Sorry folks, it's been a pretty uninspiring week. Haven't really come across anything that's rocked my boat... The new In Flagranti album was officially released which is good news for all - go forth and buy buy buy! Rock solid from the duo and, as expected, the more listens the better it gets. For me though, I find most of the songs aren't as good when taken out of the context of the album - which says good things about the album but isn't too handy for blogging. See if this works for you but whatever the outcome, [...]

Back to business as usual. I've been listening to this one tune in particular after I found I'd kinda missed it on a record i bought a while ago. Which seems to happen a lot... I'm the worst listener. It's by Stratus and features on Eskimo 's fab Cosmic Balearic Beats collection (of which I hear there is another on the way!) which has some groovy beatage from In Flagranti, Lullabies In The Dark, Phoreski, Bottin etc etc. You may find this track drags on a bit, or you may not. For me it's just sublime the [...]

Two long arduous years later this thing is still going! That's like 5 blog generations of music, and feels like it too. I'm the kind of guy who goes through big phases, as you might have realised, so I figured I'd give a bit of Disco Delish history and delve into the many faces/phases of said weblog - see how we got from A to B. I'm not one to deny my past, as inviting as that may be at times, so be prepared to take the good with the bad. WARNING: Selected tracks may [...]

Picked up the latest Moxie release the other day and I'm struggling to decide whether I LOVE it or if I'm just confused by it. I admit half of the reason I ended up buying it was because of a bit of blind faith I have in the label - if they say it's good, a small part of me just wants to believe them without formulating my own opinion. And that doesn't happen with many (any?) other labels. This is just a vinyl rip I did which isn't brilliant (there's a mark running from outside to inside [...]

Just a quick heads up about goings on this weekend in Sydney this Easter weekend (sorry everyone else :( but you really should be living here.) Let's have a fun fun fun few days! Thursday is Egg Hunt at Fringe Bar which does indeed include an egg hunt. Hott luneup with sterling locals Sleater Brockman, The Inappropriates , Mehow, Tyson and a handful of others. Email me your name, whoever's first gets a double freebie . Seriously, go see the Inappropriates (with MC Gaff E) and marvel at [...]

Well how about that, the 100th post on Disco Delish. If you do the maths, yes it hasn't been too speedy, but I think it's gone alright. Let's hold off on the ultra crazy celebrations though until the big 2nd birthday in a couple of weeks. Shhhh. No points for being speedy on these ones, but I'm willing to forgive myself if you are. U-GO-B and Jimmy2sox are a couple of Sydney finest discoboat captains and their Big Fat Rio remix is summer booze-cruise-tastic. Pina coladas, palm tree fans, banana lounges and Hawaiian shirts [...]

I'm starting to look back at my listening career in music and for the first time I think I'm really gaining some perspective on everything. Have you ever had one of those moments in your life where you've taken a look around and said 'wait a sec, how the fuck did i get here?' I had another listen to The Rose by The Laughing Light of Plenty (my favourite track of last year) and realised I've gone completely off the rails. Why do I keep listening to boring repetitive mindless feelingless music ? Where did I go wrong? [...]

Love the plugs. This week coming should be a good one - Hugs (kinda the sequel to Bandits) is reeling in Perth sensation-boi Shazam for a big night this Friday at Nevermind , Sydney. I hear his sets are brilliantly eclectic and he's backed by Kato, Sleater Brockman and my old crush Sunday School. Gogogogo, should be an excellent night with excellent music in an excellent club. ALSO, tomorrow Spank Records and Bang Gang 12 Inches open the gates on a killer remix competition for Aussie producers. The best remix of [...]

Well, the new WhoMadeWho album is out. I'm tempted to lie, but after my first listen I have to admit I expected something more. It's still very good but lacks the energy, chunky arrangements and quirky edge their self-titled debut had. I'm hoping on second/third/tenth listen it'll blossom into some magical tasty Danish butter cookie. But not yet. The songs that caught my ear which might be blogworthy, aside from TV Friend and The Plot, are Motown Bizarre because it's still got that classic peculiar sound, and Keep Me In My Plane which is just good solid WMW [...]

Just a quicky today. Firstly, can I ask (not that I imagine this mumbo jumbo gets read much) that anyone sending music does it through my dropbox now pretty pretty please? As it stands I'm 1500+ emails behind and doubt I'll ever catch up so doing that makes everything HEAPS easier for me to listen to tunes being submitted. I feel really bad for having to neglect so many emails but there's just no way I can process it all. I do still love you though. All of you. Except SXSW. Fuck off with your 300 [...]

Fork me I love Todd Terje . Fiercely. Picked up a copy of the new Dean Meredith (of Chicken Lips, here called Rogue Cat) single with his killer remix on the B side, I must share. When the bass launches the funk busts out and chugs along a solid groove. Really glad to see Tiny Sticks (Mock & Toof's label) is still in operation! The Lindstrom remix is a hair heavier and funkier with a bit more variety and progression. And the Prins Thomas mix is, like the name suggests, orgasmic. [...]

Let's, for a moment, take a step back from your typical main room d-floor and stumble over to the oh-so-alternative backroom with beanbags and incense burning and a couple of people busting out some way too enthusiastic experimental moves who everyone pretends not to be looking at. The music is nice in here too! Genre is no longer considered. Quirky op-shop garments are essential. You could get started with some things just a little left of center like Bot'Ox, maybe reeling in some curious electro kids. It's got that sort of vicious edge they seem to be drawn [...]

I figured it was probably (over)time to post some stuff from records I've snagged in the last few months. Last year Eskimo Recordings released a nice compilation of some lovely galactic disco tunes called 'Cosmic Balearic Beats' of which Bottin 's track Fondamente Nove in particularly really caught my fancy. Slow, easy going and spacey, it's a perfect warm-up disco track. The comp features killer artists like In Flagranti, Lullabies In The Dark and Cosmo - definitely worth checking out! Future Classic 's latest release by Loin Brothers is equally brilliant, though a bit [...]

Having a bit of a Prins Thomas moment right now after finding a record of his I thought I'd lost and giving it another whirl. I was supposed to post his Force of Nature mix before I left and somehow missed putting it in the pile, so here it is belated and brilliant. Super chunky bass, hot percussion. His ability to sound like a true master of everything inbetween cosmic disco and techno is pretty impressive. Force of Nature - To The Brain (Prins Thomas Diskomiks) These are a [...]

Made my triumphant albeit bittersweet return to Sydney yesterday, had a quick fly around Beatport and collected a few goodies both new and old. From now on expect things to be getting back on track! Or I hope that's what happens, since I don't have an excuse to be posting sub-par stuff anymore. Seems there's plenty of good stuff I've missed, so here we go... Will be a good year with WhoMadeWho 's new album on the horizon. Really enjoying the bits and pieces that have come my way, still with their signature quirkiness and droooool basslines. [...]

This is possibly the most expensive internet cafe on the planet, so will fly through some songs. These remixes of Michoacan turned my head a couple of months ago and to be perfectly honest I'm not 100% sure why. The Fabrizio Mammarella is definitely my favourite of the two, it's a bit more interesting and fun and there's a catchy bassline in there. The Emperor Machine one just drags out a bit and lacks flair. I probably just threw it in for the Emperor Machine value.. Hope you can forgive me if it's not [...]

Firstly, for those of you lucky enough to be in Sydney at the moment, if anybody is keen to see EDU K (Sweat It Out's latest Latino addition) I've got a couple of double passes to throw at people. The baile funk maestro is supported by Ajax (still Australia's #1 hero) and MC Gaff-E (world's #1 wardrobe) on this friday the 14th (after good vibes / valentines!) at the Art Factory. Should be a killer night, email me your full name quickly and you shall be hooked up. Secondly, just jumped on a new [...]

Ho hum. La Paz was the kuh-rayziest town yet! Had no idea so much wacky shit goes down there. I feel very satisfied (and still very ill) leaving with my "I survived the world's most dangerous vindaloo t-shirt." Highly recommend it to anybody, especially San Pedro prison. I'm really looking forward to getting home so I can spend weeks catching up on music I've missed. I feel bad for posting things I scrambled together more than 6 weeks ago... Just wait it out, promise I'll come back strong. For the moment, here are a couple of nice tracks [...]

4 eternities of turbulent flying, 3 flat tyres, 2 hundred degrees celcius and 1 million mosquito bites later and we've returned from the Amazon Basin to La Paz. Good times. Pink dolphins are sweet. As excited as I am to be in La Paz, I have to express my JEALOUSY that WhoMadeWho are playing Sydney this weekend (Saturday the 31st of Jan) at the Oxford Art Factory. I've frothed over them since the release of their brilliant debut album and still haven't had the chance to see them in the flesh. Seriously devo. However , [...]

Wheee just got back from doing the Inca Trail. So belted.. Was really super beautiful and all that. In Cusco at the moment, can't walk up a flight of stairs without panting and keeling over. Definitely keen for some sea level action in a few weeks. Miss you oxygen! Cusco is really amazing, such a stunning city. Hitting up Bolivia in a week or so, any recommendations? Anywho, Zongamin is an artist I've always been really intrigued by. His one fleeting but great release on Ed Banger, Bongo Song, got punished by DJs all around the [...]
