Magnus August Høiberg, better known as Cashmere Cat , gives Miguel 's drugs, hugs and love song, " Do You... ," the remix treatment. Opening with his distinct, plucking arpeggios and snippets of Miguel's distant, floating inquisitions, CC's remix transforms the original song from a funky, soulful ballad into a futuristic hip-hop track. The Norwegian producer has drawn comparison to some of electronic music's new era of hip-hop and bass artists - including Rustie , Hudson Mohawke , and TNGHT - and this remix showcases exactly why. Vibrant, almost impossibly lush walls of sound, [...]
Lost Boy' s home recordings are full of lo-fi charm. His creative output is relentless; often recording several songs per month, he's a music machine assembly line with a distinct, in-your-face falsetto. There's a certain depth to his compositions, despite being only one man with an 8-track recorder. Check out "Chew", the first single off of his debut album, due out later this year. The video will send you on a cosmic journey to the center of the lo-fi universe. MP3: Lost Boy - "Chew"

Talk about a beat connection. To kick off their upcoming tour West Coast tour together, electro-pop trio Beat Connection teamed up with fellow Seattle-based production duo ODESZA for a remix of their track “Saola.” The result is tropical, psychedelic electro-pop, a vibrant and dreamy track made for the summer. Applying their upbeat style of chillwave, ODESZA kicks up the tempo and throws down the synth, transforming “Saola” into one sunny track deserving of your attention. Stream it below.

Eye Emma Jedi 's "Places" is the sort of guitar-driven, adrenaline-pumping indie rock we don't nearly get enough of these days. Hailing from Norway, these Scandinavian chaps spent 100 days outside the village of Marbella on the Southern coast of Spain recording their debut album. "Places" is our first taste of said LP and reminds us of Fang Island in all the right ways. Fun fact: Dan Croll used to play with these guys. So chew on that. Stream the track below. Mr Little Jeans - AKA Norwegian songstress Monica Birkenes - drew accolades a few years back with her striking cover of Arcade Fire's "The Suburbs" and a string of impressive Neon Gold releases. Now she's back with "Oh Sailor," a hauntingly pretty indie-pop shanty that reflects her youth spent "in the middle of the woods" in the seaside town of Grimstad, with a catamaran builder for a dad. The combination of Mr Little Jeans' arresting dreampop sound and Strange Talk 's energetic indie disco makes this dancefloor-ready remix from the Aussie quartet one of our favorites of the [...]
What first made me fall in love with Superhumanoids was the band’s clever blend of pop songwriting and elegant, subtly experimental electronica. On new single “So Strange,” however, the LA trio strips back some of the synths and post-production, letting Sarah Chernoff’s unique vocals shine. The track, which was featured on The New York Times Magazine website on Monday , will be included on Superhumanoids’ forthcoming debut album Exhibitionists , out June 11th on Innovative Leisure . Watch a gorgeous live studio performance above, and then stream the original below. [...]

God, I love the tease of a two-chord song. The best of them - "Heroin," "Born In The USA," "Road to Nowhere" - work their simple structure into an atmosphere of endlessness and delayed, diffuse climax. But now that we're all addicted to hooks, it's rare to come across a pop song that doesn't play by the rules of payoff and resolution - and that's why I have been looping Jessie Ware's cover of "Love Thy Will Be Done" nonstop since she released it apropos of nothing other than her appreciation for this 1991 track, sung by soft-rocker [...]

If there's one thing I've learned, it's that when Neon Gold Records speaks, the world should listen. Well they have spoken, this time about a single from ASTR called "Operate." Hailing from the always musically impressive New York City, ASTR has emerged onto the blogosphere with ferocity, employing elements of indie R&B and hip-hop in a style not too unlike that of Until The Ribbon Breaks . It's hard not feeling like the coolest thing since sliced bread when "Operate" blasts through your car speakers with the windows down. Download it below. MP3: [...]

Baths has made a name for himself creating chillwave tunes that pack a heavy punch. The artist né Will Wiesenfeld first made his way into our hearts with " Aminals ," a single off his debut LP, Cerulean . The cute opening sample along with the track's lush, sun-drenched beat made for a nostalgic treat, bringing back memories of riding my kick-ass big wheel down the street. For the uninitiated, however, "Aminals" does not serve as the most well-rounded introduction to Baths. Wiesenfeld is much more than just a beat maker and a sampler; he constructs luscious [...]
Naturally, with a new recording of their debut single, "The City," it would only be a matter of time until The 1975 put out a second video for the track as well. Filmed in their trademark seductive monochrome, the video is a fine addition to the Manchester outfit's ever-expanding CV. Watch it above. You can catch The 1975 on tour this summer with The Neighbourhood. Dates here . STREAM: The 1975 - "The City"
Not long before they took the stage at New Noise at the Gibson Guitars Showroom earlier this month, we sat down for an interview with one of our favorite DC bands, GEMS . We ask them about their upcoming plans, the D.C. music community, their favorite bands of late and more. Big thanks to Jacob Zverina for his video mastery on this one. Watch it above. What's not to like about Velociraptor ? Not only are we fans of their party-starting, beach-ready garage rock, but this Brisbane outfit is comprised of not three, not five...but twelve Aussies. Yes, TWELVE. We can't help but feel like that's the coolest thing ever. Velociraptor: you are hereby certified rad. Strap on your swimming shorts and stream their track "Walk On By" below. "Walk On By" comes off Velociraptor's self-titled EP, which comes out May 20th via Heart Throb Records . STREAM: Velociraptor - "Walk On By"

Surfer Blood have let out another track from their upcoming sophomore album, Pythons . “Slow Six” is an angsty alt-rock waltz reminiscent of the sound that made bands like Weezer and Built to Spill so popular in their heyday. Although the Florida based four-piece garnered accolades with their first LP, Astro Coast , the tracks that have been released from Pythons thus far suggest that Surfer Blood has really hit full stride. Stream “Slow Six” below. Surfer Bloods' [...]
Over the past few years, Wild Nothing 's name has become synonymous with dream pop. If you're familiar with the magic of Jack Tatum then you know that's for good reason. Though it hasn't even been a year since the band's sophomore LP, Nocturne , Tatum is already cranking out fresh material from his upcoming EP, Empty Estate , that's guaranteed to keep fans captivated. Empty Estate's first single, "A Dancing Shell", is the perfect teaser to the seven-track [...]
Hamilton, Ontario seven-piece The Rest are on a mission to make a video for every song from their excellent 2012 full-length, SEESAW . Next up on the list is the first track on the record, "Who Knows," which explores the tragic existence of a man whose brainwaves mirror isolated picking of the track's lonely guitar. Sadly, this leads not to awesome musical superpowers, but rather to the inability to recognize or remember anything put in front of him, and the only thing that he manages to hold onto are images of creepy-looking bird [...]

We're honored to premiere "On the Nod," the first single off Kansas City producer Bryan Cox's new album Portraits . Cox, AKA Soft Lighting , makes "languid, seductive pop" with traces of late 80s and early 90s dark house. "On the Nod" recalls the classic indie dance sound of Manchester's Factory Records, the Tony Wilson-owned imprint that launched the careers of post-punk trailblazers like Joy Division (later New Order), Happy Mondays and the Durutti Column. The track begins with nothing but Cox's washy vocal and a guttural bassline before gradually building into a wall [...]

Ryan Hemsworth . Light of my life; fire of my loins; king of the bootlegs; producer of the finest musical catnip. Ryan Hemsworth, I don't care who you are or where you're from (Nova Scotia), I just know that I want my Backstreet Boys remixes exactly that way (twitchy fist-pump lounge jams that periodically sample preteen Amanda Bynes squeaking "Amanda Please"). I feel like you're playing games with my heart a bit with your refusal to drop the full Y2K melodrama of the original chorus, but I'd still give you all I have to give (which is nothing, [...]

Buzz and fuzz are in full effect from the get-go on Loon Lake's "On Fire", but the 8-bit bursts and wailing vocals make me feel like this is what Cold War Kids would sound like if they were still good and played with more fun toys. The entire song from his Melbourne outfit shimmies along with an energetic, carefree vibe that by the time the tom-heavy breakdown hits, the quick chance to catch your breath is appreciated. The subsequent ramp-up brings the energy right back up to rebellious levels in time to close out this short and sweet spring jam. [...]
"Little Numbers," for all its playful lightness, is a remarkably assured debut single from Valeska Steiner and Sonja Glass, the duo known as BOY . In anticipation of a set of US tour dates in May, they've recorded a live acoustic version of the track for MTV Iggy. The video - filmed with intimate clarity in the back room of a fabric warehouse - shows the bones of the track, the structure that underlines and elevates BOY's breezy candy-sweetness. This live version of "Little Numbers" is pitched a few steps lower than the original, making Valeska's fine-tuned [...]
Bon Iver's Justin Vernon has a bug for collaborations, which is evident from his work with artists varying from Peter Gabriel to Kanye West. Now he's gotten together with Brain Moen (Peter Wolf Crier) and Phil Cook (Megafaun) to write some good ol' blues rock as The Shouting Matches . Though the group's debut record, Grownass Man , still features delicate, pretty songs like " I Need A Change " and the Bon-Iverish " Gallup, NM ," it's tracks like the lazily rocking "New Theme" that are the heart of the record. The tune is [...]
