Sorry for all the neglect lately folks but I've got a pretty spicy Delishcast to make up for it. Real happy with this one, plenty of jazz and funk flying around. Kicking off with a Doobies track played at the wrong speed which I totally reckon sounds like it's been covered by MJ. Also some Herbie - saw him at the Opera House last week and he's been hogging my dreams since so I can't really leave him out. Have a laugh with the Hackney Colliery Band's Toto cover which is actually pretty brilliant. Also I've been waiting to work [...]

Hot damn, someone please tell me who did the original of this! Amazing tune, what you might call a country disco narrative from down south, right up there with Penicillin Penny. Plenty of dancefloor sleaze with some legit harmonica, crooning lead guitar, funky keys and bluesy bass - and I'm pretty sure every member of the band was wearing some kind of hat. So addictive. Gimmie some spottage! Cheers Skylevel . Skylevel - Missus Hudu [ buy ] Reliable. Dependable. Assured. Solid. Guaranteed. You can NEVER go wrong with Super Value [...]

Yikes, this old blog just turned 4 years old the other day. Thanks to those of you who've stuck around, it's been swell fun. I might do a bit of a celebratory Delishcast next week but for now I've got the very best birthday gift of all - the latest Black Cow record. Four releases in (coincidence? I think NOT) and it's been made even more clear that, for me, it's the best edits label currently in existence. The B-side on this one is an absolute monster... Massive party vibes and some of the most ridiculous bass shredding [...]

How good are the Swedish House Mafia hey? But enough silliness, let's get down to business. The most recent Redux release by White Elephant is doing it for me big time at the moment, especially the Mark E remix - although I'd recommend listening to it in the context of the original, it makes it that much more special. A beautiful acoustic foot-tapper with all sorts of gorgeous synths injecting colourful melodies and lofty pads for bedding. There's a cheese element but it's subtle and tasteful, just a little bit of brie [...]

When this Maxxi & Zeus release on International Feel came out last year and copped lotsa love from big names I don't think I gave it enough of a listen. Or I must have been in some kind of fucked up alternate plane of reality because I was a bit dismissive of it. Thankfully I've come to my senses and rediscovered it recently and I'm loving it the way any sane person should. The A-side is so beautiful but it's the B that really extends my rod. Medleys are usually shit at best but this little [...]

What an atrociously brief summer, I'm still convinced somebody fucked up the calendars this year and a couple of months got skipped. But as short as it was, it was also pretty awesome, and I'd like to pay tribute to the best season around with a specially dedicated Delishcast that ties together all the thangs that got me moist over the hot months. Special mention has to go to Harvey's visit to Aus which made it extra special - there are a couple of sarcastic classics in here for that reason. Things are still keeping pretty warm [...]

Yayyy way cool, Justin Vandervolgen is playing Sydney this Saturday at GoodGod :))) going to be a really fun night, if you're in town do come along! Clickity click the flyer for tickies! Also check out this supremo mix Justin did for us to promote the tour, it's an absolute fucking beast: Justin Vandervolgen Picnic Oz Tour Mix 2011! by Picnic Touring & Events And [...]

Got some real tasty exotic morsels for this sesh that I've been looking forward to sharing for a while. First up is a cut from the freshly released Soft Rocks album sampler which is just super duper. Warning: this is only on the sampler, not the album, which is also super duper. I haven't heard a great deal more snare drum grooves hipper than this one, it absolutely pops my head off, and it just gets better in the percussion break mid-way through the track. Yeah the brief sections of vox and synth are cool but it's when [...]

Ayyyyyy friends. So somebody apparently made a few mistakes with this year's calendar and summer is suddenly all over which is a pretty nasty surprise. We'll be doing our Sunday rooftop party for a while yet so head on up and listen to good music with us - this week is our Mardi Gras comedown party with our friends DJ Buttfuck and Slow Blow. I made this dumb video for a giggle - the track is 'Moonwalk' by Gift of Dreams, off the latest Light Sounds Dark compilation. So good! Will probably [...]

A quick heads up first - our Midnight Savari release is coming out digitally tomorrow (i think iTunes might be on Monday) with remixes by The C90s , Cosmonaut and Softwar . If you're one of those peeps who likes 0s and 1s better than wobbles in wax then hit it up! Mr. Erol Alkan has been spinning Rimshots to death which is real cool. Check out The C90s bright and bubbly funky-synth facelift of Pinisi: Midnight Savari - Pinisi (The C90s Remix) [ buy ] Now [...]

Friends and lovers, get your excite on! Not so much if you're not in Sydney, although this may be a good reason to move here if you aren't. We're starting up a weekly Sunday afternoon rooftop party at Hunky Dory Social Club beginning this weekend! Ash and I, as well as the odd funky guest, will be crooning away on the decks with our summer afternoon finest. And it's free! Come groove with us from 3pm :) Plenty of good musics sitting in the blog playlist itching to get shared. The latest [...]

Alright the January hangover is (maybe) starting to wear off and there's been shitloads of great music piling up for the past couple of months that needs to be shared. Starting off with this record from way back in 2010, ancient times, by Norm De Plume on what I presume is a new edits label he's started up - if it's not a one off. Norm hosts the Delusions of Grandeur podcast and is clearly capable of putting together a seriously damaging record. The A-side, an instrumental edit of Stop Bajon, comes down with a universe [...]

More rekkids to sell, more lost dollars to scramble to recoup, but most importantly MORE MUSICS TO SHARE! The first Disco Delicious record has been unleashed upon the vinylsphere, what a proud moment. I can't possibly send enough love to my Danish pal Joystick Jay for knocking up these three spectacular edits. I'm only keen to do this little imprint to release some edits that sit a bit outside of the norm and it's these ones in particular that made me want to do it in the first place. Marvellous stuff. [...]

There was way too much stuff I wanted to include in the top list of 2010 but couldn't... Maybe I should have extended it to a top 20 but that's too much to write about for a lazy lout like me. So instead here's a Delishcast issue of most of the things that just missed out on sneaking into the big 10. The Arthur's Landing record is just gorgeous, absolutely essential listening. The Elegante Orchestra track came out in December last year so I couldn't officially put it in the top 10 - if I could it [...]

Man this is always so tricky boiling 12 months down to 10 tracks. It's taken longer than I anticipated to put this all together so just pretend it was posted a week ago back when it was that distant year we've all forgotten about now, 2010. Massive THANKS to everyone who still reads this lil' blog of mine and hope you all had a super duper silly season. Will get stuck into 2011 very soon but for now here are the things that really tickled me in the last 12 months. Hope you enjoy! ------------------------------ ------------------- [...]

Super brief one here, I've been slaving away on my best of 2010 post. JAM ALERT. Check out this lovely track leached from The Cutler 's new album 'The Best Things In Life Aren't Things'. It's a really beautiful record that fuses a whole range of different sounds into a mellow quasi-electronic journey through hip IDM, raw funk, brooding electronica and jazzy guitar grooves. This particular cut is a straight up laid-back disco instrumental that works its ass off in the deep. These guys are a real breath of fresh air, highly recommend checking them out! [...]

IT'S A PARTIE, YESSS! Very proud to be able to spam you internet peoples with buy links to our first 12" release by the megatronically hyperawesome Midnight Savari ! We're completely stoked with the release and how everything turned out, and hopefully the disco-grooving public will feel the same. If you haven't heard anything from the EP yet it's up to stream on SoundCloud - clickity click the widget gadget below: Midnight Savari - Pinisi (DSR002) by [...]

Eyyyy Melbourne chumps, we'll be playing at New Guernica tomorrow & Friday night so come say g'day and have a beer! Really looking forward to getting out of town. As far as first days of summer go, this probably rates about a 9000 on the bullshit scale. As such I'm lacking motivation and you'll just have to trust me on these selections. Gala Drop 's recent EP released on Golf Channel is so lovely. Don't know quite how to classify it overall but it deserves far better weather than this. Essential for summer when it's [...]

Lots of exciting things happening very very soon! For starters we're doing a party at the Civic this Saturday with Adult Disco / Future Classic - just Ash and I spinning jams for 8 hours straight. Super pumped for this one, would be so fantastic if some of you lovely internet people could make it down for a boogie. Also it's kinda our launch party for the Midnight Savari record so it's double cool. Clickity-click the flyer for more deets. Speaking of which, [...]

Hay folks - so I'm going to give this podcast business a go for a bit. The format is going to be super loose... For this one I just picked up records sitting on the floor that seemed like nice things to listen to. Sometimes it'll be proper DJ mixes, maybe sometimes I'll get some guests to do my work for me. When I find a microphone I'll add some jabbering about the music in case anybody is listening. Anyway subscribe in iTunes or whatever other crazy podcast thingy you use and we'll see if it's a good idea after [...]
