Sweden has quickly cemented itself as a mecca for good music with acts like Miike Snow, Lykke Li, Robyn, The Knife, Niki & The Dove, Peter Bjorn & John, Tove Lo, Kate Boy, Karl x Johan and Say Lou Lou. The list goes on. Let's go ahead and add Taped Rai on there. Fresh off a collaboration with David Guetta on " Just One Last Time ," the duo, consisting of Tom Liljegren and Alexander Ryberg, just released their single "Shadow Of The Sun." It's a slice of electro-pop bliss that takes the listener on a [...]

Amtrac continues his rise to the forefront of electronic music, this time remixing Ellie Goulding 's "Without Your Love." The original song begins with a brief but grandiose piano intro, before yielding to an urgent drumline and Ellie's unmistakable vocals. Amtrac's take adds pitched down vocals, a buzzing undercurrent and a steady kick drum, transforming "Without Your Love" from a sweeping power pop song to a darker, late night dance track. Several of Amtrac's distinct touches are present - glitchy vocal splices, rollicking bass synths and steady buildups that give way to grooving dance beats. Nike [...]
We've seen the SNL television spots, we've seen the giant billboard, we've seen the "Creator's Project" interviews and we've seen the Coachella teaser. Everything surrounding Daft Punk 's upcoming album Random Acce ss Memories has been very meticulous and extremely secretive, showing off only bits and pieces of their first new studio single, "Get Lucky." But now the wait is over, as the massively popular French electronica robot duo has granted us access to the track in its official form today at precisely 12:01 am EST. Along with N.E.R.D [...]
I’ve come to the conclusion that pop music is hard-coded into each Swede's DNA. Talented newcomers MAASAI are no exception. Their debut track, “Memories,” is a sentimental track about a failed relationship disguised by uptempo tribal beats and a soaring chorus. The Stockholm duo, consisting of Dominque Teymori and Zackarias Ekelund, chose the name MAASAI to convey the power and force that they put into their music. Taking a page from fellow Swedish pop sensation Lykke Li’s “I Follow Rivers,” the video features a lush Nordic landscape that beautifully contrasts the heartbreak and pain found in the lyrics. [...]

Use Coachella to your advantage. There are plenty of festival mechanisms you can exploit to make your weekend experience all the more better. Warning: some of these hacks require a certain...shall we say, "moral flexibility." But if you're willing to stow away your conscious here and there, you'll reap the benefits. 1. Lost and Found Upon arrival, immediately “lose” your stuff and check it into lost and found, and when it starts to get cold go back and get your jacket from the bag you [...]

From my success and failures last week (along with a little help from my friends) I have compiled a list of recommendations for Coachella this weekend. These bits of advice should make your life a little easier and more comfortable this weekend and for Coachellas to come. Check them all out after the jump. 1. Don’t camp. Rent. I am usually a fan of camping at festivals, but the Indio desert is a different animal all together. We stayed 3 miles away in [...]

Since its inception in 1999, Coachella has risen from general obscurity and financial difficulty to become one of the world’s premiere party destinations. The number of foreign languages you hear just walking around the festival is evidence enough. As a Coachella noob, but avid festival-goer, I wrote this article to assist those attending week two and hope that you may learn from my experiences. The one universal truth I have learned in writing about music over the years is this: everyone likes something different. Duh. But writers often [...]

It turns out that Daft Punk aren’t the only French, robot costume wearing musicians making waves in the electronic music world this week. Monsieur Adi has just offered up a new remix of Jamie N Commons ' “Rumble And Sway” that is sure to turn some heads. Monsieur Adi is known for his remixes, notably his official ones for Ellie Goulding and Lana Del Rey. This mix stands out, however, as his furthest departure from the original track. The combination of Jamie N Commons’ smoky Tom Waits-esque voice and Adi’s dark synthesizer melodies make for [...]

We’re thoroughly excited to premiere “West Coast Slide,” an instant smooth pop classic from Philadelphia dream rockers Work Drugs . On this track, Work Drugs sharpen up their hazy musical aesthetic – designed “specifically for boating, sexting, dancing, yachting, and living” – to produce what might be their catchiest work yet. Blissful Balearic guitar runs, fat synth pads and a languid backbeat coast behind Thomas Crystal’s irresistible sing-along vocals. A highlight here is the lovably exuberant arena rock guitar solo that erupts around the midpoint of the song, as if it'd been bottled up since 1982 just waiting to [...]

"Over The Love," Florence Welch's original contribution to the Great Gatsby soundtrack, is a persona piece from the point of view of Daisy Buchanan, but perhaps this iconically languorous American lady-figure wasn't so much of a stretch for Flo to imagine - "I sang by the piano," she wails, "tore my yellow dresses, and I cried, and I cried, and I cried." Over a slow thump of a beat and an even, pulsing piano, "Over The Love" builds in those familiar string epiphanies and howling tribal harmonies, all of it carried by [...]

Hiatuses are as much about new beginnings as they are ends. Such is the case with Bodi Bill 's Mariechen Denz & Alex Stolze, who went on to form UNMAP after the dissolution of their alma mater. The Berlin four-piece, which also includes Matthias Geserick and Thomas Fietz, has already captured and charmed audiences with their distinctive indie R&B sound. Their latest single, "When To Lead And When To Follow," hits you from the get go with a moody, soul infused force that's both majestic and haunting. This one shouldn't go unheard. Download it below. UNMAP's "When To Lead And [...]
Only days after putting out " Wallow ," Coast s are following up their latest single today with a video to match. The visuals are simple and straight to the point; a no-holds-barred performance video to match this hard-hitting number. Watch it above. STREAM: Coasts - "Wallow"

As much as I love big, immediate hooks, some of the best songs unfold their goodness slowly and almost unexpectedly. Such is the case with "Air Conditioning," the latest single from West Coast indie pop band Kisses . This third release off the group's wonderful new album Kids in LA - which channels, variously, Roxy Music, Pet Shop Boys and David Byrne - is our favorite song on the entire LP. Stream it below and prepare to dive into a lush and alluring sonic landscape, guided by swirling pied-piper synths and gauzy, haunting [...]
Did you know that Iron & Wine 's name comes from a dietary supplement called "Beef Iron & Wine" that Sam Beam found in a general store while shooting a film in Georgia in 2001? In the intervening 12 years, Mr. Beam has stopped shooting movies about what I assume must be the Oregon Trail, and started consistently turning out solicitous, simple and melodic folk songs that have grown more lush and impressionistic over time. Iron & Wine's new album, Ghost on Ghost , came out today on Nonesuch Records , and [...]

As the resident New Orleansologist here at ATG, I'm delighted to write about Generationals . The band formed in 2009 as an indie take on shimmering 60s pop, and their debut album, Con Law , more or less broke the NOLA indie scene when it was released four years ago. (You probably heard the infectious single " When They Fight, They Fight " that summer.) Heza , out now on Polyvinyl Records , is an updated sound, building on what the band does so well. [...]

The Neighbourhood made their first splash in the blogosphere late last year with their Song of the Year contender, " Sweater Weather ." Since that first introduction, we've been rewarded with two EP's: I'm Sorry... and Thank You. Both received strong marks and featured a handful of great songs that could have easily served as big singles. On the visual front, they've created a trademark black and white aesthetic that serves as a signature to pretty much everything they do, from their music videos down [...]
Today we're happy to debut the official video for "Farther," a highlight of Vacationer ’s blissful and bewitching 2012 album, Gone . This fan-made montage of concert footage and time-warped technicolor naturescapes is the perfect backdrop for the band's unique brand of easy breezy beautiful tropical pop. “Farther” is like a lucid dream of fifties AM gold hits, lost Disney soundtrack gems and balearica, sewn together, wafting out of a crackling transistor radio on a desert island in the future. Director Adam Fleck does a lovely job of capturing the track’s delicate [...]
London pop songstress Louisa Rose Allen, better known around these parts as Foxes , is at it again with her latest track, "Beauty Queen." Though the steady electronic beat she prefers still drives this tune, it takes more of a backseat here, making way for a lightly tapped piano, swaying violins and Allen's haunting croon. A thirty second clip from 90s classic " Drop Dead Fred " strongly questioning the validity of fairy tale endings ("What a pile of sh-") sets the stage for the song's take-down of traditional standards of beauty. As clips from old and new beauty [...]

Sexy, vibrant, and made with every intention to get you moving. Australia's DEJA have been making their distinctive brand of sleek, electronic laced pop since 2011 and are set to release a brand new EP sometime this year. Their latest track, "Still Falling," is a perfect example of the duo's infectious future pop sound and is bound to leave a lasting impression on your eardrums. Download it below.
