I am officially supposed to be bilingual tomorrow. Here is a Portland band with a sort-of french name. Au, the preposition which combines "a" and the singular "le." Add an "x" it it's plural. Think Animal Collective, or perhaps Sigur Ros. Au - Boute I'm looking into the University of Illinois, any comments?
Only because they broke up, they're from Edmonton, and this song is sweet. Choke - Breathing Won't Come Easy
Fembots put on the best show I've seen so far this year. Please support them, and everyone mentioned in the previous post. Fembots - Small Town Murder Scene
There is a circle of musicians in the Toronto area that have reinvented what the phrase "circle of musicians" means. What I'm talking about are circles that turn into other, partially finished circles. So imagine 3 or 4 circles connected, but then around the edges of those circles you have half circles sticking out. In this case, it's the combination of Three Gut Records, Paper Bag Records, Die!Venom, The Blue House.org, and Blocks Blocks Blocks. Jim Guthrie (who runs Three Gut, get the joke yet?) has an established solo career, but plays currently with Islands and historically [...]
Montreal is big and famous. Sam Roberts no more. Salut Patrick Watson! After releasing his 3rd CD, Close To Paradise , Pat has been featured on late night CBC programs as well as Grey's Anatomy. It's beautiful music, and the more I post on mp3this the less poetic I want to be. Patrick Watson - Man Under The Sea
Universal Soul (yes, that's their real website) is from Halifax, a growing centre for great Canadian music. They produce good hip hop together that functions. Also check out Classified , for your Canadian white MC needs. Now, from Chi-town (Chicago, where I had the opportunity to go this weekend) comes the band The Changes . I don't know much about them, really at all. They played Lollapalooza unsigned (the only band to do so) and garnered Stephen Malkmus' likening. This next song is sweet. The Changes - Modern Love
Well the new Two Gallants single is out and well it's slow...but good don't get me wrong I like it a lot I was just stating the fact that it is slow. And sad, really sad. But it sill makes me feel like Clint Eastwood so I love it. Two Gallants - Seems like Home to Me Cheers, Jon
I should be happily doing homework but I love you all more. Good Shoes is my new favourite band. Notice I spell favourite correctly, as would Good Shoes because they're from the United Kingdom. The group is straight indie-pop but definitely in the more traditional sense of the term. Read 1980's male sitting in a pub. It may be hard to escape the Futureheads comparison, but they bring an honest reinvention of the style. I'm familiar with the structure, yet it's new to my ears. Morden, a city in the UK is also the title of [...]
Well readers, today is 2 days past exactly a year after we first started posting together. I've no cheesecake or presents at my doorstep, so I shall be awaiting things like such to be present after school. Does anyone even like gelatin anymore? Sir Salvatore is a young band from San Fran (not too many bands from there) playing fine rock n' roll. In fact, one of the members (Dave) is Canadian! This means they fall under CANCON for fulfilling the MAPL requirements--therefore they will be played on CJAM 91.5 fm! Czeck them out. [...]
Well it has been a few days since the new interpol songs have leaked online but I decided that "The Ghost is Dancing" and gardening were more important. But that is neither here nor there. Interpol - "The Heimrich Manuever" And Pioneer Live in Ottawa So the Heimrich song sounds a lot like slow hands...a lot, but hey what ever works for yeah. Jon

After a full week of making everyone around me suicidal by repeating the Berries and Cream song, I have decided to share it with the instructional video. Now go forth young one and beat this internet fad to death. Jon
Full Story Here Jack Valenti, the urbane Washington lobbyist who served as Hollywood's public face for nearly four decades and was best known for creating the film rating system, died this afternoon, according to Warren Cowan, his longtime friend and publicist for the MPAA. He was 85. It's not often that I get excited when someone dies but I'm probably not going to shed a tear over this.
