After much deliberation and some major headaches, I decided to extend this month's carnival to next month. Posts submitted last month, will be included with those submitted this month. Look forward to this carnival being posted come November. Take care, D.A.N. Saying that I'm a fan of Pink Floyd and of The Wall doesn't see to really cover exactly how I feel about their work and this particular album. To this day I remember the first time I really listened to it in it's entirety and the mixture of awe, identification and absolute confusion I felt afterward. Advertisement: <!-- --> read more
This is the thirty-third in a series of Rock & Roll features I'm writing for this site. I'm a rock and roller, so this column is a way for me to feature a different album that I like, from different genres every month. Advertisement: <!-- --> read more
Carnival time again. A bit of a short and sweet one this month... well shorter than some but longer than others I guess... so I think we'll just get right to it. First, from Biagio over at Miami Grime, we've got an: Interview with Wallpaper Advertisement: <!-- --> read more
Well, I think it's been roughly 5-7 months since the last Carnival of Rock 'n' Roll. According to my records it was March, but the last one actually published I think was January 2010. What can I say, things were extra stressful, extra hectic and extra time consuming for a while there... Advertisement: <!-- --> read more
Well unfortunately there's been some unfortunate things going on recently that have kept me from writing for the Soul of Rock 'n' Roll... a shame, a definite shame, but this month I'm hoping to get back to working on this this month... cheers all around. Advertisement: <!-- -->
The Soul of Rock 'n' Roll is officially taking a hiatus for the month of February 2010. Unfortunately real life has been intruding on the Soul of Rock 'n' Roll a little too much this month, so it seems best to take the month off and regroup. This month's carnival will be extended and what would have been this month's feature will run next month. Advertisement: <!-- -->
Who would have thought when I glanced through the music headlines this morning that I would see a brief blurb about Jane's Addiction supposedly returning to the studio... all of them, the original line up. Advertisement: <!-- -->
Hello everyone, early 2010 is proving to be a busy time here at the Soul of Rock 'n' Roll. New content is on the way, no worries. I was planning a really great new Rock and Roll feature too, but in writing it I decided that I really wanted to do a little more research and make sure I did it right. It is taking longer than expected though, so I've decided to postpone it until next month. Advertisement: <!-- [...]
It's Carnival of Rock 'n' Roll time again... the very first carnival of 2010. This month will be another more mellow carnival (at least compared to come of the massive ones of the past), but I'm not complaining. There were lots of interesting things submitted and I really enjoyed taking a read. Advertisement: <!-- -->
Just want to wish everyone out there in Internet-land a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. Advertisement: <!-- -->
Never one to pass up a good concert if I have any choice in the matter, I have once again been attending musical events with vigor. This time it was a band that I've seen a few times before and they've always put on a good, fun, high energy show: Better Than Ezra. Advertisement: <!-- -->
During the time the Soul of Rock 'n' Roll was being redesigned and reborn, there was a lot of music news that I didn't get to discuss. One of the most exciting (at least for a big Pumpkins fan like me) was the announcement that the Smashing Pumpkins would be releasing their next album, a 44 song epic called Teargarden By Kaleidoscope would be released a song at a time online. Well last month with the return to regular carnivals, we had the biggest carnival I've ever seen... and this month, perhaps ironically, we have the smallest. In fact, the carnival this month contained so few submissions I thought I forgot to make it available on BlogCarnival.com, but I didn't. I thought maybe there were problems with my carnival email, but there aren't. Advertisement: <!-- -->
It was well over two months ago that I was lucky enough to see this band live. I meant to write a review almost immediately, but between site overhauls, other issues and a series of delays, this is the first time I'm actually getting around to doing so properly. Consider it a testament to how much I enjoyed this show that I'm still writing a review so much later. Advertisement: <!-- -->
A few months prior... before the site overhaul, many unique circumstances and many many more delays, I went to a concert. That by itself is not all that uncommon as I go to a number of concerts every year and will certainly go to more every year in the future. Advertisement: <!-- -->
Exciting rock news in the past few days/weeks/months. What is easily one of the most exciting super groups of all time, Them Crooked Vultures, announced that their debut album will be officially released in just a few days on November 16-17, 2009. I don't know about you all, but I've got my copy on pre-order and have been anxiously awaiting that very first listen. Advertisement: <!-- -->

Well now that the Soul of Rock 'n' Roll has returned in all it's rockin' glory, it seems about time for the Carnival of Rock 'n' Roll to return from it's dormancy as well. This carnival was definitely an interesting one to sort through though. Advertisement: <!-- -->
