I know I promised an update last week, and I'm really sorry that I didn't meet that commitment, but I've been having crazy days. Here are some additional topics that I need to add to the list [of things I can't forget to write about]: new friend, Borat , March of the Penguins , Shark Club, sangría , Scrabble, starvation, cleaning, laundry, freedom, "Veronica Mars," y Alerto's . Aside from playing the Wii with my friends, I had a pretty shitty weekend. Work hasn't been much better. Sorry for the lack of updates, I just haven't been in the mood. I have a bit to talk about however, so I will leave notes to myself for tomorrow's update: "Wind It Up," Wii, the Wire, Veggie Grill, alcohol, Down in the Valley , Minus Numbers, shark-jumping, y Español . “ Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossile to be silent .†- Victor Hugo I finally have the chance to recap my crazy week. I started working on this yesterday, but there was a giant power outage in Irvine and guess who hadn't saved in an hour... I've had quite a week, and a lot I'd like to share, so I guess I'll start at the beginning. When I left [...]
Another awesome show last night (Xiu Xiu, Dirty Projectors, Congs for Brums). This week is really kicking my ass and I'm getting like four hours or less of sleep a night. It's starting to catch up to me today, as I was at work for 13 hours and I feel like I could pass out at any second. I have a lot I want to update on, but don't have the mental capacity just yet. Wow... what a day. I'm far too exhausted to give a full update now, so allow me to make some notes so I can cover this tomorrow. Went to work (with a detour to Laguna Beach), voted (and was screwed again by the State of CA), attended the best show ever (maybe not the best ever, but it was up there... amazing). It might not sound like a lot, but it certainly is. I'm going to see if I can stay awake through Veronica Mars. Talk to you tomorrow. Tags [...]
“ Today was a good day: left my nigga's house paid; picked up a girl been tryin to fuck since the twelfth grade (it's ironic, I had the brew she had the chronic); the Lakers beat the Supersonics. I felt on the big fat fanny, pulled out the jammy, and killed the punanny .†- Ice Cube, "It Was a Good Day" Today was the day I wanted yesterday. Now, of course, I have to go to work in a few short hours. Oh well. Sorry for the lame update today. [...]

“ Tell me what you cherish most... Give me the pleasure of taking it away... †- Sephiroth, Final Fantasy: Advent Children I've been playing a lot of video games, as I alluded to in my previous post, but I figured I'd deliver an update on the rest of my mundane life. I also present you with my much-delayed review of The Prestige . Final Fantasy XII is awesome. It lives up to all [...]
I believe I mentioned something in my last entry about resuming regular blog updates. Well, I clearly had forgetten that I'd preordered Final Fantasy XII. I got a voicemail from GameStop telling me that I was invited to their FFXII party at 11pm in preparation for the midnight release of the game. I had to see what that entailed, so I drove down there around 11:40pm to check it out. Unfortunately, there really wasn't a party; basically, everyone was just lined up outside waiting for them to start selling the game. It was a pretty incredible line experience and I [...]

“ Sometimes, when I drive across the desert in the middle of the night, with no other cars around, I start imagining: What if there were no civilization out there? No cities, no factories, no people? And then I think: No people or factories? Then who made this car? And this highway? And I get so confused I have to stick my head out the window into the driving rain-unless there's lightning, because I could get struck on the head by a bolt .†- Jack Handy Well, the verdict came down in the [...]
I hate our court system. Everything they do is designed to screw the people of California. Whether it's strong-arming people into pleading guilty or making it extremely difficult to do as they ask of you. I woke up this morning at about 6am with the intention of going to Barstow to resolve a traffic ticket I got over the summer. Today was my due date in court and I took the day off of work so I could get it taken care of. As I'm about to leave the house at about 6:30am, I called the number on my ticket [...]
So, Pitchfork mentioned in passing that Pete Townsend, E (of the Eels), and Billy Corgan are all performing together at Hotel Cafe on November 7th. There's nothing about it on the Hotel Cafe site and eventually I found a link to the ticket sales. Suprisingly, it isn't sold out. Tickets are $50 a piece, which to me is an awesome deal (Pete Townsend? at the Hotel Cafe? Incredible!), so I bought two. Here's the link if you'd like to attend: Best Show Ever Tags [...]

“ Whereas some bands have the problems of losing their fan base due to things such as the band 'selling out' or the fans themselves just growing up, Xiu Xiu has the problem of losing fans to suicide .†- Chris Burden I apologize for the lack of updates over the last couple days. I'd been experiencing internet outages, server upgrades, 13-hour work days, and a general feeling of sleepiness. Today and tomorrow are my days off of work, so I'll try to get you all caught up with my extremely interesting life. [...]

“ Machines take me by surprise with great frequency .†- Alan Turing Matmos ... They never cease to amaze. Kyle summed this night up pretty well in his livejournal but I will give a recap, as well. After work, I met up with Kyle and my apartment and we departed for Los Angeles around 5:30pm. We made surprisingly good time (I assumed we'd be in traffic forever) and got to Echo Park about [...]
“ Of course the music is a great difficulty. You see, if one plays good music, people don't listen, and if one plays bad music people don't talk .†- Oscar Wilde Check it: On my radio show tomorrow (today) I have two pairs of Matmos tickets to give away. The show is Tuesday night in LA (Echo Park). Tune in Monday 10/16 from 4-5pm Pacific, if interested. AIM screenname is "KUCIminusnumbers" if you want to message me or call 949.UCI.KUCI. [...]
