Damon & Naomi are now the support act, I don't entirely have a problem with this because it's not as if they support acts that I don't enjoy ( The Clientele in 2010 and Richard Youngs tonight), my main problem is that I feel a little sad at 40 minute sets, the back catalogue is rich and sadly becoming neglected, I know a band has to move on but as I get older I seem to be getting more and more enjoyment from wallowing deeply and luxuriantly in my past. Last night's [...]

14 Auspicious Dreams was released in 1997 on a benefit 73 single for Ptolemaic Terrascope . The music was written by the late Hugh Hopper formerly of Soft Machine, the lyrics were by Naomi Yang. That's what I've learnt from the sleeve and is pretty much all I do know about it. The single also included tracks by The Bevis Frond, Flying Saucer Attack and The Silver Apples Damon & Naomi - 14 Auspicious Dreams (mp3) [...]

This cover of Beat Happening's Indian Summer turned up on a 73 single given away with issue #7 of Chemical Imbalance and was recorded while Galaxie 500 were still a going concern. I don't think it gets a mention in Black Postcards (although I don't have a searchable version as yet - a Kindle issue would be nice sometime - particularly as my hardback is falling apart - a good fan would have taken more care of his signed copy!). Damon mentioned it in the Ptolemaic Terrascope interview but only in [...]
Dean & Britta have scheduled a performance of their show 13 Most Beautiful: Songs for Andy Warhol's Screen Tests in Belfast on the 16th February at The Mac . No word yet if their trip to this side of the pond will include any other shows, but my fingers are crossed!

OK, to be honest I'm not too sure of what's on the horizon but to break the silence here's a little of what I do know... Damon & Naomi are playing a couple of dates at the end of January in Europe with Richard Youngs. Firstly they're at Cafe Oto in London on 26th of January and then they'll be playing the MO'FO festival in Paris on the 27th. Naomi has been working on more film projects and some sneak preview stills have turned up on facebook [...]
In December 2005 we arrived at a new year's eve which didn't involve Luna playing live, until then Luna's new year's show was a tradition (sadly one I never experienced in the flesh), and part of that tradition involved pulling out a cover version of George McRae's disco classic Rock Your Baby. So in December 2005 I threw together the "Roll Your Own Luna New Year" page which collected new years performances of the track... this post is just a recycle of that post... with a bit of added video from Matthew Buzzell's Tell [...]
Thanks to everyone who took the time to vote in the survey again, it's always a joy to look through the results (even if they don't change too much from year to year). Thanks also to all the really sweet things that so many of you took the time to write in the comments field. I always say that AHFoW would still exist even if I was the only person who ever looked at it but its really nice to know that so many folk do appreciate it! I pulled a name out of the hat (well actually [...]
OK, I'll tidy them up nicely and turn out a proper blog post about them in the next day or so but the survey is now finished and the survey results are available for your perusal. A Head Full of Wishes 2012 survey results I've also now used various random number generators located out there to pick out the winner of the draw - the winner was Brad and I've already contacted him via the email address he left. If you haven't heard from me then I'm afraid [...]
OK - this is the last call to take part in the annual A Head Full of Wishes survey - one random lucky voter will be getting a small pile of 73 singles I have prepared for their trouble... the rest of you just get satisfaction! Head over here to: VOTE IN THE A HEAD FULL OF WISHES 2012 SURVEY Thanks.
I've been idling away my time because it seemed hilarious when I thought of it, so... for all Galaxie 500 Mailing List fans... consider this your xmas pressie... To both Luna and Macca, I humbly apologise... ... everyone else just walk on...

The 2012 survey has arrived - go choose your favourite Galaxie 500, Luna, Damon & Naomi and Dean & Britta albums and tracks. I haven't shared a full show for a while so here's a full live performance by Galaxie 500 at the Burgerweehuis, Deventer, Netherlands from 23 years (and one day) ago. The first couple of tracks are actually from the soundcheck, so more than a full show! Everybody's Talkin' In 1998 Sub Pop decided to revive their Singles Club, so Singles Club V2 arrived with offerings from Jesus and Mary Chain, Modest Mouse, Ron Sexsmith... and Luna. If memory serves the singles arrived in twos (rather than monthly) so it would have been in the second mailing sometime in the summer of that year that Luna's version of Fred Neil's Everybody's Talkin' arrived in my life as a transparent yellow disc of plastic. That version of the song is available on Lunafied [...]

It appears that Black Postcards has just been (or is about to be) published en Español by new independent publisher Libros de Ruido (which Google translates as Noise Books). More details for those who can read Spanish can be found on the publishers Tumblr , and copies can be ordered from here . I rather like the cover Postales Negras by Dean Wareham

Damon & Naomi will be in London on 26th January supproting Richard Youngs at Cafe Oto in Dalston . As last time Damon will also be on drumming duty with Mr Youngs. No word as yet on any other dates while they're on this side of the pond. Tickets can be bought for £8.50 from wegottickets .

Demain matin, je vais à Paris par le train, alors voici quelques chansons en français. (Désolé pour mon pauvre français... I'll spare you any more... and please feel free to correct what there is!) La Fleche d'Or arrives at Paris Nord - 1926 MP3: Dean & Britta - White Horses (en français) MP3: Luna - La poupée qui fait non Previously: Friday recycling: Bonnie & Clyde – Dean & Britta & Keren [...]

Cat lovers look away Luna's Outdoor Miner 73 came in a gatefold sleeve giving all the more space to show the delightful image of a cat nailed to a board three times! The lead track is available to buy on the download-only compilation Lunafied or on The European two disc version of Best of Luna The flip side remained nowhere but on the flip of the 73 (or on the CD single) until now. This was recorded [...]

I did a Victory Garden post last year - go check it out over here if you want to read about the bad lyrics I sprayed over the internet (but wasn't responsible for the transcription of)... if you're just here for the music then... Victory Garden by Galaxie 500 MP3: Galaxie 500 - Victory Garden (London 1990) MP3: Dean & Britta - Victory Garden ( 2011) Here's a video of that Dean & Britta performance [...]
