Tweet I'm taking a short break from my blogging-break to tell you about our two new EardrumsPop releases from Oláfachada (Ola from My Little Pony + Bernando Fachada from bFachada) and another new EP from Insect Guide. You can download both for free at http://www.eardrumspop.com/rel eases-2/singles/ I would also like to invite all of you who have heard some or all of our EardrumsPop singles to answer this little year-end survey of ours. We want you to [...]
Tweet We have two new free releases at EardrumsPop today. The first is by the Norwegian Kookooo Kitchen and the second is by Alison Eales (the keyboard-player in Butcher Boy). Get both from here: http://www.eardrumspop.com/rel eases-2/singles/ (they are both of course HIGHLY recommended!) Another thing I want to tell you is this: [...]

Tweet The excellent blog For Folk's Sake has made a wonderful Christmas album called "For Folk's Sake, it's Christmas" , and the profits go to charity (to the Integrated Cancer Centre at King's College London, which provides cancer care as well as being at the cutting egde of research). I've had a pre-listen to it before the release, and it's a REAL non-ironic Christmas album, with a lovely, warm feeling throughout the album. The album includes 12 brilliant folky songs, and it may [...]
Tweet In Japanese, but with lovely photos and great music! P + M magazine is a pdf magazine made by Masahiro Nomura of abcdefg*records in Japan, and although I can't say much about the written content (it's in Japanese), I can tell you that it's a great experience to click through the pages and listen to the accompanying music compilation. The photos are many and interesting, and the mp3-compilation is close to perfect. You can download everything for free [...]

Tweet There are several really good Christmas album and singles out there these days. I'm usually very traditional in my taste of Christmas songs, and the hip indie ones are usually listened to with a smile, and then easily forgotten. The songs on the releases I will mention here are good, both as SONGS and as Christmas songs. First, I will have to mention MJ Hibbett and the Validators . They released 2 (!) of my favourite albums in 2010, "Hibbett's Superstore" [...]

Tweet Low energy levels and too much good music coming in to my inbox are the reason for these posts. I hope you like them. They are my way of cleaning the inbox and telling you about some good music, the easiest way possible… Please comment if you find something you like here! First, I need to tell you about a couple free Christmas things that are really good: Wiaiwya has an amazing free album ready now, with Christmas [...]
Tweet What have been your favourite indiepop-releases in 2010? It has been an amazing year for indiepop, in my opinion. I started on a list for the blog, but it became so huge, and I really can't do any cutting in it. So, here's my far too long list of the indiepop-releases that has made 2010 a great pop-year for me. The releases are listed ALMOST alphabetically, and not by what I [...]

Tweet Today is the start of an amazing yearly event in Norway called Alternativ Julekalender (which means "Alternative advent calendar"). It's a project which collects new christmas songs from lots of Norwegian alternative bands, and gives away one song every day in December via their website , their facebookpage and their mailinglist. The songs are usually as amazing as the project is, and I have collected my favourites from the last two years of Alternativ Julekalender here. All these, and [...]

Tweet Listen to this! Horse Shoes have made an amazing remix of Champagne Riot's wonderful song "A friend of a friend". Champagne Riot - A Friend Of A Friend ( Horse Shoes Remix ) by horseshoesmusic ...and the original: A Friend Of A Friend by CHAMPAGNE RIOT Tweet

Tweet Underused Records and Hi54Lofi Records will release a folky gem in December, "Little Notes" , a collaboration between two of my favourites, Tiny Ruins and a Singer of Songs . Some of you may remember Hollie Fullbrook from Tiny Ruins' amazing vocals on EardrumsPop's compilation "Between Two Waves", where she participated as Pix & Hollie [...]

Good songs from this week's incoming emails (all links are from external band/label/promo-sites): Eux Autres – Queen Turner [...]

Tweet The Very Most have a new EP out these days, "Patricia". It features 4 wonderful popsongs, including the sweetest version of The Pixies' "Here Comes Your Man" you can ever think of. Both the title-track and their tribute to Jonathan Richman, named "Jonathan Richman" , are among the best I have heard from the band. Really, really good songs. The one minute long ukulele-track "Gleaming Gleam" is nice enough, but easier to forget than the other [...]

Tweet The Indonesian indiepop-band Sharesprings have a new single out these days on HeyHo! records . This is the band's first official single-release, although there have been several songs by them circulating around the internet earlier. The two songs, "Jasmine" and "I Love To See You (Daydreaming Me)", are some of the more focused songs I have heard from this band so far, and both are really strong pop-songs. Their sound is somewhere between the jangle pop of Sarah records, The Radio Dept., [...]
Tweet Wow, I love this song and video! It's the lead track "Chandeliers" from Summer Fiction 's new, free single, which is available for download on Bandcamp now. It features 2 really good songs + a demio version of "Chandeliers". My favourite is actually the second song on the single, the cool and laid-back "To come back new". Summer Fiction is the moniker of Bill Ricchini, and his full length album will be released on the 30th November. The video is made by artist Kevin Chia, known for his "The Sun Was [...]

Tweet DOWNLOAD: http://www.eardrumspop.com/201 0/11/20/epop009-baffin-island/ (We're told that the download-version sound MUCH better than the Soundcloud-stream, so you're hereby adviced to download instead of streaming). Two bands from two different parts of the world have joined forces to give you the next free single in our digital singles series at EardrumsPop. The Very Most from Boise, Idaho, USA, and The Hermit Crabs from Glasgow, Scotland, have collaborated via the internet to make this [...]

Tweet UK artist Ralegh Long will self-release his debut single "Shtick" officially on November 22, but you can already now get it for a "pay what you want"-price on Bandcamp. The EP is also available in physical format, but it's limited to 5 (FIVE!) copies, with exclusive artwork. To get the physical version, you have to make a bid on ebay (link on his bandcamp-page). It's the second track on the single that is my favourite. [...]

Tweet My energy-levels are generally low and there are too much good music coming in to my inbox to just leave it unblogged. These posts are my way of cleaning the inbox and telling you about some good music the easiest way possible... Please comment if you find something you like here! Good songs from this week's incoming emails (all links are from external band/label/promo-sites): La Sera – Never come around [...]

Tweet Anthony Rochester is an artist we have followed for several years, and we had one of his songs, "Special Payment Option", on our "A Good Crop" compilation a couple of years ago. The Australian artist has released two very good albums earlier, "Music for Librarians" and "Music for in the Spaceship", and now he has a new album available. It's called "Hot Hits '96" , and features 12 good songs, full of the warmth, wit and sense [...]

Tweet The Orchids are back again with a new album on the lovely label Pebble Records , "The Lost Star" (their fifth album, and their second since they reformed). I usually hate it when my favourite bands from the old days reform, - the result is usually crap, - but I absolutely love the reformed The Orchids. They have kept their old self, but have managed to develop their sound and songs in a good way. The new album [...]
