Frank Sidebottom - Guess Who's Been on Match of the Day I was devestated by the news this week that Chris Sievey, the creator of one of the greatest ever musical performers - Frank Sidebottom - had died of cancer aged only 54. One of the first conversations I had with Alboy was discussing Frank's set at Reading Festival 1991 which I only saw part of I am ashamed to say, but it was wonderful. Brother Typewriter - Hushed Tones in The Recording Industry (edit) This is just a little thing I was working on last month with the Burning Lodge immersion composition group. I miss the old days of 1970s vinyl when you could get albums which had one track on each side, normally about 17 or 18 minutes long. So I did an album like that. "Hushed tones..." starts off a bit Floyd and then goes into something a bit like the 70s Tangerine Dream. [...]

Edcase - Untitled (Ed's Venture EP Side A) ...we haven't had any PURE RUFFNESS like this on here for absolutely aaaaaaaaages... From an obscure 1993 white label, this is a Darkside tune from those amazing few months that saw the evolution of hardcore into jungle proper, when no two tunes sounded the same and literally anything went. The tune kicks off with some crazy chopped breakbeats that gradually fall into an almost military-style 4/4 march and stomp right along until 1.38 when the MONSTER bass drops [...]
Alex Neri - The Wizard Here's some lush summery Italian House (see picture) from 1992, kicking off with a no-nonsense big club bassline the percussion creeps in with some nice cowbell and the tune progresses at quite a pace with large splashes of funky guitar, nice ambience, flutey bits and plenty of breakdowns and build ups. It's an absolute belter of a tune and no mistake. Alex Neri has been a player in the Italian house scene for years and produced the stone-cold classics Moving [...]
