I was Bobby at a William Elliott Whitmore show once...how pathetic is that? What was your worst Bobby moment?
New song from a Ninebullets fave, John Moreland .

I remember it so clearly, my first and only V-Roys show. It was Dec. 3, 1998, a Thursday, and myself and about nine or 10 other people showed up at Sluggo's, the only alternative bar to be found back then in Pensacola, FL, to hear the Knoxville, TN band perform. I had no idea what to expect. I had not yet heard a single song. I only knew that these guys played rave-up twang reminiscent of my favorite band, The Old 97s. By the third song, I was hooked. By the time Scott Miller [...]
The February installment of the Feel Bad For You Mixtape is up and streaming. The FBFY mixtape has entered a new segment of it's life moving from a message board tape curated by Ms. Rockstar Aimz , of My Aimz Is True , to a mixtape put together by a collection of (mostly) like minded bloggers. You can stream it below and head over to the official FBFY mixtape web site for some dialog on why each song was selected. Track Listing: 01. Shayfer James - Title: Weight [...]
It's been one heck of a week. Between traveling for work, traveling for family and a whole myriad of other things, I've barely been around a computer for the beginning of this week. I think things are gonna calm down as of today so let's recap some of the awesome that happened this week. Last night I got off my 2012 show snide by catching Lydia Loveless and Scott H. Biram over in Tampa and rushing across the bridge afterwards and catching Mr. Austin Lucas in St. Pete. Not bad for a [...]
I am gonna be out of pocket all day so this will have to suffice for today's ninebullets.net post. So, spend the afternoon reading some of the other blogs listed on the sidebar, go laugh at all the anger in the Van Halen review and listen to this stuff: Latest Ninebullets.net podcast Last week's episode of ninebullets radio (it was a really good one) Ninebullets.net January Spotify Playlist

On February 3, 1959, a plane crash near Clear Lake, Iowa, killed three American rock and roll pioneers: Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and J. P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson. The plane crash has been called the first and greatest tragedy rock and roll has ever suffered.

So. For the first time in 14 years as a band and 27 years as a band with David Lee Roth in it, Van Halen is releasing an album of all new material. When I first heard this news, I shrugged it off and went about my life confident I'd not think about Van Halen again until one of them does another stint in rehab. Then a funny thing happened. My twitter and facebook feeds started blowing up with folks talking about how good this new Van Halen album was. In the end, I couldn't resist giving it a listen [...]

Norway's hardest working rock'n'roll band is called ORBO & The Longshots. For years they have toured Norway extensively, all the while working to break onto the American music scene, playing several tours across the US. They are among the few bands in Norway who are able to make a living from playing honest rock'n'roll. "ORBO" are the initials of lead singer, guitarist and songwriter Ole Reinert Berg-Olsen, The Longshots are his band, consisting of Ine Tumyr on vocals & percussion, Reidar Opdal on vocals, piano/organ and acoustic guitar, Paul Inge Vikingstad on bass and Stian Tumyr [...]
Shooter Jennings released a video for "The Deed and The Dollar" the lead single off his upcoming album, Family Man , earlier this week. It's pretty much been camped out as the #1 video on CMT.com ever since. You can check it out here: Ahhh the protest song. Some are awesome, more are terrible and most are middling but that doesn't keep folks from writing new ones on a regular basis. Well, Patterson Hood of The Drive-By Truckers, Mike Mills of R.E.M. and some of [...]

Dear Sister is Raven Shields and Bri Salmena playing on vocal harmonies and guitars, joined by multi-instrumentalist Aaron Comeau from multi-cities Canada. Their debut album, Dear Sisters , was orginally recorded and released in early 2010, managing to catch a little fire at the time. Despite selling out multiple Canadian venues, life took over and the band seemingly lost its momentum. Well, it seems the band has refocused and decided to give it another go with repackaging and re-releasing Dear Sister here in 2012. I'll be honest, I had to put in a little work [...]

Last month I asked if you guys would be interested in a monthly Ninebullets Spotify playlist. You seemed pretty responsive to the idea so here is the first one. This playlist features every band that was featured on ninebullets in the month of January that was also on Spotify. I hope you enjoy it and if you do, pass it along to some friends. Like I keep saying, every new pair of ears these bands reach is a potential fan/head at show. This month's playlist features: Lauderdale, Ryan Adams, Jason Isbell, The Far West, Will Hoge, [...]

One of my New Year's Resolutions was that I'd parse through my entire "incoming" directory that that has been growing for the past few months and I'd get through it by the end of January. Low Cut Connie was one of the bands hanging out in said directory who I managed to come across this morning. The reviews on NPR and Rolling Stone show that they're in no need of any mention from ninebullets, but the album is just too much fun for me not to. Low Cut Connie was founded by a fella from New Jersey and [...]

Yesterday. Well, to put it simply, sucked a dirty asshole. My mountain bike got stolen out of my garage and I learned that my homeowner's insurance pays a maximum of 1000 dollars on a bike (less than 1/2 of what the bike was worth). Now, I am bikeless and looking at the replacement bike being a massive downgrade from what I had. Boo-fucking-hiss. All of that was made a little more tolerable this morning though when I got to work and saw that the new Otis Gibbs album, Harder Than Hammered Hell, is now available for [...]

Woot! Three months in a row! I think it's fair to say I've gotten my groove back with the ninebullets podcast. This month's show features the Ninebullets Radio/Ninebullets Podcast theme song written and performed by my buddy through music, Todd Ferrell. I'd love to know what y'all think of it. I think it has a solid Nashville Pussy feel to it and love it accordingly. The show also features the brand new Lucero track called "Sometimes" as well as new music from The Porter Draw , Greenland Is Melting [...]
Solid focus on it around the 1:40 mark.

They say music soothes the savage beast, but I'd beg to differ when it comes to one Col. J.D. Wilkes. And I'd venture a guess that anyone who's been to a Legendary Shackshakers show and seen him go from pre-show cordial, mild-mannered J.D. to snot launchin', pube tossin' J.D. once the music starts is likely to agree. So, what do you do when it's the music that feeds your inner beast? Go lo-fi, young man. Go lo-fi . The Dirt Daubers are Col. J.D. Wilkes, wife Jessica Wilkes and LSS bassist Mark Robinson. Their [...]
