One more time. DON'T GET BIG, GET MASSIVE. Jut because this promo came in today, we had to do a post. For real. And because we absolutely dig this dude's music. Luke Million has been on our overheated radar for ages now and is the hectic keys player and synth wizard from The Swiss. He often starts his morning by bench pressing his Yamaha CP-70 and drinking 3 or 4 shakes of reel to reel tape. On the first side is the stella italo jam "Arnold", which we have all toned our [...]

Woah look who's still alive. We are! And just to prove it, here's a brand new mix fresh out of the over. Featuring stellar cuts from the likes of Tony Lionni , Session Victim , Julio Bashmore , Sigha , Martyn , Midland and Lone . Here are a few words from RTYPE on the mix: "With this mix I wanted to create something that really captured the sound of summer - that festival vibe, partying outdoors with your [...]

Finally... a new mix finally online. We've been letting this one stew for too long. Some of our favourite tracks from 2010 on here, including music from Pariah , Scuba , Breach , Azari & III , Kink , Soul Clap and more. Serves as a nice little appetiser for our forthcoming 'best of' list, which we'll be rolling out over the coming weeks as 2010 comes to a close. In the mean time, here's the streaming link and tracklist: [...]

We'll keep this one brief... more because of a lack of tangible information than a desire to be pithy and readable. We don't know a great deal about new-age two-stepper Roof Light , other than that he's very, very good at the old production business. South London and/or borderline home counties with the name Gareth Munday on his passport - that's pretty much all we've got on the hard facts front. Not that it matters though when the slew of EPs he's released since late last year have just been getting better and [...]

Some might be confused as to what Matthew Dear does. Some say he is a DJ, others think he is a dance-music producer, and many say think he is simply the co-founder of both Ghostly International and its dancefloor offshoot, Spectral Sound. He maintains four aliases (Audion, False, Jabberjaw, and Matthew Dear), each with its own style and distinct visual identity. He straddles multiple musical worlds and belongs to none—and he's just hitting his stride. So how do you begin to define someone who [...]

Many have attempted to be part of the recent chillwave/dreampop resurgence, but few get remembered (by us at least). We cannot claim to be absolute fans of the genre, as it is either a hit or miss for us at times. But being polarized does not render us unappreciative of the music, and the likes of Millionyoung, Memoryhouse, Washed Out, Toro Y Moi, Memory Tapes and Com Truise really stick to our minds. We can now add Houses to this exclusive list that we are trying to compile in our [...]

Sometime over the past ten years Ghostly International quietly turned into one of the world's best labels for interesting, glitchy electronica. Some fantastic 2010 releases have cemented this reputation (e.g. Matthew Dear 's ' Black City '), and their latest offering from Brooklyn débutante Shigeto makes sure the standard stays sky-high. With a name that references his Japanese ancestry and a punchy, eclectic approach that evokes Jackson and his Computer Band , Flying Lotus and Prefuse 73 to name but a few, Shigeto AKA Zach Saginaw [...]

Solar Bears ' music could legitimately be described as leafy, or earthy, or even even grain-fed, 100% organic. But forget the trite nature-related descriptors... how about we just say they're really bloody good? It's undeniable that there's a beautifully natural quality to their sound, a completeness that's reminiscent of such pastoral heavyweights (if that's not a complete oxymoron) as Boards of Canada and Ulrich Schnauss . It's testament to how much Mike Paradinas ' UK label Planet M u has evolved that acts like Solar Bears now rub shoulders [...]

Blimey, where does the time go? We'd love to offer up a few choice excuses for the radio silence but now is not the time. No, now is the time to discuss the impending arrival of our favourite disco double act – the excellent Glass Candy and Chromatics , who perform live at Zouk Singapore this coming Thursday 4th November. We got out first introduction to New Jersey label Italians Do It Better back in 2007 with their now legendary 'After Dark' compilation (which is [...]

"Bitte Orca Orca Bitte, Bitte Orca Orca Bitte..." etc etc. That was the sound of us irritating coworkers with our inconsiderate headphone singing throughout 2009. Now Hidden Cat has dropped an amazing to remix to get us frothing about Dirty Projectors all over again. For us 'Stillness Is The Move' was one of the album's undoubted stand-out tracks, and North Carolina born, Paris based production whizz Madison Bullard AKA Hidden Cat has certainly done the original justice with his twinkling, 'is it two-step or is it disco?' [...]

When we listen to the Epic Edit of French Horn Rebellion 's ' Brasilia Girl ', we imagine an alternate disco version of Omar Sharif 's deliciously sloooow camel-back entry in ' Lawrence of Arabia '... The heat-haze and all that remains unchanged, but instead of slowly dismounting the camel and getting into a chippy little exchange with Peter O'Toole , he promptly whips out a keytar and bangs out some tasty synth chords. That might sound strange, but we're strange people and this is a strange track. Strange [...]

A brand new mix hot off the press, including selected corkers from Kyle Hall , John Talabot , Soul Clap , Deadboy , Jose James , Space Dimension Controller and others... Kicks off with some nice deep house before setting sail for choppier waters later on, there's a little something for everyone. Tracklist, soundcloud stream and direct download links below. Enjoy! Ever since Six Scents debuted, I have bought at least one perfume from every series. They combine both the world of exclusive bespoke perfume which is a dying art due to the rise of trash commercial perfumes (eg. britney spears's putrid candy scent) with new young designers and come up with perfumes quite like no other. At this age where unique scents are unaffordable by the general masses, Six Scents manages to keep its cult appeal yet also have their following which makes it commercially accessible to more people who are less receptive to the age old idea of perfumery. [...]

We have been patiently waiting for news on Senior which we thought would be released last year, and the anticipation feeds our desire for a brand new album which can take us back to Melody AM . It has been confirmed that Royksopp's Senior will be out 13 September. You can have the first taste of the album with their vision, and in this vision they saw themselves as a sleeping hobo and an old man respectively. [...]

"The mix we have done for Fixed is based on how we hope our residency with them in New York will pan out. Fixed has always been a forum for the deeper and odder end of disco and techno, but without forgetting that it's still a party. We mixed this live in our studio, allowing us to throw some extra effects in there and also a bit of the 808 from time to time." - Jas (of Simian Mobile Disco) Simian Mobile Disco Is Fixed is the first release in a new series [...]

We like producers that hold down full-time jobs or studies. Not because of any snooty aversion to success or misguided notions about the creative pitfalls of 'selling out', but simply because we love the commitment: guys and girls that work flat out 9 to 5 in the office or library then flat out 7 to 3 in the bedroom studio, strictly for love of the music. 22 year-old Arthur Cayzer AKA Pariah is one such producer, although we'd be willing to place a sizeable bet on him being able to avoid [...]
In a past paced society where everything is made in China, it is hard to find genuine craftsmanship coupled with creative ability to emerge from China. Someone recently showed me this video of how designer Vega Wang merges her background of having parents who are electrical engineers to her fashion career, drawing inspiration from lighting and technology to create one of a kind handmade clothes. Her concept and ideologies are so simple yet mindblowing and brilliant, coupled with the technical aspect, detail and craftsmanship. The only word I can use is simply breathtaking. I cannot put it in [...]
Chilly Alejandro Gonzales , formerly known as Jason Beck changed his identity years ago and the tide seems to be taking him places he has never been before. And this is a man who has been places... The question "Who is Chilly Gonzales?" elicits various answers: Berlin underground prankster rapper, workaholic Grammy-nominated producer, melancholic piano virtuoso or Guinness World Record holder. And now: IVORY TOWER writer, composer, actor and producer. Gonzales left Canada for Berlin in 1998. Daft Punk, Bjork remixes did him well, but it wasn't enough. So [...]
