The Grammys are this Sunday and if memory serves me right, the general sentiment is kind of "blah" compared to previous years. It use to be an honor to perform, but now you have artists declining (Bon Iver) the opportunity. Adele will win > 2 Grammys and the Beach Boys playing with Foster the People smells kind of desperate. Who knows, Katy Perry might actually go home with an award or Skrillex might be selected as Best New Artist? Kaskade // Deadmau5 - Move For Me (TABS Remix) [...]

This is the night before Valentine's Day, so no excuses. The lineup Monday night is solid from top to bottom and a true honor to present next week. There's one more that C=T will be doing later this month, so keep posted. Young Pharaohs is the new vehicle that has risen from the ashes of King Mob to create a steamy R&B synth vibe that will have your pelvis moving from side to side to the sound of the beat. Ava Luna is on tour with Twin Sister and both are [...]

There's been a lot of collabos that the Roots have been able to do, and this one came by chance. En route to soundcheck for his performance on SNL, Justin Vernon stopped by and sat in with the Roots to perform ?uestlove's " favorite jawn ," from the latest album from Bon Iver, "Perth." If I hadn't told you that "Dour Percentage" wasn't from Of Montreal, there's a good chance you would've thought it could've been a B side from Electric Light Orchestra. I'm a massive Jeff Lynne fan and the energy that Of Montreal's channeling on their latest album, "Paralytic Stalks," evokes those extended medleys not heard nowadays. Not to mention some of the compositions used like in "Wintered Debts." They'll be hitting the road in support of the album that will bring them to my old stomping grounds of El Paso and also be playing SX. [...]

The time is approaching for SXSW 2012 to rear it's crazy head and along comes the responsibility to make a list of acts that you'd like to catch. You could do what my friend Nick does and just show up at parties and hope that he catches something he might like. I consider myself to be spontaneous, however, I like knowing that my trip to Austin wasn't a complete waste of time. Husband and wife duo from Magic Wands , Chris and Dexy Valentine, have crafted "Aloha Moon," set to be released worldwide via Bright Antenna [...]

A western tour of the US is in store for fans of Explosions in the Sky The double Coachella weekend has spawned the jaunt and the good people of Colorado are benefactors with two shows on the docket. Check out the fan made video of a journey to catch the Texas band in the UK. This week's album streams come in the form of Frankie Rose's "Interstellar" and Air's "Le Voyage Dans La Lune." After a couple of spins of "Interstellar" (listen here ), I can say that the album has caught my attention of the young year unlike any other. The ebb and flow of the release is the perfect tempo that perfectly captures the true essence of the vocals from Miss Frankie Rose. You can pick up "Interstellar" on 2/21 on via Slumberland . Air has contributed the music [...]

Madge played her halftime show at the Indianapolis home that Peyton Manning built for this year's Super Bowl. The hype machine that has been working around the clock (see collabos with M.I.A. and Minaj) in support of the new release from the Material Girl to be titled, "MDNA," reached it's pinnacle last night with a medley of treasured hits from the iconic superstar. But it looks like M.I.A. single-handedly highjacked the halftime show last night with her gratuitous crotch shot and lewd gesture to America by flipping "us" the bird. Aside from that slight hiccup and [...]

The Super Bowl's status as the most elite sporting event in the US can only be rivaled by the marketing that's involved that have non-sports fans watching the pigskin classic. This year's game is a rematch that has two of the largest sports markets in the US with an even more interesting story line that has been brewing that involves the more popular and older sibling of the Giants QB, Peyton Manning and his ability to play or pass a physical. It's long been speculated that the Colts plan on dumping Manning, which is on the wrong [...]
Music, very much like the wheel, is hard to reinvent. Garge rock/punk acts are a dime a dozen. When you find an act that harnesses the best of what the 70/802s had to offer and churns out two minute minute gems that punch you in the gut, you have no other choice but to listen. The stench of sweat and smoke are present when listening to the latest album from Broncho titled, "Can't Get Past the Lips," hailing from Oklahoma. The best parts of Thin Lizzy, New York Dolls and the Dead Boys are cherry picked [...]

Gotye has been making music for almost ten years now and held himself to a saying that rings true in his situation, "persistence always beats resistance" Far more artists have gotten by on substantially less and why not Gotye? Sure his single is played on ten radio stations on the FM dial and turns out to be the biggest ear-worm I've listened to in a while. We're not talking about lightening in a bottle, the dude has paid his dues. Now he's selling out venues everywhere he goes and here in town, the venue was changed [...]

In what appears to be the week of the M83 time-lapse, "Midnight City," was used to soundtrack a time-lapse at Century Link Field in Seattle and "Outro" graced the surreal Yosemite National Park time-lapse. The video couldn't have come at a better time with the Super Bowl looming around the corner. Thanks to Bodega Studios! It would be an event out of this world if M83 were to have a gathering at Yosemite Park under the millions of stars up above. However, we'll have to settle for a time-lapse of the majestic [...]

"Humor Risk" is the latest album from brilliant artist, Cass McCombs, released last November. C=T wants to send one lucky reader and a guest to catch Mr. McCombs at Hi-Dive on Friday night and all you have to do is @ message me on Twitter @ Causeequalstime "Cass McCombs" or email me (julio dot enriquez at gmail dot com) and the tickets are yours. Nada Surf's latest video reminds us all of a simpler time . Like the most important part of your day was just getting ready for school and along the way maybe finding the girl of your dreams. No bills to pay and pure bliss. The guys also performed two cuts on Fallon last night, one of which comes from one of my all time favorite albums, "Let Go," and one off of the recently released, "The Stars Are Indifferent To Astronomy." Thanks to the Audio Perv for the video on "Waiting for Something." [...]
M & M & M has a nice ring to it after all. Madonna , M.I.A. and French DJ, Martin Solveig, have come together to put each other back on the map. After both released commercial flops in their last albums, M & M appear to be headed in the right direction after listening to a teaser off of the upcoming album from Madonna titled, "MDNA." This season's Austin City Limits is has hit a homerun with the talent that recorded sessions during the ACL Festival last year. This week brings an episode with Florence [...]

The inaugural Icelantic Winter on the Rocks went down in Red Rocks concert history as being the first winter concert ever held at the gorgeous amphitheater in Morrison. C=T contributor, El Güero, weathered the fierce elements Friday night and when I asked him if he thought there would be a second Winter on the Rocks, he knew that the gluttons for punishment in the crowd would be around to sell out any future shows at Red Rocks. Atmosphere - Rhythm of Rain [mp3] Common (ft. Nas) - Ghetto Dreams [...]

Tonight marks the first ever WINTER concert at Red Rocks. With that in mind, why wouldn't it snow. Last night Atmosphere opened up for Brother Ali at the Ogden and tonight he will be headlining the Icelantic Winter with Common and despite the fierce elements, the show is SOLD OUT! Bundle up and wear your snow boots, because the ramps are a tad slick. Tonight's event may have sent a precedent for future winter shows at Red Rocks and if you put on the show, people will come. Even after watch the new video from the War on Drugs for the single "Brothers," I feel like there's something new I missed the previous four times. Beware, there's duct tape, broken glass, hospice care and guns involved. Don't miss the War on Drugs on tour with Sharon Van Etten in what promises to be a great lineup. the War on Drugs-Snake Tongues [mp3] The War on Drugs - Brothers from Secretly Jag on Vimeo . [...]

"Milk Famous" is the name of the new album coming from White Rabbits via TBD Records March 6. All that hanging out with Britt Daniels has finally rubbed off because the new single, "Heavy Metal" has this effortlessly cool vibe that is typically reserved for a new Spoon record. White Rabbits will be hitting the road with Tennis and the War on Drugs and you can watch the video for "Heavy Metal" below. What's with the old guy? White Rabbits-Heavy Metal [mp3] Tour Dates [...]

Nada Surf played their album release party last at NYC's Bowery Ballroom. "The Stars Are Indifferent To Astronomy" was released yesterday (stream it here ) and if you haven't had a chance to listen, the album feels like their most personal affair to date. Last night's show captures the staying power from a band that had been all but written off in the mid 902s with a song that could have landed the quartet on one of those compilation albums of one hit wonders. Nada Surf-Waiting for Something [mp3] [...]
