Nada Surf played their album release party last at NYC's Bowery Ballroom. "The Stars Are Indifferent To Astronomy" was released yesterday (stream it here ) and if you haven't had a chance to listen, the album feels like their most personal affair to date. Last night's show captures the staying power from a band that had been all but written off in the mid 902s with a song that could have landed the quartet on one of those compilation albums of one hit wonders. Ana Tijoux's follow up to "19773 is about to hit the streets next week (January 31) with her release, "La Bala," via Nacional Records. If you're unaware of her story, Tijoux's family fled a Pinochet dictated Chile as political refugees to France to escape the horrors left behind. The second album is a more calculated approach to her whip-smart lyrics that won't come at you like a punch on the mouth but more sideways than anything. The title track appears as if Tijoux's smoking a cigarette blindfolded in front of a Chilean firing squad spitting her [...]

Wilco has made their way west and showed up on Conan last night to spread their dad rock gospel. Last week saw the native sons of Chicago make their way to Denver for a sold out night at the Fillmore Auditorium (read Reverb's review here ). If you missed it, catch the guys playing "the Weight" with Mavis Staples and Nick Lowe below. Mavis Staples + Nick Lowe + Wilco "the Weight" (rehearsal at the Civic Opera House) [mp3] Wilco "Whole Love" [...]

Lots of good music hit your television screen since Friday night in case you missed out while hitting the sauce hard over the weekend. Cults made their victory lap on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (video via the Audio Perv ). Los Campesinos will be making their way to Denver at the end of the month with a gig at the Bluebird Theater, but played Letterman Friday night. Joanna Newsom took to Austin City Limits with her harp and angelic voice for a night in the Sherwood Forrest with a split episode with the princes [...]

No more hearing about TT until maybe September. A nine month reprieve, but I've decided to throw my support for the Ravens. There a blue-collar team that I hope socks Brady in the mouth. Radiohead-Bloom (Jamie xx Rework Part 3) A2 - Direct Experience (Art Bleek's Direct remix) Florence and the Machine 'No Light No Light' (Spector Ryan Gosling Remix) Purity Ring - Lofticries (Shapes of Light "Glittering Shadow" Remix) Weatherhouse-Cometius Remix [...]

There are few constants in life. People Under the Stairs consistently putting out dependable Hip-Hop since their inception is one of them and C=T wants to send some lucky readers to the Summit Music Hall next Thursday to catch the duo. All you have to do is tell me where they're from and the tickets are yours. I will be choosing two winners for this contest. Send your answers via Twitter (@ Causeequalstime ) or via email (julio dot enriquez at gmail dot com). Good luck! [...]

So there's one sister left in School of Seven Bells , but it's totally cool, because the rest of the act is truckin' forward. "Ghostory" via Vagrant Records on February 28 is going to catch a lot of people by surprise. The vocals on the first two tracks give Natasha Khan a run for her money. Look massive US tour heading somewhere near you. School of Seven Bells - The Night [mp3] School of Seven Bells - Lafaye by Vagrant Records [...]

Between today's videos and yesterdays UMO video, it almost feels like the video art form is not a forgotten one and definitely showing flashes of brilliance. Both videos are teasers of what's to come from Santigold and the Spring Standards. Santi will be "Master of My Make Believe" this year via Downtown Records and you can download the track, "Big Mouth," over at her website . The Spring Standards are a little vague with their album info, but promise a new one this year. Until then, we have their "Avenue Q" inspired video for [...]

The video for "Thought Ballune" is probably one of the weirdest videos that I've seen in a while. Check out the Jordan Blady & Ryan Knowles directed video that will probably have none to little competition for the most inventive/weird for the rest of this young year. UMO will be hitting the road with Girls and be making two stops in Colorado in March! Unknown Mortal Orchestra - Ffunny Ffriends (The Naked And Famous Remix) by The Naked And Famous [...]

C=T contributor, el Güero, made his way to the Republic of Boulder for a SOLD OUT Avicii show at the very inviting Boulder Theater Friday the 13th. Daft Punk – Derezzed (Avicii Remix Vocal Edit) (FullPauta) by FullPauta. Words, video and photos by el Güero The packed Boulder Theater was impossible to navigate with a sold out crowd bouncing to the energetic tunes of Avicii and Jontron's House for Hunger Tour. Jontron built up [...]

The shitstorm from last night's SNL performance by overnight blog/hype/interwebs sensation, Lana Del Rey, was heard/seen all over the Twitters last night. Who says money can't buy you fame/press coverage and a slot on the musical stage over at SNL after being on the scene for less than a year. Many other artists more worthy have never graced the Saturday Night stage that have been around much longer and to add insult to injury, LDR's proper album has yet to be released. Sigh. It's funny what happens when you get a little collagen injected and [...]
13 1/2 points. That's the official line that the Las Vegas oddsmakers are saying that the Patriots will beat the Broncos with an over/under 50. In other words, odds makers are claiming that it's going to be a high scoring contest with the Patriots handing it to the Broncos. It would be a bad idea to put a small wager if you can on the Broncos to win outright. The odds are heavily not in their favor and that's where they like their chances. Their walls are against the wall and after last week's OT winner [...]

It's going to be tough to try and follow up "Beast Rest Forth Mouth," but I think Bear in Heaven might actually be on to something with their upcoming release/ "I Love You It's Cool" is out April 3 and check out the first track from the new record, "The Reflection of You," is synth-tastic and with the ever present glossy vocals from Jon Philpot. Thanks to PreFix for the heads up.

Nada Surf's new album, "The Stars Are Indifferent To Astronomy," isn't due for release till January 24, but you can listen to the second piece of material from the album today for the price of an email address. If you missed the first track, "When I Was Young," you can listen here and be on the lookout for Nada Surf to sample their album in it's entirety via NPR on January 16 and a Fallon appearance on January 30. Opening support for their pending tour will be provided by An Horse. "Waiting for Something" [...]

It's been over one year since LCD Soundsystem played their Denver show at the Fillmore Auditorium with Hot Chip. After witnessing hundreds and hundreds of shows, I can easily state without hesitation that one October night was one of the ones I'll cherish forever. At the time there was speculation that it was the last tour/album that they'd be doing, and here we are, lamenting the loss of one of music's best talents. "Shut Up and Play the Hits" is the documentary that tells the final tale and will see the light of day at [...]

Listen to the first single from the forthcoming album, "Andrew in Drag," and check the dates to see if Stephin Merritt + Co. will be visiting your hometown. He's My Brother She's My Sister came tappin' to the Larimer Lounge last night. The quintet consists of a real life brother sister Rachel and Robert Kolar. The unsigned band from Los Angeles brought that "old time" rock n roll to the stage and appeared to having a rollicking time in the process. The dualing vocals by the siblings played well off each other and playful demeanor made for a light hearted experience. The added cello by Satya Bhabha and tap dancing by Lauren Brown proved to be vital elements of the night and perhaps [...]

The War on Drugs won't be touring with both of them at the same time, however, they will play at separate dates, but how about that for a concert bill? The War on Drugs will be releasing "Come to the City" as a 73 on January 24 with unreleased track, "Don't Fear the Ghost," that you can listen to below. Despite playing "Baby Missiles" 103 times according to my iTunes, last night's performance of the Springsteen/Dire Straits influenced track took on new life. See you in March, dewdz. [...]
