You know the drill. Here’s what I thought rocked in April of this new year we call 2013 (featuring songs by Still Life Still, YesYou, STRFKR, CHVRCHES and many more). This time, I only made the playlist on Rdio and Soundcloud (below). I might be done with Grooveshark, as I'm not really sure what they contribute to this site. I heard this song in the morning and it was more effective than caffeine in the hard task of getting me energised for an early start. Enjoy the new video for 'What's your Name?' by Halifax band COUSINS ! COUSINS : "WHAT'S YOUR NAME?" from Aaron Mangle on Vimeo .

"Fade" by Ryan Vail from the fade EP, released on Champion Sound Recordings on April 29th.

"Aurora", by London band A Grave With No Name . This is the debut single from Whirlpool , their upcoming album recorded in Hackney, which counts with the collaboration of Alanna McArdle (Ides), Akiko Matsuura (Comanechi) and Linda Jarvis (Echo Lake). Whirlpool is definitely something to keep an eye out for. The band already has a couple of shows lined up for July across the UK, so if you're around you'll have a chance to listen to their 'distinctive vein of haunted, freaked art rock, tracing delicate fissures in the emotional radiography of loss and longing [...]

It’s no wonder Tourism ’s song “Float Away” screams Brit-pop as half of the four-piece band originally grew up in the UK, and it’s surely no wonder that these boys moved and now live in Brisbane. They fuse together the cleanly tweaked lightness of Aussie sounds with a more grungier British melody.

Check out the video "Vacances de '873 from Montreal band Le Couleur from their EP Voyage Love. Creating a unique blend of disco pop combined with kitsch retro aesthetics, the band teamed up with French Horn Rebellion for the single and video. The EP will be released April 30 on Lisbon Lux.

"Endless Sun" by Sydney band The Money Go Round . The song is a 60s inspired psychedelic surf number, with a swampy yet melodic edge; for fans of the Kinks meets Kasabian.

Take a listen to Snowden 's new single, "So Red," from the album No One In Control. The album promises to be a remarkable collection, "lit with impassioned creativity and coruscating emotional power". The mind behind Snowden (Jordan Jeffares), spent six years, pushing himself and his music ever closer to madness, and that hermetic intensity can be heard in the record's every finely etched facet. Expect a "seamless integration of haunting melodies, rhythmic ingenuity, and hypnagogic songcraft".
"Pretty Boy" by Young Galaxy , from their fourth LP, Ultramarine ( Paper Bag Records).

"Time (feat. Sacred Animals)" by Irish band Young Wonder . A collaboration featuring Darragh from Sacred Animals , the video perfectly showcases the song- the intricate production of Ian Ring and ice queen vocal of Rachel Koeman complimented by beautiful, sprawling landscapes and the clever direction of Feel Good Lost.

The Very Best remix of "Compliment Your Soul" by Dan Croll that is. Have you heard it? My buddy Tej threw it into the mix last night before dinner, killer remix of a song you know I'm already a fan of .

The musicality and grit runs thickly through this particular family’s genes. Brothers Will, Tim and Ollie Walter from Bath, form The Family Rain. “Trust Me… I’m a Genius” has all the elements of raw-within-the-core rock and roll, developing from a short but solid piano intro that instantaneously grabs you by the shirt-collar and makes you pay attention. Think Cold War Kids, Libertines and Jack White.

A lot of the time when I make these posts about poster designers, I find its easiest to just paste what they've written about themselves on their hompages. F2 - Design Well, we’re not a world-wide, mega million dollar, corporate machine and that’s for sure! We’re just two simple people. Dirk and Carol Fowler. In fact, that’s how we got our name. Two Fowlers = f2. Clever, huh? We live and work in sunny Lubbock, Texas. We kind of like it here. It’s quiet. Once Carol [...]

Philadelphia dream-pop band A Sunny Day in Glasgow are currently mixing their new album. While we wait, bassist Ryan Newmyer has begun sharing tracks off his side project, Roman à clef. "PSBTV" is a playful twee-accented spin on his band's immersing sound. Delightfully affable in composition and lyrical content, this can be enjoyed by both fans of A Sunny Day in Glasgow and those who find their albums more difficult to process.
