I sent "Polaroids" (it's a song, get your mind out of the gutter) to a friend a couple weeks ago and it was because I loved it so much. It's not the typical Indie sound that I have become accustomed to over the past couple of years, but it is music I welcome with open arms. The band is Slaraffenland and they've been around for awhile, but haven't been given much notice or hype. So I'm going to tell you, they rock, they are fun...you need to give them a listen. =o) So I'm [...]
So it interests me to read the latest releases from ScienceDaily. Don't roll your eyes, I like to be informed! =o) So when I see a new release entitled "Enabling Nerve Regeneration Means Evicting The Cleanup Crew" I am intrigued and need to sit and read and try to understand it all. "Macrophages are the immune cells that engulf and destroy the debris of damaged tissue to enable the healing process to begin. Their presence at the scene of damage is critical, but once their task is complete, it is just [...]
Today is March 4, 2007 and tomorrow starts the beginning of national MS Awareness Week. You can read about current funded research at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society's website . As a surviving person inflicted with MS, I think it is very important not to let it beat you down. It is imperative that you look at yourself as someone surviving every day and never as a victim. It is hard to do this, especially when so many marketed drugs for the treatment of MS are nearly lethal. I am still [...]

Acacia Sears album Dialtones will be out on March 13, 2007. When I listen, I hear Lisa Loeb influences and maybe a little bit of Donna Lewis. That makes me happy, because I love Lisa Loeb. In fact, the name of this blog is all because of her song "Bring Me Up" which I adore. But we're talking about Acacia Sears right now. And we'll see what other sounds she explores and embraces as she continues to perfect her talents. You can hear her on MySpace . Eventually she will have [...]
Even when I was majoring in Neuroscience at UD I just couldn't pass chemistry. (Which is why I'm not a web developer =o) I could ace biology and physiology and even now I can tell you so many things about the way the brain function it would keep you asleep for days. But isn't Zinc an element on the periodic table? Who knows? What I do know is that The Zincs are a rocking band that has a broad range in music from acoustic to electronic. And as most British bands tend to [...]
If I could change my name, I would want to change it to Lavendar Diamond . Well, okay, probably not, but it's a pretty name isn't it? I know you think I'm good enough to come up with it on my own. But I'm not. And of course you can take a listen to them on MySpace . Their singer Becky Stark has a voice that is just breathtaking. The sound altogether is folky and oh so sweet, I love it. Plus I am sucker for anything involving piano! [...]
This is just so cool! Jeff Han's company "Perceptive Pixel" has been working on the world's most innovative touch panel. You know how there are touch screen monitors, most often found in kiosks? Well. This isn't just your ordinary touch screen. Watch this video to get the complete touch panel demonstration. It is wicked awesome! It looks like the limitations of yesterday's touch screens have just been erased.

Light some candles and pour me some wine. The only bad thing about Midnight Movies single "Patient Eye" is the fact that I didn't hear it until today. What have my ears been listening to all this time? This song has such a soothing sound that I literally felt the muscles in my neck and shoulder relax. I kid you not. The song is produced by Steve Fisk. Sound familiar? Of course it does. Fisk has also produced songs for Nirvana, Soundgarden, Minus the Bear, The Screaming Trees and Unwound. Check out [...]
Awww come on, why is it that I find myself falling in love with the swooning sounds of British men pouring their heart out over a guitar chord (played on an 8-string guitar)? Guess sometimes you just can't help it, right? Right. Onward. It's not just the voice of Peter James though, he is accompanied by Daniel Panasenko, David Lofton and Gino Robair. Combined they create classic acoustic music, with a crispness that would be perfect if played in a movie on an autumn day, leaves falling and the sun shining through the trees. You know [...]
She's got a vision without you in mind... You'll never know what it could have been... All hands on deck... My ship is sinking... And good-bye to you. - Waking Ashland

Totally forgot to write about " Bridge to Terabithia ." I'll be the first to admit that though I am an avid reader, I have never read this book. Which I probably should have read to Brae before taking him to see the movie. Perhaps then I could have prepared myself better for the sob fest that occurred midway through the movie and ceased when the movie was over. The story is about two children who feel like outsiders. They wind up being the best of friends and they build each others confidence whilst also creating [...]
My feet are moving and my heart is lighter. Why? I'll tell you why. Dar Williams . *sigh* A musical and lyrical genius. Keyboards, guitars, MANDOLINS and such an amazing voice. I might have to cross to the other side and marry this girl. Song of the moment: "Farewell to the Old Me." And I'll give you a lyrical snippet since I know how much you love them! How can I ask love to hold the mystery When just look at me [...]
Oh, I didn't make it up. There is a vertical css menu extension that words with the CMS Joomla and it is called " Son of a suckerfish - vertical menu ." Seriously, Toby and Keane and I got a little chuckle out of it today. Because you know me, as soon as I saw it I immediately had to say it out loud a couple hundred times. Hahaha! So I'm listening to Flickerstick the song is called "Beautiful" and I love it! I highly recommend you give them a listen.
A few things come to mind today for what I feel is blog worthy. 1. Braeden is now peeing standing up at the toilet. He knows to lift the seat. He also puts down the seat when he is finished. He tells me this is because girls need to sit down to pee. (haha, so smart) 2. Bullsugar. So I'm feisty. We all know this...I would like to say I am witty, but many times it's just sarcastic remarks that I find hilarious and everyone else just shakes their head at. Or in Toby's case today...exclaims [...]
Brae was a bit contrary last night. Maybe more than a bit. He didn't have a fever, but he just seemed like he wasn't feeling well. With the whining and the crying at the drop of a pin. We did our usual reading before bed and that seemed to calm him down. Then I lay with him for a bit, put sweet dreams in his ears and leave his room. He insists that I check on him at least once. Parenting magazines say that it is fine to check on your child, eventually they will [...]
Okay. You must go to this site: http://www.jonathanyuen.com/ma in.html It uses Flash, so if you don't have Flash than download it, it is free. But this site is so inspiring to me. I am a web designer and I love working with Flash. But something this creative and thoughtful is quite amazing. The music is so relaxing. Each narrative that opens is beautiful. The captions that come up to describe different words are all very motivating. It's not long, so just go look at it. If you enjoy [...]
Today I finished the latest Nicholas Sparks book " Dear John ." Nicholas Sparks is my favorite author, but I found this book a little bit disappointing. The beginning was great, there was a blend of emotions while the characters developed. But from the middle on out it was nothing but sadness. It isn't that I require a happy ending in all of the books I read. But I guess I do require closure of some kind and for me this book lacked closure for John, the main character. Yes, there is a love [...]
Yes, I have a blasted cold to bring in the new year, so my nose is all red and I'm sneezing like crazy. But still I took some pics of Brae and I and here are my favorites. Happy New Year!
