A previously unreleased LUNA track is to be released on a compilation album called Guilt By Association on Engine Room Records . The track is a cover of the Paula Abdul song Straight Up . Due for release on August 7th.
Dean and Britta have a date scheduled in London on the 19th June, I'm guessing there may be more European dates fitted around it and if/when I hear any more I'll let you all know. The London date is at The Metro in Oxford Street, London . Say "Hi" if you spot me there!
Former Luna guitarist Sean Eden 's solo project (probably not called) The Weeds of Eden are most likely on temporary hiatus while he fills his time being a member of Elk City who have just released a new album New Believers which has been well received. You can listen to a few tracks over at their MySpace page and check out the video for Cherries in The Snow on YouTube . They have a few dates in France and a couple in NYC over the next few weeks.
During 1994 Luna took to performing the John Lennon track "Hold On". This version is from a 1994 KCRW radio session. The complete session is currently being seeded on Dimeadozen . John Lennon's original was released on his first solo album John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band (1970)
Video of Dean & Britta performing Galaxie 500's Tugboat at their recent show in Boston Tugboat live at the Meseum of Fine Arts on March 9th (our 2nd show). This version is with vibes and keyboards. After this, Lara switched to guitar and it got more "rockin'" but I think I prefer the pretty keyboards...... Britta
In my ongoing effort to spray A Head Full of Wishes all over the Internet and to open up eyes to all that's great about Galaxie 500 (and all that happened since), I have now created the A Head Full of Wishes group on YouTube - I've no idea if anyone ever uses the groups on YouTube - I've been a member for ages and never have - but...it's there now - post your videos and talk about them - if it takes your fancy. The Flickr group is coming along nicely and [...]

I've just created groups for A Head Full of Wishes on both the excellent music site Last.fm and the equally wonderful photo sharing site Flickr - please come and join. Last.fm is a music sharing and discovery site that keeps track (and makes charts) of all the music you play and helps you to discover similar artists and like-minded people. Flickr 's pretty much the same thing except swap photos for music (and ignore the bit about tracking and charts) [...]
This is Luna reluctantly performing California (All The Way) on Philadelphia's World Cafe in 1997.
There's a fantastic review and a stack of great pictures from Dean & Britta's recent show in Toronto on the always fantastic blog Chromewaves .
Back in 1996, while still a member of Luna, Justin Harwood teamed up with Pete Buck (REM) and Barrett Martin (Screaming Trees) to form the instrumental supergroup Tuatara . The band have their fourth album, East of the Sun released in June, although as far as I can tell Justin is no longer a member. However the band have branched into having vocals on their album and have guest appearances by a bunch of familiar names including Dean Wareham. You can listen to the whole album on the Fast Horse Recordings website [...]
It's been almost excactly a year since I posted the first track from the Magnetophone demos, so I guess a reminder is in order. Magnetophone was a short-lived project of Damon & Naomi's after Galaxie 500 split up. The band recorded some demos but nothing was officially released, they (apparently) played a couple of gigs and called it a day. As well as Damon and Naomi the band included Jon Williams ( Volcano Suns ) on guitar and Chris Guttmacher ( Bullet LaVolta ) on drums. This track was labelled "Plane" on the CD I [...]
