M at Sweet aka Boduf Songs has had quite a year, getting picked up by Kranky Records on the strength of a collection demo recordings he sent out, releasing those demos untouched as a mini album in March 2006 and now to round things out an album proper. Mat Sweet wasn't a stranger to recording though having released numerous private press limited CD-R runs on his Baby Blue Recordings ; ranging from glitch heavy electronics to straight heavy rock featuring a close knit group of friends in a revolving line-up. T his is it the final day, and its been such a pleasure to get here, two days of fantastic music already gone and a whole day's worth of music to go before we reach the proverbial fat lady singing moment. But what a moment it's going to be, and before today is out, there will be krautrock, folk and an improvised drum circle and none of it will feel contrived. Day two and despite the slight rainbow effect that yesterday's cider consumption has caused in my head consolation can be found in the fact that at least its not raining. N ow in its third year and rapidly gaining plaudits left, right and centre it was my pleasure to have attended the 2006 Greenman Festival this weekend. Hosted and organised by Brecon based indie folk duo Its Jo & Danny the festival found a new home this year. From the early seventies, Loren Connors has been recorded over thirty albums on over dozens of independent labels: from hazy blissed out meditative guitar pieces, to heartfelt acoustic guitar mantras and duets with artists such as Kath Bloom and his wife, Suzanne Langille. Jakob Olausson is a Swedish musician that has previously recorded under the moniker of the Joshua Jugband Five ; who have a record out on Slippy Town and possibly a lot more in the pipeline. His first ‘solo’ album on DeStijl however, is a beautifully hazy acid folk album with detuned guitars and multi-tracked vocals. Moonlight Farm seamlessly draws on the psych rock improvisations of Keiji Haino the murky electric guitar sounds of Loren Connors and the acoustic drone/raga of Six Organs of Admittance .
