Blues', out today Well, it's the end of another crap British summer and this is a suitably autumnal lament. It's a bit of Bonnie Prince esque soul searching: the verses are reflective while the chorus kicks the boot in a little bit with a bit of bloody brass! The vivid storytelling of his previous singles remains, but this time talking a walk on the downtempo side. It's melodic melancholy and magic! (With a much better grasp of wordplay than that last sentence!)

Johnny Flynn-single and tour dates

Johnny Flynn will release 'Brown Trout Blues' the next single from his 'A Larum' album on Sept 1st. He's also back out on the road throughout October, I recommend you get yourself along to one of the following jaunts. Video for Jeremy Warmsley's Losing My Cool

'Lose My Cool' Jeremy Warmsley
Jeremy Warmsley releases his new single, Losing My Cool next week on Transgressive. Here is the video-neat!

Singles out this week

Singles out this week Late Of The Pier- Heart Beat Zarcorp /Parlophone records 04.08.08 I'm not totally sold on Late of the Pier; at least I haven't been up until now. Heartbeat, however might well be the mind-changer. The lyrical daftness of 'Pinapples pieces in brine, messing around in your mind' does raise a smile, and the chorus is a blast of electronic pop joy. With nods to post-punk, 80s rock and more contemporary influences it's hard to pin down exactly what they are. Which is perhaps what makes this a great record, one to enjoy in the giddy visceral way [...]

We Are Scientists, Converse Summer Series, Somerset House, London 15.7.08

We Are Scientists, Converse Summer Series, Somerset House, London 15.7.08 Image courtesy of Carys Toms It's balmy summer's eve (summer, remember that? You don't need a jacket and the longer daylight hours give a license to stay out late, even on a school night!) and KV is back in one of our favourite venues, Somerset House. There is always a great sense of occasion at these events, and tonight isn't an exception. Despite not being quite sold out, We Are Scientists are on form. They are, in essence, a great guitar pop band: fast riffs, great hooks [...]

Kid Vinyl meets Johnny Flynn

Kid Vinyl meets Johnny Flynn Last summer your humble scribe met up with Mr Flynn and two of his band mates. This time, I caught up with him in a rather nice East End drinking establishment. We met ahead of a performance at the Hox-to Dot festival to talk about his debut album 'A Larum' and what life has been like over the past year. KV: Your album has been pretty well received in the press, are you pleased to be finally getting it out there? Johnny: Yeah, it feels only right, we've lived with it [...]

Singles out now!

Singles out now! Sergeant 'K-OK', Mercury records-Out Now Sergeant are an indie-pop combo from Glenrothes. 'K-Ok' is a catchy nugget of indie-pop. It sounds a lot like the La's or even The Coral. If the weather wasn't so 'driech' [grey, rainy, crap] as they say in Scots-land, it would be a good accompaniment to festivals and pear cider in the sun! It's perhaps a little too retro; but it's upbeat and has a great sing-a-long chorus. I'm a sucker for a good harmony too: so this is [...]
