For The Love Of God…Please!!!

Late night, posts at 4 in the AM, people? Thank heavens I'm off till Tuesday! According to a handful of sources and insider blogs, Apple has called a special event for September 12th , and with the leak today of iTunes Movie Store coming sometime in September, could this FINALLY be the launch of the new video iPod?! Speculation and rumors have been flying around for months (years?) now about the 6th gen iPod, and every "special event" seems to be a bigger disappointment than the next. Will this [...]

The Appleseed Cast & The VMAs

So let me first apologize that 'm posting YET AGAIN on The Appleseed Cast ...you guys are all probably sick to death of hearing (reading) my musings on them, but let me tell you something...FU! Ha! But seriously, this is the last one I'll make for a while. Anyways, I was on the subway on my way to work this morning and for some reason decided to listen to Low Level Owl, Vol. 1 , which I hadn't listened to in a LONG time, and man that record was SO ahead of [...]

P:ano = Beaut:ful

So P:ano is another band out of Vancouver that actually has been putting out records for a little while, but I'm apparently new to the party. I just picked up their first record, When It's Dark And It's Summer , and it's a freakin' masterpiece!!! It sounds so completely relevant and timely (and even fresh!) in todays landscape of indie and folk, it's hard to believe that it was released (way back?) in 2002. It's all just a pleasent mix of neofolk handclaps, glocks and wacky backing voals mixed with ubersmooth vocals by frontman Nick Krgovich. Splendid. [...]

Bad Week To Start?

So maybe, just maybe, this was a bad week to start the 'ole blog back up. My week looks MAD busy, with the Complex VMA party tonight, Atlantic City this weekend and design starting on the new issue of DIW on Thursday...it's pretty insane how busy and hectic life can get up here. Weeks and months just seem to fly by. I'll try to be as up on things as possible. Just warning ya...k, sorry, enough with the editorializing. M. Ward - To Go Home - mp3 [...]

Renaissance - How has nobody been talking about this movie?! CRAZY looking state of the art animation, a storyline worthy of PKD and a killer cast??? I don''t know bout you, but I know where I'LL be on September 22... "Free" Music? - Universal Music is giving away their entire catalog away free, but I don't buy it (get it?!). Anyone in bed with Windows Media is hiding something, if you ask me. Wherever there are strings, there's a puppetmaster. [...]

Half Nelson

So I went to see Half Nelson last night with Joelle at Angelika, and OMG(!) what an amazingly moving piece of cinema! I'm always drawn to movies that paint characters as flawed, broken people that don't have their shit together and this one was no exception. And that's not to say this movie is a stick in the mud, it isn't at ALL. it actually has a lot of heart and you'll find yourself laughing, crying and pondering the wonderfully portrayed relationship b/t the to lead characters... [...]
