Dr. Dog covering Architecture in Helsinki's 'Heart it Races'. I love this mostly, though not solely, for the backing 'boom da da da da da da's'. spectacular. heart it races mp3

ahoy! i have been away for three months traveling the globe, or at least parts of the globe for no good reason other than to distract myself from trying to get some sort of proper job. I'm still resisting... or at least resisting till my money runs out. But I'm back with black feet and a farmers tan, and have been following links all over the internets in an effort to find something brand spanking new (it's been three months and 232 songs - shuffling capacity - on constant repeat later) here's a small but highly repeatable list of progress [...]

album number 3 is on the way, released on Domino some time 2008, until then... WE.R.A.FEVER

i'm a bit late, but yesterday was a day of exceptional circumstance... three releases on the one day that spun my world a little faster. First off, there's the debut EP from UH HUH HER, 'I See Red'. UHH is the new band from Leisha Hailey, formerly of the Murmurs and Gush, and Camila Grey of the band Metronome. The EP is pretty cool, I have different favorites on any given day, but i'd recommend 'say so' and 'explode' [...]

also have a listen here to DJ Lady Byrd's mix of metronomy's trick or treatz, and spoon's i turn my camera on .
there comes a time, maybe once or twice a year, when i run out of music. it's a hard time; frustrating and fruitless, sometimes i fear it will never pass... but it does. Hurrah!! god bless LCD soundsystem, god bless them all. if you haven't heard sounds of silver yet, you really should, even if it's just for 'all my friends' (above) and 'someone great'. and while you're at it, also check out 'Yr city's a sucker' on the DFA records website , just click on radio, and flick [...]
check out the first track from Chromeo's follow-up to their 2004 album She's In Control, fancy footwork now streaming on their myspace (there's also a free download of the Zdar Dub version, and for anyone who didn't check out the last post, download needy girl too)
Along with all this talk of great Australian bands (save for the break in proceedings to bow down to the greatness that is the new young pony club) you can't really go on without talking about the large slice of 80s synth pop that is cut copy. There seems to be, for me anyway, a slight element of cheese in all that they do, but maybe thats just cause i hear synthezizers and a talkbox and automatically think of the 80's, but whoever said that was a bad thing?! They have some very cool stuff, and for some reason their [...]
The New Young Pony Club seem to have taken off in the last couple of months. Their song 'ice cream', recent sold old gig in London and current slot on the NME indie rave tour with the klaxons, css, and the sunshine underground means that anyone looking for tickets for their forthcoming UK tour best be quick (they're also rumoured to be supporting gossip on their US tour). I saw them recently on the indie rave tour, the only good thing about it being an all ages event was that even though there were several rows of big haired, [...]

" Teenager is kinda like the name itself. Young and horny. Unpredictable. Loud. Drunk. Abusive in a loving kinda way. " This is the second of the cool bands from Australia posts, though I think teenager is probably one of my favourites at the minute, i'd been looking for the song liquid cement for ages, and finally decided to get their new album shipped over from Austalia, twas well worth it. teenager is Pip Brown (Ladyhawke), Nick Littlemore (pnau), Oscar Wuts and Dean [...]
i wanted to do a post on some Australian bands that are doing some very cool stuff at the moment, but thought i'd just begin with this one. have a look at their myspace or their brand spanking new website for more
it's jumping on an over crowded bandwagon to say that gossip are a good band, that their blend of punk and disco is the next big thing or even that Beth Ditto in her fat, lesbian, swimsuit clad glory is cool , but i still feel the urge to squish myself in there, and maybe slightly elbow the NME on my way through. it may also be a slight understatement to say that gossip are just good, but i'm not sure that it's the words that [...]
