Surprisingly, my favorite track of Snoop's album might not be Sexual Eruption (ok, it definitely is), but I also really like this track with Charlie Wilson. Uncle Charlie's definitely got one of the most beautiful voices out there, and its nice to hear him on his homie's emo track. Song reminds me a lot of Tupac. Snoop Dogg - Can't Say Goodbye (Featuring Charlie Wilson) I'm also surprised at how much I like this Mr. Vegas remix. I fucking hate all the shit I've heard from Kat Deluna, but [...]
The new Matmos album, Supreme Balloon is composed entirely of synthesizer sounds. It's a krafty affair, with an emphasis on vintage gear from the 1970s. Chew the cosmic bubblegum: Matmos - "Polychords" Drew Daniel also has a new book out about Throbbing Gristle's 20 Jazz Funk Greats LP.

Since time has officially ended, I can confidently declare that this is my all-time favorite song. Apparently Terry Riley invented the remix circa 1967, in the form of a 20-minute tape edit of an already immaculate soul jam: Harvey Averne - "You're No Good (Terry Riley edit)" Here's my theory: J-Dilla didn't really die, he just converted his studio into a time travel device not unlike Sun Ra's jazz-power spaceship. He is now working on "the other side of time" under false identities. I found this one at my [...]

Cronies Kieran Hebden and Steve Reid have both been busy since their collaborative album Tongues dropped last year. Hebden's conspicuous sampling of Conrad Schnitzler on Tongues made his allegiance to synth-krautrock quite clear, and his latest release as Four Tet reaffirms that link. The title track from the Ringer "mini-album" bears a curious resemblance to Manuel Göttsching records from the 1970s - coincidence? But Ringer is equal parts Motor City and motorik... sounds like Hebden wants his slice of [...]

I'm still kicking myself for missing the Excepter performance at MonkeyTown earlier this month. Lately I've been consoling myself by putting their recent output for the Paw Tracks label on heavy rotation. The Debt Dept. LP finds our favorite stalwarts of mutant electronics in top form... Kode 9 is unquestionably the man of the hour. Not only is his Hyperdub label responsible for some of the world's most adventurous dubplates, but his relentless remix work has the auterist calibre of producers like Carl Craig... and he's a damn good DJ to boot. On that note, the new Dabrye 12" on Spectral Sound is an intercontinental wet dream. As if new material from Tadd Mullinix weren't enough (cf. the new James T. Cotton LP ), the Get Dirty vinyl features remixes by Kode 9 and [...]

The new Shackleton/T++ 12" on Skull Disco is the latest confirmation of the label's status as a stolid purveyor of trans-dubstep Fourth World music. T++ had a pretty high standard to meet for this project, considering that the last remix of Shackleton released on Skull Disco was the Villalobos remix of "Blood on My Hands." While the original mix of Shackleton's percussive 4/4 workout uses acoustic drum samples to create a warm, tactile space, T++ converts the beats into a fragmentary computer language - space and time come unhinged, the extensive becomes [...]
