Rock Sellout Closes

Hello Everyone, I have been faced with some really promising opportunities that have come up that would help me reach what I have been really wanting to do for a while now. In order to do this, I would not be able to focus on the maintenance on the site as much and the other duties that follow. After long discussions about this between Erik and I, we have decided to pull the plug on the website. When Kip started the site he ran a tight ship around these parts [...]

R.I.P Vic Chesnutt 1964-2009

R.I.P Vic Chesnutt 1964-2009 Constellation Records reports that Vic Chesnutt has passed away. This is a terrible loss and I'm really heartbroken. I've long been a fan since a teenager and have loved his work with Thee Silver Mt. Zion on North Star Deserter . From They Shoot Music Don't They

The Living Kills

The Living Kills Got a 7" from The Living Kills on my doorstep yesterday. A four-piece band from Brooklyn playing spaced out 60's/70's psych rock that reminds me of some Yo La Tengo playing Velvet Underground. Good stuff.

Videophile: Seth Grave's Rock N Roll Will Never Die & Joe, Dean, and Charlene

Seth Graves is an old friend of mine and has been working in film for a while now. He has dropped two shorts in the last six months and both are very solid. The first is Rock N Roll Will Never Die, which is the begining to a feature that Seth is working on about a guys day after a year of sobriety and dealing with the zombie apocalypse. The second is Joe, Dean, and Charlene, which was done for the 48 hour film project. The impressive thing about both of these shorts is that he takes basically no [...]

Review: The Vicious Kind

Review: The Vicious Kind When I first saw the trailer for The Vicious Kind , I really didn't know what to expect. I felt like it was going to be a story about relationships with a dark comedy spin. The film reads through synopsis as direct rip off of " Dan In Real Life" but after watching the movie, if anyone make that connection has missed the point of the film entirely. Take a read for yourself : The relationship between two brothers, a father trying to connect with his sons and the young woman who gets between the [...]

Late Joe Strummer Christmas Card for Charity

Late Joe Strummer Christmas Card for Charity Tomorrow marks the date that 7 years ago music lost one of its most cherished performers. Joe Strummer, former The Clash and The Mescaleros frontman, was a man of many good deeds and talents and was taken away to soon. The charity Stummerville was set up to honor him and to create a foundation that could provide better access to all things musically for those that couldn't get it. This year the foundation is selling Strummers last hand painted Christmas card for charity and can be found and bought HERE . Beautiful card from a beautiful human [...]

Sole Brings you Nuclear Winter

Sole Brings you Nuclear Winter Rocksellout's favorite political rapper Sole has just released his first mix tape titled Nuclear Winter which includes some unlikely pairings. This release is going to be the first of what Sole says is the first of many coming out in the near future. On this release, Nuclear Winter , Sole takes some of todays most popular songs, Rick Ross's "Everyday I'm Hustling" and Jay Z's "Run this Town" and puts a little rework in them with Sole's own flavor. Below is the press quote that might do a little better in describing the record. [...]

Kick-Ass Hit Girl Red Band Trailer

Kick-Ass Hit Girl Red Band Trailer "Alright you cunts, I'm ready for you." We reported last week about the latest clip from the highly anticipated movie Kick-Ass, which featured Nick Cage as Big Daddy and his daughter Hit Girl played by the soon to be famous Chloe Moretz . Another word on Moretz is she will be playing the lead role as Abby in the American remake of Let the Right One In . Well here is the latest trailer featuring Moretz playing Hit Girl, and all I can say is that this movie is getting better and better as the days [...]

Introducing: Oberhofer

Introducing: Oberhofer I got a hand made demo a few weeks ago from a Mr. Oberhofer along with an email of some tracks. Right away I was drawn in by the sounds. All created in between a basement in Tacoma and an apartment in Brooklyn. Oberhofer's demo is filled to the brim with exciting material. It's a pretty amazing album that feels tribal and punk. Sounding like it was recorded in a jungle with people dancing around fires. With the vibe of an upbeat Devandra Banhart without the freak or folk. I'm already singing along and thinking about it when [...]

Railcars "Cathedral with no Eyes"

Railcars "Cathedral with no Eyes" I've admitted before I'm not a writer or a very good critic. All I know is what I like or not. Sometimes I feels as if I need no reason to like something besides the fact that it just clicks right away. Some albums don't hit me right at first and can easily be tossed aside because I wasn't moved on first listen. Some albums are not always instant but slowly grow on you until you realize your ears are full of shit. Railcars new EP "Cathedral with no Eyes" opens up like a sleepy [...]

The Murder City Devils to Perform in NYC and Philly

The Murder City Devils to Perform in NYC and Philly I always hate posted about this band because they keep tease me with shows and reunion dates, and not actually coming out and saying "we getting back together and making another record". This band was just hitting their prime when they decided to quit and the music world has been missing a small piece ever since. The two shows in NYC and Philly will mark their return to the east coast, but there is no special remarks on the show, just rock. In addition, they will also be playing a show in Seattle on the 30th of December [...]

With Bricks being one of the most anticipated records of the upcoming year, Leo is sure to bring everything he has on this tour. Railcars "Cathedral with No Eyes"

Railcars "Cathedral with No Eyes" Railcars reminds me of what it would sound like in a sleepy carnival. Opening with a fuzzy carousel trip that hints of bands like Parenthetical Girls or Xiu Xiu who's Jamie Stewart produced the EP "Cities vs Submarines". "Cathedral With No Eyes" appears to be a concept album about the life of "Edmund the Martyr, a 9th century king". I can understand that not everyone will enjoy this. I've heard this sound before coming from The Smell in LA and even from the Noise scene in Riverside. It's experimental of course with hidden gems and dancy [...]
