One of the raddest EPs this year is Pat Lok's new No Shame joint with two original tracks. No Shame and Yes Game are featured with 4 remixes from the likes of Goldroom, Volta Bureau, Oh Yeah and Bit Funk. The Bit Funk remix of Yes Game is my favorite after 4 spins of the EP. I love this new video from M+A's Thing.yes debut album which just popped out last week. The young Italian duo make these nice electronic pop jams that remind me of my Japanese electronic binges in the early 2000s. After a few spins, I'm gonna say this is probably my favorite album of November thus far. It's super smooth and you can catch some toe tapping in there as well. I was watching a video for a new Japanese camera called CLAP on youtube and I stumbled upon a song I have never heard. Right away I looked up the lyrics and could not find it anywhere. I can't afford them boots but Palladium did just give us a really sweet documentary hosted by Pharrell who is evidently quite fond of Japan for it's stylo, art, culture, etc. Pretty cool perspectives of the spirit of Japan from artists and musicians. One of my new favorite songs is Take Time by LA artist Low Leaf. Makes her own beats, plays harp, synth/piano, and sings at the same time. Also after taking 5 minutes on her tumblr and twitter, I collect that she is on some spiritual, nature, and organic love on some galactic proportions. You guys hear this new Blu joint? NoYork! is Producer/Rapper/MC Blu's 3rd release. The sound comes at a perfect time for me when I'm neck deep in the LA beat scene. Flying Lotus and Sam I Yam are producin' some beats as well as Exile's usual touches. Many street hop folks won't get it; they'll listen out of respect. High Highs debut EP is a beautiful mixture of synth pop and subtle vocals layered on quite nice. The 4 track EP is out on November 22nd, perfect for the autumn season. I can't wait to hear a full length. It's several elements from bands I like coming together and adding a key element of lightness or airiness. If you love the EP as much as I do, be sure to pick it up later this month.
I dig this new EP from Italy's Deep Session Recs who are bangin' out some dope grooves and house hits this year. LAST KNIGHT ON EARTH, "The Girl From Mars EP" is out in a couple days and highly encourage the purchase. 58 Degrees is one of the sickest EPs I've heard in a while so when Tigran aka MiM0SA dropped his new Sanctuary album, I had to give is a concentrated spin; headphones bumping beats on a 2am bike ride through town. It's a thick helping of beats with genre's guesting all over. Check the track below and tell me all the influences you can hear in that track.
