Kids On TV - Dandi Wind - Sons Of Brixton - Mischief & Mayhem (DJ) This Friday the Mod Club Theatre is playing host to Kids On TV, Dandi Wind and Sons Of Brixton. Kids on TV are fairly well known around these parts for their excellent shows and high energy. What a lot of Toronto people probably don't realize is that Montreal's Dandi Wind perform an equally amazing live show. They remind me a lot of Duchess Says and some Crystal Castles songs but with a darker industrial edge. [...]

Feel free to download the [...]

So the end of the year eh? Everyone seems to be posting special stuff like their top 50 of 2006 and the like. I think that it's a fairly good idea, but it's pretty hard to remember all the way back to January. Instead I decided to make a mini-mix of songs from 2006 that I am currently excited about. This isn't a BEST OF necessarily because that would take way way too much time. This year had a lot of really great stuff. Without further ado, I present the Top 6 [...]
Erol Alkan: DJ of the year [begin crunchy vocoded lyric] ERRRROOOOOLLLLL AAALLLLKKAAAAAN [end crunchy vocoded lyric] That's what you get from the first song off of Erol Alkan's newest mix cd that came as a covermount on the January Mixmag. Erol's legendary club night TRASH has been running for 10 amazing years now. He was just voted Mixmag's DJ of the year and he's headlining the New Years party at Fabric with Justice! This guy knows what he's doing. Disco 2006 [...]
The Chemical Brothers These guys have been doing big beat acid house since before the genre existed. Starting out as Manchester DJ's in 1992 at a club called "Naked Under Leather," The 237 Turbo Nutters as they were called, played hip-hop, techno and house. Later, while known as The Dust Brothers and touring North America they were forced to change their name in the face of legal pressures from the US based Dust Brothers production group (best known from their work with the Beastie Boys). So in 1995, Ed Simons and Tom Rowlands became [...]
So I have been using Torq for around a month now and I thought I'd like to share my impressions of it with everyone. Every time that I go out with it I get questions about it. So let's start with the hardware, Conectiv, and then move to the software, Torq. Conectiv 4x4 USB Audio Interface This is the little box that outputs all the juice. I used Ableton Live primarily before trying out Torq so I have no experience with the control vinyl or [...]
So the new blog is pretty much ready. What better way to start it off than by giving props to an awesome post over at my friends forum MORE PROOF . Dave Taylor is coming to Toronto February 10th! Who is Dave Taylor? You probably know him as Switch or Solid Groove . He has some amazing remixes and has really started pumping out unique sounding solid content in the past 6 months. In the spirit of the sharing done over at more proof . [...]
