More Shoegazing With Trespassers William

More Shoegazing With Trespassers William I recently posted about a new shoegazer band I'd been digging, Daylight's For The Birds. Well, I bring you another - Trespassers William. Much like DFTB, Trespassers William is lead by a female vocalist that produces the angelic, ethereal sound that I very much love. Their album, " Having ", clocking in at just under an hour, is a fantastic album that carries you away from the instant you turn it on. Alright, so before I delve into the music itself, I have to make a little statement about how awesome the cover art [...]

Shapes And Sizes w/Honeycut Rock Spaceland

I know this is a little overdue, but like I said, I was on a cruise (crappy internet for $0.50 a minute) all last week. So here you are. A couple weeks ago I saw Shapes And Sizes in concert, and opening for them was Honeycut . I'd briefly heard their music but wasn't sure what to expect as I went to the concert. As soon as they started playing, however, the first name that came to mind was Cold War Kids . Not because they sound like them, but [...]

Possible Hiatus

Mew - She Came Home For Christmas
It's Christmas time, and I'm off on a cruise to the Caribbean (I know you're jealous). I'm not sure what the internet situation is, but if there's decent access, then I have a few posts ready to go. If not, then I'll be seein' ya in a week. In case of the latter, Merry Christmas! Hope you have a great time whatever it is that you're doing. I'll leave you with a little something to enjoy! [...]

The Boy Least Likely To Rarities

The Boy Least Likely To Rarities Considering that The Boy Least Likely To just put up a Christmas song that came to my attention yesterday, I deemed it entirely necessary to post about them. And as I was thinking about what to post about, I happened upon some tracks that are not widely available in the US. TBLLT is by far my favorite indie pop band, and might I venture to say the best one out there? I think so, and maybe you do too. Even if you don't, you can't deny how great their music is. So here's a few rarities, including a remix, that [...]

Deerhoof Presents '+81'

Deerhoof Presents '+81' I previously made a post about the entire lineup of Asthmatic Kitty Records, and one of the bands that I mentioned on there were The Curtains . The frontman for that project is Chris Cohen, who was previously of a little band known as Deerhoof . Well, Cohen left the band, but Deerhoof has continued to proceed making the sweet music that they're known to produce. Well, they just released their first track off the new album, "Friend Opportunity" (+81 will first be released as an EP), and so here it is. Enjoy! [...]

Cele De Rocks It Celtic-Style

Cele De Rocks It Celtic-Style

Cele De Rocks It Celtic-Style I first heard about Cele De (kay-lee day) around February this year, when introduced to the guitarist, Robby Valderrama, via mutual friends. On St. Patrick's Day, I went and saw them at a local bar/restaurant, and dug their sound right from the get-go. Their music is very much influenced by celtic folk music, but it doesn't stay there. A part of me hates when a band cannot be easily classified into a genre (I'm a little obsessive about genres), but another part of me loves it because it means versatility on behalf [...]

We're On Our Way To Eskju Divine

Eskju Divine 'Hold on'
Piano rock/pop is always soothing to the ears because of the lush sounds the bands are able to create with the piano leading the way. Soundscapes are beautifully created in such bands, and there isn't one that has set the bar for this genre than Keane. Having rid themselves of all guitars, they've made some great music and it's been a great year having happened upon them. Well, I now bring you another set of similar pioneers who have been making their music for the past four years, and remind of Keane in more than one way: [...]

Top Albums For 2006

Here's the AM Music's favorite albums for the year: 10. Cold War Kids - Robbers & Cowards Had I not seen them in concert I might never have picked up their album. To be honest, I might not even have known about them. But I'm glad I did, because Robbers & Cowards became an instantaneous favorite the moment I heard it. 9. Copeland - Eat, Sleep, Repeat Copeland's had a couple good albums, but this one has by far put them over [...]

I'm From Barcelona

Well, I'm not from Barcelona, and actually, neither is the band I'm From Barcelona . They're from Jönköping, Sweden, and they've been getting a decent amount of press since they first released an EP earlier this year. What's one of the most talked about things about IFB other than the fact that they've been making great indie pop music? Well, they happen to be a group of 29 people. That's right, 29! The mastermind behind this project is Emanuel Lundgren. On vacation, he started writing some music and over [...]

Tobias Froberg Continues Searching Somewhere In The City

Tobias Froberg Continues Searching Somewhere In The City As of late, an artist that I just can't get enough of is Tobias Froberg. Rewriteable Content did a review on his album, "Somewhere In The City" a month or so ago, and when I heard the single, "On God's Highway", I was sold. But I didn't realize how good the album was going to be until I actually bought it. And since then, it's been playing on my computer/iPod nearly consistently. Yeah, it's that good. Froberg is a classics kinda guy. Paul Simon, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Carole King, Beach Boys, Neil Young, Nina Simone [...]

Spoken Word Brought To Life By Bradley Hathaway

Spoken Word Brought To Life By Bradley Hathaway I am totally new to the genre of spoken word. But from what I've seen of Bradley Hathaway, I am compelled to find more artists who are defining this genre like he is. So how did I hear about Bradley Hathaway? Remember ' Stop The Bleeding '? Well, Hathaway is one of the artists that graces the stage on the tour. There's a few more on there that totally deserve a writeup, but it'll all come in due time. As for now, our focus is this up and coming (he's [...]

Thee, Stranded Horse

Thee, Stranded Horse I love the fact that you can still happen across good music these days. There's so much mainstream crap that just clogs our ears that sometimes you just do miss genuinely good stuff. And I'm glad I didn't miss Yann Tambour's folk project, Thee, Stranded Horse . So who is Yann Tambour? He's a French solo artists that's head up a few solo projects in the recent years, and noteable among those has been Encre (entry due next week), an electronic/experimental project that I've been enjoying quite a bit since I got it. [...]
