We took an office vote and the result was that "Beat It" is Michael Jackson's best video ever (sorry "Thriller"-lovers). And from the looks of the video for "Give It Up", Datarock apparently feel the same way we do about the subject.

If the video for "Panic Switch" got your nipples are hard yesterday this will leave you hot, bothered and in need of a fresh pair of undergarments. Swoon , the upcoming album from LA's Silversun Pickups is the latest album offered up through The Leak at MTV.com. Hear it here if you think you knickers can handle it.
The best video we've seen all morning (but it's still early).
Not sure what happened to the scary, gothy The Horrors of 2007 but they've been replaced with the infinitely more enjoyable scary , psychedelic The Horrors of 2009. We're pretty speechless about this one, really. It's just that this is so good and thier last album was...different. Do yourself a favour and take all right & a half minutes of this one in ; cancel whatever meetings you need to and tell your IM stalker to f*** off as this deserves your undevided attention.

We can all quite holding our breath now. The 'artist' has spoken and from the looks of it hell hath not frozen over. Yet. Hey, who wants to start a pool on who will reunite first: The Stone Roses or The Smiths? The smart money is on the Roses as they'll proabably need a bit of cash sooner but Morrissey is crazy and you can never count out crazy.
Oh. My. S***. This is what we're talking about! Silversun Pickups are back with more Californian fuzzy guitar greatness. They're also back with more tight close-ups and strobe effects than necessary but hey, being in a rock band is all about indulgence so how can we judge them for it? Especially when it rocks so hard that it makes us want to throw out every record we own that has a sample, sequencers or the suffix "remix".

The Gossip have announced that their forthcoming Rick Rubin produced album, " Music for Men ", has been completed and will drop on June 22nd. The first single " Heavy Cross " will release on June 15th. Rick Rubin produced the new album in Malibu, California amongst the warm sunshine, swaying palm trees and crashing waves. Word in Bond.
Since this week's SNL host was the newly-thin Seth Rogan it was only appropriate that the musical guest was impossibly thin, well-dressed French fops (are there any other kind?) Phoenix. For us their performance was the biggest French hit on American television since Zinadine Zidane's infamous headbutt in the 2006 World Cup; they were so good in fact that they are one of the few acts to be asked to perform a hat-trick (three) of songs instead of the standard brace (two) songs. In addition to the recently released "19013 and an energetic performance of "Lisztomania" [...]

It's not really our typical fare here at SubT, but we'd be remiss if we didn't bring to your attention the latest from Brooklyn avant-groovers Medeski, Martin & Wood. It's called "Flat Tires". It sound a bit like Flea playing bass with Prince at some mad jazz-scientists convention. It's that out there. But then again being that out there is in right now so kinda works. Cop it here and see for yourself.

Berkeley, California based Odawas recently released their third album titled "The Blue Depths", on Jagjaguwar. The first single "Harmless Lovers Discourse" is a beautiful excercise in songwriting with leanings of Grandaddy meets M83 soundscapes.
Razorlight hosted the show last night from the comfy confines of a green room somewhere. We watched it from the extremely comfy confines of our bed. You can watch it from your not-so-comfy office chair.
Minneapolis indie hip-hop stalwarts finally deliver the ode to drunken, promiscuity that we've all been waiting for. Call it a statement, an anthem for the hot mess, or a special dedication to the dirty stay-out. We prefer to call it the hotness.

Vancouver based Japandroids are on fire these days. They've got a huge upcoming tour and a brand new record, Post-Nothing , about to drop on April 28th. Take a listen to their new song "Young Hearts Spark Fire" . It's got a 90's Dinosaur Jr sorta feel. These dudes have a promising career ahead.

The Black Lips sent us this post via email this morning from their HQ in Georgia. We were hoping to find out how their tour went and the answer we received involved fat kids, BB guns, monsters, mansions and Willie Nelson. Be careful what you wish for. We just got back from a long tour. A very long tour. We haven't really been home since January 14th. My hands are trembling as I write this. It might have been the most fun I have ever had on a tour. We were with our [...]
With a band name and song title these we were expecting something different here. Something in leather.

King Khan & the Shrines' album " What Is?! " is finally getting a proper release in the U.S., via Vice Records, on April 21st. This album has been touted as an instant classic and was only available overseas, until now. Vice has been nice enough to offer up a free download of their song Land of the Freak. Caution: This album is known to cause wild Hipshakes!
Chances are slim that you do but if you still live at home with your parents, please turn this up as loud as you can bear. This is exactly the type of noisy, tinny, shambolic racket that gives parents fits. But once you're over 50 pretty much everything sounds like irritating, doesn't matter if it's Cat Power or if it's Cex. But Micachu & The Shapes though...they elevate the art of sounding ramshackle to new, previously unseen heights. This sh*t will get you evicted from the basement quicker than having a prominent [...]

White Rabbits have cut their teeth both in the studio and on the road over the past several years. They paid their dues and it's handsomely paid off. They have a brand new album titled "It's Frightening", out May 19th on TBD Records (home to Radiohead). Britt Daniel (Spoon) jumped aboard to produced their new album - in fact this is the first album he's ever properly produced himself. They dropped a free download of their new single "Percussion Gun" to the internet yesterday [via P4K]
Sweden's A Camp are lucky that they are foreign because if an American band implied that anything , even something as universally revered as the concept of love, was stronger than Jesus their would be protests outside their shows, call-in campaigns for radio stations to drop them from their playlist and they would be barred from ever appearing at Dollywood. Good thing Nina Pearson made all that money of off "Lovefool" when she had the chance.
